Cheers mate! Glad to know it's appreciated. Been doing my best to keep everyone up to date. But yeah, definite shout out to all staff for the news posts being up in time too.

Tough to call on this roundtable. We might hear some new stuff, we might not. Worth tuning in though.

Edit: FFS. Gamespot says 2am. Might explain why IGN blog is doing nothing.

Well it's 02:12 now and there's still no activity. Maybe Reggie, in his quest to suppress as much information as possible, destroyed their laptops and their souls.

As much as I don't like how secretive he can be, I do admire Reggie's public speaking abilities and how he can give tough questions the turn around to make Nintendo seem great. He's hardly loquacious, but he can certainly talk.

Indeed, he's really damn good at that. That and he absolutely loves saying "Absolutely!"Smilie

Oh and it seems that the roundtable started just now. Hopefully we'll get some interesting things out of it..Smilie

IGN: "Tonight is focusing on Wii, 3DS. "

Fuck this shit.

I saw that and instantly thought, "Right, time to hit the hay".

At least Reggie promised us that we'll know about online stuff (possibly some specs too) by the end of E3, so that's something to look forward to. If they got that guy from EA on stage to praise the Wii U, we can expect the online to be excellent don't you think?

Also, lolz @ stuff about Miyamoto and Ocarina of Time 3D.

How long is this going to take? I might go to bed too and check that stuff out in the afternoon or something.

( Edited 08.06.2011 02:29 by SirLink )

There's a roundtable exact same time tomorrow night too. That one will be about Wii U for sure. That's the one to tune in for. We're all gonna be fucked by the end of this week. Jesus.

I'm not sure how long this will last. Guessing an hour.

( Edited 08.06.2011 02:32 by Azuardo )

In honesty, I was disappointed by Nintendo's conference. The Wii U is just bizarre and I'm struggling to think whether I like it or not. I just came across as so "meh" to me.

Same man. Wasn't the 'ardcore Nintendo fanboy system I was hoping for. It could still yet be, once we see some epic games. Imagine what's still to come - HD Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Star Fox, Pikmin. ONLINE. You know this will happen. It has to. This time next year you'll be creaming yourself.

But I do agree. I was left underwhelmed and baffled. It was like wtf did I just see? But there is potential. And E3 isn't over. Might yet see something to whet our appetites.

Lol @ Audrey on IGN.

And Retro collaborating on Mario Kart 3DS. Ace.

Ugh, I don't think my body can handle another hour after staying up for that long yesterday too without getting much sleep after it.

In that GT interview Reggie specifically mentioned the second roundtable when that guy was getting curious, so I think you're right on that. I don't think I'll stay up for it though, if there's nothing to tide me over during the night.

Just noticed, I'm a Hylian now. Awesome, can I keep this title forever plz? XD

EDIT: I hate my habit of almost finishing writing a post but not posting it for a while and missing other responses meanwhile. Anyway, I'm somewhat in the same boat as you guys but it's no big surprise. I think most of us are still confused at this point and don't really what to think about all this. It's a classic "It's too early to tell" moment.

It seems that this E3 was the wrong one for our fanboy dreams(so far, at least). Oh well, let's not act like everything about this new console is decided when it's first unvealed. Can very well see most if not all things we wish for happening at next year's E3.

( Edited 08.06.2011 02:49 by SirLink )

Well it's only because we truly thought this was the year for new first party games. When they said the Wii U would be playable prior to E3, I thought we'd have demos of Mario, F-Zero. But this is actually like the first time the Wii was revealed. Remember the first video of the Wii where you don't see ANY game footage - it's just people waving the remote in front of a camera (as if it's the TV), using it as a dentist brush, tennis racket, fishing rod, etc? This is basically like that, where they reveal the console, but no games.

It's either at TGS this year or E3 next when we'll finally get hands on with some games. It's a pain in the arse to take though.

Well, I didn't put that line in my signature without a good reason after all. Smilie

I'm somehow still awake because I'm listening to the Zelda overture performed by that orchestra with my neat headphones. Mind = blown.

Ohh damn, lots of new stuff about Skyward Sword. It payed off staying up after all. Sounding awesome. Think we'll get footage of the stuff shown there later somewhere?

( Edited 08.06.2011 03:06 by SirLink )

Maybe. I dunno about Skyward, but who knows? I was thinking of having a media blackout of Skyward from E3 onwards Smilie At least in terms of story anyway. It's good they haven't revealed much of the story at all.

Yeah, it was more about the structure of the game. Visiting old places for new puzzles and stuff is going to be a welcome change to the formula. We luckily still don't know who the hell that guy who was fighting Link is, among other things.

