Also, practically proving my point (and reaffirming what we've ever learnt from console tech-demos), Unreal Engine 4 actually looks "worse" in yesterday's presentation than it did last year. (however at the same time, it probably means it's closer to actual gameplay)
I'm not surprised about that at all, the resolution is quite a shocker though, should be 1920x1080 at least, 'specially with 4K round the corner too. Engines are showing off what they can do, but in the case of the PS4, there's less of almost everything. Then again, how it was initially rendered would have needed a beastly PC...
Graphically the PS4 will be fine, and better than this generation in regards to the PS3. First party titles looked fantastic, but 3rd party titles tended to look better on the 360 due to how the architecture was.
Also, has anybody thought of the possibility of Steam running on the PS4? Since Valve and Sony have had a decent relationship this gen, it would go a long way for steam box type applications (with some subsidies of course). Just a thought, highly doubt it (Gaikai etc) but would be really cool.
Apparently Sony confirmed the PS4 wouldn't support 4K, I guess 4K was a bit too far away for Sony to include it in the console's fundaments? Apparently it'll support 4K for movies and BluRay though.
A partnership to that level with Steam would be amazing, because honestly whenever I play a Steam game I go through the trouble of plugging in a controller to use which can be kinda annoying unless it's a XBOX controller for PC. But yeah I kinda doubt that'll happen either, we can dream.
So so so so

Saw this, made me chuckle:
This guy is gold..
@SuperLink
I didn't imply either of those things, I said that I would rather a game like Last Guardian stick with an artistic approach and remain consistent with its predecessors than a realistic one.
LMAO
Since his very first, Fumito Ueda has integrated realistic physics models into his games like a backbone. From Ico's physical puzzles, to climbing colossal beasts, ALL his games have centered around the use of realistic physics models, and the use of cutting edge technology. Have you even played these fucking games?
The same attention to physical detail continues...

I just worried they would end up making the game look good-but-generic like Skyrim without his direction and that they may ruin his artistic vision of the series, that's all. Eesh.
If he's fine with it then so am I.
Senior Producer of Watch_Dogs, Dominic Guay, on the PS4 Version
"I guess the image I would give [compared to Wii U] is that it's like a magnifying lens. Every core pillar of the game is able to be pushed further. We're able to push the immersion. The fidelity of the graphics is one part of the immersion, but it's more than graphics. I'll give you small examples; it's like the fidelity of the wind, how it will have everything reacting as it blows through the city, the AI reaction when something happens, every AI has to make a decision on how they'll react to it. We can spend more time in the brain of each AI with a more powerful machine, saying, 'OK, how will I react to what just happened there? Where will I run to? Will I call the cops?', or stuff like that. Fundamentally the core, innovative part of Watch Dogs is the same on every platform. But on PS4 we're able to push every lever a lot further."
- Senior Producer of Watch_Dogs, Dominic Guay
Watch Dogs will use the PlayStation 4's new touch pad to control Aiden Pearce's phone in-game, something which is described as a "direct translation" and a "really cool" feature. The studio, however, is undecided whether the game will use the light and camera positioning system.Guay is also a fan of the controller's improvements to existing inputs - such as the analogue sticks and triggers - saying they are "a lot tighter".
"We have a game with driving, shooting, a lot of navigation, so we need tight inputs - they did a pretty good job with that," he said.Guay also went into detail about PS4 development, saying that it's "definitely easier to get in" as a platform.
"We did fine with the PS3 at Ubisoft Montreal, but we spent more time getting through the hurdles, if you want. We spent more time getting through the first hurdles because we could get our games to look good on the platform," he said.
"Now, very, very quickly we got Watch Dogs on [PS4], and it looks good, and we're happy with the performance and that's a good sign, and we're able to push the immersion level and interactivity of our game instead of trying to get things to work.
Discussing the surprise announcement of 8GB DDR5 RAM at the PS4 reveal on February 20, Guay said that it was "great" and discussed the benefits of having fast memory.
"If you have a lot of memory but it's very, very slow, it's not as useful," he said."PS4 has very fast memory. I mean, 8GB of RAM. What that means in short is that there's a lot less limit on your creators, on our artists, and details and the diversity of what they can create."
"For an open world game like Watch Dogs it also means something very important because if you have a game that happens in a small corridor, yeah, you can put a lot of detail in the corridor."Our game's in an open city where you can get into a very fast sports car and drive at 150 miles an hour, so typically what happens then is that you'll trade off scale or density but we don't want to do that, because in Watch Dogs you can hack anything, and if you end up in a street where there's nothing, then the game's truth kind of falls down."
"We want to have a lot of density in our city, a lot of people that you can spy into, and lots of things you can do. So that's density while keeping scale, and definitely memory helps a lot with that."
Earlier this week Ubisoft announced Watch Dogs as a PS4 launch title, and said that it would also release on Wii U.

Saw this image on Kotaku tonight. Shows the diminishing returns of polygonal models. There are, of course, other factors to making great graphics such as textures and lighting, etc. But it does show why we probably won't see really dramatic changes like we did in previous generations. The changes we will see will likely revolve things being larger in scale (Killzone's city) or higher resolution textures.

Poly's are relatively trivial, but this extra bump allows even greater detail on facial features, and allow for improved realism in how all manner of emotions are able to be portrayed. That's where the advancement is welcome.
Complex Physics, AI models, animation, Tessellation, and texture ability designed solely for 4K output, is what will define this generation of computer graphics. PS4 will be able to provide the cutting-edge advancements in all these areas.
4K displays will become as cheap and as popular as HD is now, within a couple of years. Consoles like PS4 & 720 will help usher it in.

No platforms for this game have ever been announced.
The video above says rumour.
ASSASSINS CREED IV will have 60mins extra on PS3 & 4. The PS4 lead version is being touted as the best and will have exclusive features.
"You can imagine that we will use [the PlayStation 4's] full capacity and the potential of the console. Just graphically speaking it will be really enhanced. Just think about the lighting, the physics, the ocean simulation that will be experienced."Summing up the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag as "better looking, better simulation, and some more features."

60 minutes. Wooooow -_-
What a crock of shit.
I hate exclusive BS like this.
I've also seen that the new costumes for Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge are GAME exclusive bonuses. Sod off. Why aren't they included in the game by default? They'll no doubt become paid DLC eventually.
