Nintendo's giving me a late birthday present. My birthday is June 9th.
I noticed this myself and I've seen others comment on it. Since the Xbox One event there has been a big drop in hostility towards Wii U in the comment sections of gaming websites. Things could certainly change after E3 and before launch of the other systems, but this Xbox One reveal has been a massive boost for Wii U's appeal (combined with some of the big upcoming games expected to be revealed).
I'm sure some of you have heard the latest E3 rumours flying around (like these) and it got me thinking about the Ambassador Program.
There's far more sales potential in here than Nintendo seem to realise.

Knowing how much people like free games, announcing the ambassador program after the price has already dropped seems daft! Let people have the chance to get into that deal, I'm confident a lot of people would.
- Announce a price drop and an Ambassador program
- Don't make it instant! Advertise all over the place saying "if you buy the Wii U before it gets a price drop you get these amazing (5-10) GameCube games totally free!" etc
- Tons of Wii U sales before the price drop from people who wants the GC games
- Tons of Wii U sales after the price drop b/c price drop.
Not a bad idea, but I would be concerned about the precedent this would set for all future Nintendo consoles. Many people already expect something like this for Wii U since Nintendo did it for the 3DS. If Nintendo actually does it for Wii U then people are going to wait to purchase future Nintendo consoles, expecting the same eventual price drop.
I think it would be a mistake to cut the price now. As everyone knows, games are what sell systems and there are going to be a lot of great games coming out in the second half of the year.
EDIT: Enjoyed reading that rumor thread you linked to. Who knows if it is actually true, but it gave enough hints to get you excited without actually spoiling anything (at least in the top half. The bottom half gets more specific - stopped reading there).

I personally think the price should be dropped if the PS4 or One are close to it in price, having the advantage of being the cheapest is probably one of the best advantages you can have as a system, and of course the games would help, but a price drop as well as an onslaught of games could get the Wii U far more sales than it would otherwise get.
Those rumours were a pretty interesting read, just gotta wait until e3!
Oh god I had such a terrible (and slightly strange) nightmare about E3. I was watching it in what looked like a giant gym and was sitting on a massive Wii U GamePad larger than me that was several meters up in the air. Then, Retro's new game was unveiled and it was a crappy looking football game. Most terrifying dream I had in years.

I'd buy it.
Ok, THIS, is BULLSHIT:

So Rayman Legends went from being an exclusive, to getting ported to the other consoles but still being the best version, TO NOW BEING INFERIOR TO THE VITA VERSION!
Ok Ubisoft, I could have forgiven you for the delay, but this was the last straw. I'm not going to pick up Rayman Legends on ANYTHING now. Not even in the bargain bins. Fuck you Ubisoft, you ruined everything.
Nintendo fans can't have anything, can they?
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Keep in mind the Murphy levels were previously Wii U exclusive, they're not on PS3 or 360, so it's probably that the Vita is just getting a handful of the Wii U's content.
Plus keep in mind that the Vita is in a far more dire situation than the Wii U and has been under 2mil sales worldwide for like 2 years now. It needs all it can get, possibly more than the Wii U does, and it getting some previously Wii U exclusive content isn't going to make people swarm to the Vita instead of the Wii U because (unfortunately) no one even owns a Vita in the first place.
I find it impossible to get angry at this move compared to the previous move. This is just getting a good game to more people, and a good game to another system that's sorely in need of good games.
If I had my way, I'd have it just on Wii U and Vita rather than on PS3 and 360, because they both really need a helping hand.
PS. Boycotting a game is not the best way to tell a company you want their games to stay exclusive. The less sales a game gets, the less that company is going to make games on that system, period. If ya wanna boycott a game to prove a point, you have to be reasonable about it, like boycotting SimCity to protest DRM. Honestly, the best way to "boycott" a game going to other systems is to simply buy the original, and none of the ports, that's all you can do. Missing out on a quality game to make a point no one will hear isn't gonna do you any favours either, unfortunately.
I'm not trying to boycott it. I hope Ubisoft continues to support the Wii U, because their games are great and fun. The reason I'm NOT buying it, is because I don't own a Vita and I don't feel like getting an inferior version of the game WITH MISSING CONTENT.

So apparently a big marketing push for the Wii U is already starting in the US, called the Wii U Summer Tour. It's advertising the system itself and a whole bunch of games, both old and new. The most interesting thing I saw there is a poster for Wind Waker HD featuring Link. He looks really damn good!

Fast fluid gameplay, just the way it should be!
What's the bet that they remove snaking again?

Already confirmed in IGN's demo playthrough.
People will find a way to abuse a game mechanic somehow.
Happened in MKWii with bikes.
I've never really been "hyped" for a Mario Kart game for a long time. Sure I've looked forward to 'em, but never full on hyped. Mario Kart 8 is probably the first time since Double Dash. Looks bloody brilliant.
Removing snaking is a good thing. The Wii version perfected the power slide, I don't get how anyone could like snaking better.
I'm definitely disappointed it's only 4 player offline though! Come on Nintendo, you proved 5 player could be great with games like Nintendo Land, so why are you limiting the best of party games to 4 player when you know 5 player is possible? Sonic AllStars Transformed did it and it was bloody amazing fun!
I play AllStars in 5 player pretty often, so it's just a shame to think that Mario Kart will be losing out in how many people can play at once.

I don't think any playtests mentioned motion controls.
