I actually quite like the headphone port on it. I am always wary that i might be keeping my housemates up with late gaming sessions so this would be quite cool.

I want to know the weight of it, the SixAxis was too light, the Dual Shock 3 was just about right.

I still think it will be a good controller though. I doubt Sony will ever change the shape of it though!

PS4 Launch Line-Up Will Be the Most Impressive of Any PlayStation

Most will likely be cheap ports of current gen games with 1 or 2 decent 'true' next gen games.

Capcom: Dev costs are going to soar for 8th gen

I honestly expected it, but now it seems like there's industry confirmation that the struggles developers and publishers had in 7th gen are only going to get worse.

I've no idea what LS was talking about when he said costs would remain the same and not be as difficult, seemed over-optimistic to me. Expect even more publishers and developers to go out of business in the next few years unless lower budget games become ~acceptable~ (i.e. "mainstream") to produce again..

One developer is far from confirmation, especially so when it's Capcom, the ultimate purveyors of lies in this industry.

According to the most recent GDC survey, the costs will rise for the first cycle as development systems shift, then they'll go back to normal / the same as they are now. This was the common consensus shown at GDC '13 among the 162 developers who were questioned during the conference.

I believe these comments are nothing more than a precursor, for Capcom wanting to raise the costs of it's software.

This user in the articles comments section is 100% correct:

Quiotu: > George Booth • 14 hours ago Yep, calling serious bullshit on this one. You have two consoles coming out with PC-based architecture, you literally have dozens of game engines already designed for PCs.This will be the generation where development costs are as big as they want them to be. This will also be the generation where gamers give the least shit about publisher's feelings. This is looking to be the most developer friendly generation coming up. If you can't make it work in this next generation, you suck and deserve to fail.

Woah, Jindo, you and your friends agree with this guy? He's an ass!

Why do you say that?.

It's a dumb thing to call someone an ass without alluding to any reasoning behind the claim. It's you that appears to be the only ass here.

You cannot tell me that this is not mean spirited in the least. And then you go and call me one for NO reason whatsoever.

That poster makes some very good points though, including the one you sight as being "mean". Where have you been this gen?. There are some developers that have been f-ing over fans for a good number of years, and providing lame excuses for their actions!. Funnily enough, Capcom are thee worst offenders by far when it comes to fucking over fans, so such comments aren't surprising, they should be expected.

High-end console developers will have few excuses to pull from, now that these consoles are entirely geared towards developer needs, in respect to both tools and hardware. Even now both Sony and Microsoft are continuing to consult them as they finalize specifications for both.

True dat.

But still, that is a little harsh on what that guy said .
Also, I love how Jindo contradicted himself the third sentence he made.

How could I contradict myself when my reasoning is clear for anyone to see?, haha.

And I just noticed you both are new here. Welcome and enjoy yourselves.Smilie

CrystalMushroom - I fail to see how the "mean-spiritedness" of the post takes away from its cold-logic. That said, Jindo, calling CrystalMushroom an ass isn't really called for.

Moving to what's actually being said, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for costs to skyrocket once again. Engine tools are vastly better than they were at the start of the last generation, and the next generation of consoles have been designed with the developer in mind. It's not like the PS3 where Sony basically told devs we've done everything we can to make your life miserable. Good luck.

There's always a learning curve, but using a PC architecture is going to ease the transition and save developers a crap-ton of money on cross-platform development. Honestly, developers are already making "next-gen" games visually on PC. We're not hearing anything there about "sky-rocketing costs" or budgets that are so far out of whack compared to what's become the norm this generation.

As I've argued, publishers blaming their problems on rising budgets are in many cases just trying to draw attention away from their own incompetence.

This hasn't had a post for a while.

I think the PSN list in post #1 could do with an update.

If anyone wants their PSN added to the list, or removed, or has a new one to go up to let other C3ers add you, post in here and I'll alter.

Can add my PSN (SirLinkofTime), though I don't really play anything online on PS systems.

Added, and removed some oldies I don't see on the site any more.

God I hope DOA5LR is free online in F2P version. cba paying for PS+ again.

The only way PS+ would be worth it for me is if I paid for it to play Monster Hunter online. PlayStation has been almost exclusively single-player for me and PS+ to play online on PS4 really lowers the chances of that changing going forward. At least they don't have that for the Vita, though.

And PS3 thankfully.

Mostly same for me too, though. Nothing major I play online on PS, except DOA, and it's killing me that it looks like I would have to buy PS+ to play just that one game online. I mean, paying for a sub for one game... Sounds ridiculous. But there is the free DOA on PS3...but I'd rather play PS4 version. Still waiting on info on exactly how it will work on PS4.

I really hope Nintendo remains free for future consoles. Even though I'd have more reason to pay for a sub to play MK online, I really hope they don't go there. I hate it.

My PSN username is crackedthesky.

I don't really play anything but Destiny at the moment online-wise, but I'm definitely getting the new Borderlands they just announced.

One caveat, I almost never use a mic, it's too loud in my house most of the time :/

Maybe this is a weird place for this, but I'm a little embarrassed/annoyed by the disconnect in my usernames (used "justonesp00lturn" when I signed up here like a million years ago, but my ID everywhere else is crackedthesky). Is it possible/acceptable for me to change my username here on C3?
