I could respond to each individual part of your post but I think your mind seems pretty set in believing what you want to believe; however I will say this.

That's a huge insulting generalisation, I know we're a Nintendo forum but we don't allow people to be insulted based on their views and tastes in consoles, there are many people here who (quite rightly) enjoy those systems, they have a lot to give, so please keep those offensive thoughts to yourself, I'm asking this as a mod.

I'd also like to say that there's (unfortunately) much more to gaming than game quality, there's business, in an increasingly competitive and expensive industry, poor success is not good at all, and that is the crux here. Whether you like western devs or not, they would bring success to the console in western regions, that is a fact, even if you think those games suck you cannot deny that games like CoD, Skyrim, and Madden, bring a lot of success to consoles and gaming as a whole.

it took hindsight for me to be right about the GC, I wasn't so happy with the wii as I was with snes/n64/GC.

Another example, right about the GC? Poor GC, because it didn't do very well at all, it had great games sure, but gosh it didn't get Nintendo much respect at all.

The rest of your post is also pretty ignorant, the Japanese industry has been stagnating, and they're trying to improve sure, but they struggle here and there. Look at Square (a company that I can't see supporting the WiiU anytime soon), they spent the entire generation making a small handful of games, most of which were disappointing, one of which still isn't even bloody finished. They have different development philosophies, they may have good game design but it's not as efficient.

I'm gonna stop here since I doubt you'll agree with me, but even I don't love western devs that much and I can see that Japanese devs are falling behind. Not all of them, just most. Also, poor console success is not a positive thing, I don't know how you can spin that at all. Yeah each and every console will end up with a quality library of games, but that doesn't always mean it's been a success, the company might regret a lot of mistakes they made. If Nintendo screw up and lose money due to lack of success, they won't be able to spend it to make the games you love so much. That's how the biz works, unfortunately.

I have had a great many consoles in my life and played a great many games, right now: I am playing system shock 2 and have most recently completed ni no kuni and am looking to get DD:dark arisen soon. Recently I enjoyed Dark souls very muchly.

As a mod, you are in something of a philosophical position.

I'm a lurker here only coming out every now and then to ejaculate my pomp and bombast when I can't hold it in but I've been reading this website for 10 years.

For example I know that you and linkyshinks currently have a disagreement (I think you're both right).

I've been reading your comments for years now SL and I like to and I will continue. I don't know you but I have come to understand your point of view and I respect it.

But you must stop with all this mod threat business. I don't mean to provoke you or annoy you, it's just, we live in a rapidly changing world where technology is such a big part of life and our traditional mores are not neccessarily going to be able to keep up with the changes technology brings.

As a mod you are in a sort of philosophical conundrum and, for me personally, there is far too much mod censorship on the internet (not here but for example the downranking of comments etc on some websites)
