Can't believe I stayed up for that 2nd roundtable. Waste of time.
On using 2 controllers with the U:
Q: Will players use two touchscreen controllers or will they use just one new controller and the original Wii controls with the new console?
Our basic premise is that you can use one with a system. If we got to an idea of having multiple (controllers) it might be just more convenient for people to use their Nintendo 3DS and have a way to connect that.
That being said, we are doing research about if someone brings their controller to their friends house and they want to play together on Wii U to whether or not something like that would be possible.
On the console's online features:
Q: Will its internet connectivity be different to that on the last Wii?
We are designing it so you can connect it to the internet and it will have a lot more possibilities - it will be a lot more fun.
People do a lot of their web browsing individually, or they may look at their photos individually, but there are times when you'll be browsing and you want to show someone what you're looking at or you'll want to share your pictures with someone and I think this system will be handy for things like that and you'll be able to show people what you've been looking at and send that up to the TV screen. While they're looking at that you can continue searching and find the next thing you want to share with them.
This is scary. They still haven't outright explained the online for the system. Miyamoto dodges this question. If he thinks online is about sharing photos, that doesn't bode well. Dude, fans have been crying out for a proper online system forever! Just give it to us!
The impression I got from the roundtable with Ubi last night seemed to suggest all of the online features (friend adding, personal accounts, etc) were either game-only, or company-only. It didn't really suggest it was a console-wide system.
Could be wrong. I hope I am.
Anyways. Wii price down; new 3DS colour! - Japan-only at the mo.
And finally, PlayStation Vita likely to be region-free.
In a PlayStation Vita session for European and Australian press at E3 today, Michael Denny, Sony's Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe, confirmed that - to the best of his knowledge - Vita would be region free.
Killer Freaks From Outer Space actually looks pretty funny. Hopefully it will turn out better than Red Steel.
I hope they come out with Red Steel 3 as RS2 was amazing. Criminally overlooked and underated.
BTW... IS THERE ANY UPDATES ON XENOBLADE AND THE LAST STORY for the Wii?

EDIT : My bro told me the Killer Freaks look like mutant Rabbidz. Did Ubisoft make any comment along those lines ? Because I agree, they do look like mutant Rabbidz .

Apparently there are 3D videos of 3DS games from E3 on the eShop. I can't see any of them on there. Maybe its just America at the moment
Edit:
Also Amazon have put the PSVita up for£230

I've read somewhere that American 3DS owners can watch the E3 3DS trailers in 3D on the eShop. Can an American cubed3 reader confirm that ?
I saw that literally after I posted. Come on NoE I want my full 3D trailers!!! At least I know its not just me and seems to be in America exclusively