I'm not sure if I'll actually watch the footage of Skyward Sword (like that weird world) if it's going to be available as I'd like to avoid too many spoilers. It's just going to be really hard for me to resist the urge.

Awesome! A Zelda-themed stage in Super Mario 3DS because of the 25th anniversary. Smilie

( Edited 08.06.2011 03:17 by SirLink )

Yes, I like the sound of this Zelda. Sounds like it will be one of the biggest yet. I hope anyway.

I'm finding the Kotaku feed pretty good (they had it going when they were meant to turn it off for Skyward demo too lol):
http://kotaku.com/5809704/live-at-nintendos-e3-2011-mystery-developer-qa

But yeah, that Zelda level in Mario sounds good! Mario and Luigi's Mansion will probably make great use of the 3D.

I think I'm going to sleep now, it's only Q&A stuff right now and I think most of the things I wanted to hear more about were covered.

I kinda wish that a new announcement is going to be waiting for me when I wake up but I better not get my hopes up for that. Those are all invested in the remaining days of E3 where we'll get quite a bit more info on Wii U, some nice Iwata Asks and developer interviews and other interesting stuff. E3 has just started. Smilie

I'll probs stay up just for the sake of it. See you same time tomorrow haha.

I might summarise some stuff if there's anything good.

PIKMIN 3 FOR WII U CONFIRMED BY MIYAMOTO!

Miyamoto said he wanted to release Pikmin 3 this year as it's the 10th anniversary of the franchise, but after seeing the Wii U's controller and glorious HD graphics, he thought Pikmin would be the perfect game for it, so he moved it to that. We also shouldn't have too long to wait for it because it was quite far along in development too. He also said he wasn't really supposed to announce this, but he wanted to, so he did!

That's really the biggest piece of news we got out of the roundtable tonight. Perhaps we'll get something else at tomorrow's roundtable too. No one asked about Xenoblade or Last Story, so still unsure about them for North America. But maybe we can still find out before the event ends.

Anyway, the second roundtable will be tomorrow at 2am again. Most likely about Wii U.

And now it's time for bed. I'm buggered.

I can now imagine Rhythm Heaven on the Wii U.

Our member of the week

For Wii, I'm personally still looking forward to the following titles in Europe :

Zelda Skyward Sword
Kirby Wii
Last Story
Xenoblade
The Grinder

There's also Rune Factory Tides of Destiny which I plan on importing from the US. And then we can still hope for some localization of the following Japanese titles :

Rodea The Sky Soldier
Earth Seeker
Pandora's Tower
Night of the Sacrifice
Project Zero 5
Dragon Quest X

Oh, small update on the Wii Vitality Sensor. Seems they haven't been able to get it working consistently with all players, but development continues, and will only bring it out once they get it working.

It does seem like the sort of thing that might not work with everyone, but it's a good concept, so it would still be interesting to see some games designed with it. But personally, I wouldn't care if it didn't come out either. All I want from Nintendo now is their main franchises in HD and online for Wii U.

Still a tiny bit of life left in the Wii yet. But a shame Wii games won't upscale on Wii U. I'm tempted to say I would prefer a Wii U version of Skyward Sword, but from what I've seen, it looks good anyway.

Yup, I was right. Sony selling the Vita at a loss.

this controller is genius! they have given us movement within a 3d space now they have given us another window into that 3d space.

imagine playing the latest zelda and looking up at the sun to shoot a arrow ala ocarina or walking in to a shop or house on the tv, and the view changes to first person on the controller and you have to look around your living space with it to find objects and sculltula.

its genius a form of VR is here. this is nintendo on minus the headaches. as always with nintendo their past is their future

Nintendo's conference as so has hazaard.. and GOD .. I hate the fact that they are secretive about everything. Reggie is annoying:

1)if he wants to provide value and not mention costs - which means the system will be priced at higher than the PS3, then INCLUDE GC PAD SUPPORT!

2)We still need a standard controller set up for those who dont want to play with Wiimotes..

3)Show us the good Wii games..

Wii Code: 6399-3866-6269-0745
PSN: SherWiinator Currently playing: LOZ: SS
Wishlist: Last Story, Pandora's tower, Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3

According to an interview between Japanese paper Nikkei and Iwata, the system will be around $250.

Edit: Oh wow, C3 news article about it went up exact same time I posted that.

Nintendo has recreated the original Ocarina of Time trailer for the 3DS version. The logo animation is just too epic again. If that's one guy making all of those, he really needs to be promoted! Smilie

It's been confirmed by Katsuya Eguchi that the disk capacity of the Wii U is 25GB.