Safe to assume now that they won't be coming to the US, seeing as they were completley missing from E3. Xenoblade was shown in playable form at MCM in London already so we know it's coming to Europe for sure, and Last Story, though sort of confirmed for us, as yet to get any proper announcement even for Europe :s.EDIT : My bro told me the Killer Freaks look like mutant Rabbidz. I guess so Kafei...Its good for those (me included) that live in the EU - as we'll definitely get Xenoblade. They should highlight that as they are putting it in the work to get it localised!
Though, I don't understand Nintendo's quietness in the EU at least of these games? Why can't they say something, increase the anxiety in a good way, annnounce? I know the Wii's been on its last legs for a while.. but still!
I want Last Story as well... ugh* Nintendo sometimes frustrates me. Why can't they be open with things like this?
As for the Wii U bandwagon, I'm going to observe and see what happens. It would be nice if they released it in black too
DarkSiders II IS up and running on the Wii U
We have Darksiders II completely running on the Wii U right now,It took about five weeks. Coming into the show we were ready to go. We could have demonstrated it on the hardware but they [Nintendo] decided not to have full games shown in the booth.
LUIGI'S MANSION 2 Full E3 Demo
DEAD ISLAND (PS3, 360, PC) Gameplay
METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER HD (360, PS3)
I'm not sure what to make of Dead Island, when I heard about it I got really excited, then when I saw the gameplay I kind of switched off entirely. Its meant to be survival, but it just doesn't have that kind of vibe, it looks too happy and there are only ever a couple of really dozy zombies at a time, so its not very challenging. I know there are specials, ripped from Left 4 Dead no less, but even so. The entire XP interface makes me cringe as well. Its like they've mashed RPG, MMORPG's and Action and FPS into one package and I just don't think it looks right at all.
Ninja Gaiden 3 for Wii U Gets Dragon Sword-style Touchscreen Controls
From Kotaku:
"Team Ninja is bringing super ninja Ryu Hayabusa to Nintendo's new console, Wii U, with Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. Its the more unique version of Ninja Gaiden 3, thanks to the addition of (optional) touchscreen controls.Yosuke Hayashi, head of Team Ninja, tells Kotaku that the control scheme from Nintendo DS game Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is coming to the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3. The touchscreen-controlled Dragon Sword used screen taps to throw shurikens and move Ryu, swipes of the screen to jump and slash at enemies.
"It was almost like fate that we're making making Ninja Gaiden 3 and then we have the option to bring in Dragon Sword controls, that kind of gameplay, to a high spec console version," Hayashi said through a translator. "We feel we'll be able to give players a new kind of gameplay, a new feel with the new controller."
Hayashi said that more traditional, buttons and analog stick-based controls will be available to players of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.
Publisher Tecmo Koei hasn't put a date on the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3, but the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of that game are currently scheduled for "early 2012.""
Yeah, I put that video up on the Wii U thread yesterday ^^^.
It's "Deeper and Wider" than the Wii already.
Really dissapointed Beyond good and evil 2 was a no show. What was the point in getting everyone interested with HD rerelease of the old one
They even said there is no chance of a current gen release wtf, guess that could mean wiiu release but im guessing they will wait until all next gen consoles release.
Those confused by lack of MGS1 in the MGS HD Collection should read this. Konami would like to "re-imagine" MGS1 one day. Not just update the graphics, but everything including story, gameplay and the rest of it. Not on the cards at the mo, but some day.
"Obviously, we wanted to include it and make it a complete collection. However, as you know, Metal Gear Solid 1 was for the PSone. It has a very, very low polygon count," he explained."While at the time the game was something new and refreshing, just bringing it as is into HD probably wouldn't have that much meaning to us. We're doing two and three with a certain work flow where the goal is to take that game, preserve it and introduce it to a new generation. We can't really take that approach with Metal Gear Solid 1 because it's very dated at this point.
If we were going to do Metal Gear Solid 1 we'd want to take more time with it. Not just up-res the textures, not just make things look pretty and polished, but go back and tweak some of the gameplay, tweak the story to update things and do it properly. Not just a re-master but a re-imagining almost.
"We do want to do that sometime down the road but it will take more time. It's not something we're looking at doing right now."
From IGN:
Mario Kart fans who were displeased with the automatic power sliding in Mario Kart Wii will be pleased to know that this mechanic has been done away with. Mario Kart 3DS will instead be returning to a more traditional manual power slide that requires the player to tilt the circle pad left to right to activate it
I'm annoyed...
Nintendo perfected power sliding in Mario Kart Wii. They made it so people couldn't snake and it also felt great to control, in my opinion. Now it's like they're taking it a step backwards.
Actually, I agree. The one problem with online on Mario Kart DS was the snaking. I perfected it, but in the end, it wasn't much fun when it was more about who could snake the best. It didn't feel right on the people that couldn't do it.
MKWii's power sliding was easier for everyone to do.
I don't understand why some people even enjoy snaking. The race becomes about frantically trying to pull off the manoeuvre continuously, rather than being more relaxed and just enjoying it.
I'm disappointed about it, but hopefully it's still going to be good. That article also mentioned that coins will be making a return and the more you collect, the faster you'll go.
( Edited 13.06.2011 00:43 by Marzy )
Definitely. In contrast to MKWii, me and a mate play together online, and every single race is just pure fun. The only way they could please both types of players is to have the player pick to join matches online with power sliding, or without. Obviously not gonna happen.
