Had that message on mobile devices before, so I'm pretty sure that's just YouTube being awkward about things.

I think this has something to do about the Wii U not displaying commercials properly (lately all I had was sound) so now all monetised videos won't display properly in the web browser I guess.

How the hell do I open Wii Mode direct to the gamepad, without having the TV on?

It refuses to enter Wii Mode unless the TV is displaying the WiiU.

When the BF is watching TV, I shouldn't have to interrupt him to boot into Wii Mode. :/

Hm... they might have to update that, nice catch!!

The U forces you to click something on the TV with the Wiimote, right? What you can try is aim at it without seeing it. The Wiimote's rumble function should help with it.

Even that doesn't work. It just comes up with the same message over and over until the TV is on. Smilie You can see where you're pointing on the TV because a shadow of the pointer appears on the gamepad.

Really??? How is the Wii U even supposed to know if the TV is doing anything with the signal?? That's just weird.

I'd report it to Nintendo. Their technical department should have a 'normal' phone number. Maybe even e-mail.

Will email them.

Gotta say, I LOVE the new Wii games on the gamepad feature. Will encourage me to continue with unfinished games like WarioLand and Other M. Smilie

Is anyone else really looking forward to Super Mario 3D World? I was going to get it before but after the latest trailer I'm totally hyped! The official Japanese website also has an orchestrated version of the main theme of the game that was in the E3 trailer and it's soooo catchy. Smilie

Yeah the latest trailer looks amazing. My only problem is that it's completely lacking in style. Sunshine had Delfino and Galaxy had Space. Here we get the generic mushroom kingdom look that we've had with all the NEW games and with 3D Land.

Delfino was aweful though. A tropical island felt so wrong in a Mario game.
But I do see what you mean. It will be interesting to see how they tie this together in a story. Seems like these new characters have something to do with it.

On the contrary, I loved Delfino specifically BECAUSE it was different from what you would expect from a Mario game. I found it surprisingly OK personally for him to hop onto buildings and the like, it needed that new variety to move forward.

Take Super Mario Land 2 6 Golden coins for example. Only 31 stages if memory serves right, and no two stages looked the same, each had its own style. A haunted house, on the moon, in a graveyard, out at sea, inside a whale, inside tree roots, inside a bee hive... Heck that Mario has to be the most original Nintendo ever put out (and that wasn't made by Miyamoto's team either!)

Me too, I don't get why people didn't like Sunshine, i warmed (see what i have done there Smilie ) to it very quickly.

Has anyone noticed some browser differences to the Wii U browser? I've noticed a few subtle touches that have made it better in the latest update. Strangely my Wii U didn't work downstairs but now it does...i wonder if they were able to increase the range of the console? Although I doubt that would be the case? Anyone else noticed this?

Oh about Youtube not working on Wii U: there is a temporary solution. But it's not pretty.

In the Wii U browser settings, you need to change the agent from Wii U to Internet Explorer (Touch). Then you can at least stream the videos in the browser, but it won't show up as a pull-down video like it should.

I hope they solve their issues with Youtube soon. I guess this solution proves that it's not the Wii U that's unable, but rather the settings of Youtube.

Oh man, I love Wii Sports Club!!!

So much fun. I was only going to play for an hour or so and ended up playing over three hours. Oops.

I love that it's not just a straight port. All the mini-games are different and there are some tweaks to the game play (like with tennis).

Then there's the obvious significant addition of online which has been fantastic. Been playing all night without any lag or hiccups and matchmaking for both tennis and bowling has been near instant. No time to even play the warm up game while you wait.

Some might dismiss it as just a quick port to cash in on the Wii Sports name. Maybe it technically is, but there was serious development effort put into the game and I'm already feeling like it was well worth the money.

Ive been thinking of getting Wii Party U as that looks quite fun to play and comes with a WiiMote (not that i need one)

Has anyone got it and thought its worth a £35 purchase?

I think it's a great deal, especially when you can use a WiiMote+. As for the game itself, I have no idea... The minigames seem fun enough, but I have no idea if it would entertain me as a single player.

So I thought this was pretty interesting. I was going around to some stores on Christmas Eve for some last minute gift shopping, and I always check the game sections. To my surprise, every store I went to had tons of X1's and PS4's in stock, but were out of Wii U's. Also, Super Mario 3D World was sold out at a couple of the stores. I thought it would be the complete opposite of what I saw.

Also, the Nintendo Network is down, presumably from all the new people trying to download games and stuff.

Working like a fiend isn't very fun... and surprisingly isn't very fiendish either.

Pretty pretty cool news!

Yesterday we had tons of fun on the Wii U. I invited 3-4 friends. One girl hadn't played a single video game in the last 15 years, so we let her play LEGO City Undercover. Smilie She had fun playing, we had fun watching.
After she had to leave, the 4 of us did some SM3DW (1 girl kept complaining that she had no idea what was going on and how we were all going too fast for her... Smilie ), Wii Sports Club (free 24h trial, 100-pin bowling was epic :p ) and Rayman Legends.

It's evenings like these that make the console totally worth the money.

That may have been the first star I've ever given away for that last post canyarion. Can't remember if I ever have before. probably have.

There's a lot of shit flung about the internet in all directions.

But that made me happy.

I haven't got a wii U yet. And sometimes I wonder if I'm just one of those religious/political zealots. Except for nintendo.

And that freaks me out. Cos why?

I mean how can I be so sure that I want a wii U if I've still yet to play on one properly.

But a nintendo fan is for life.

Things can remain unsaid.

We know nintendo

Even if we share nothing else. We just know.

So I better pull 200 quid out of somewhere. It's about time.

(Well, I'm late actually. I was day one for gc obvs)

SUDDEN EPIPHANY: it's the gamecubes fault. It was just too good and that generation was just too unfair. There were just too many wrong people and then afterwards they all turned round and pretended they had gamecubes. That's why I'm such a psychopath about nintendo. I'm still butthurt about the gc.

All I know is that I will never touch a microsoft product. And I mean it.

Why did the gamecube have to be so good?

Oh well now we have the 3ds which is like the best console ever 2

DEATH TO MICROSOFT

sorry way off topic again. hai guys I'm in the wii u thread and I don't have a wii u

*gets ignored*

Thanks! Smilie I still haven't played through all my Wii U games... but I have to admit that I have a job and lots of hobbies. Looking forward to playing more Rayman Legends!

I wonder if Nintendo would pull out a retro-styled GC controller for Smash (like how they had a SNES controller for the Wii).

One could dream of such possibilities.

I was a huge fan of the GC era, the last time we got to see a real good spread of Nintendo's franchises. I am just butthurt that Nintendo don't like their racing franchies or Starfox. So i cherish the GC for games like 1080, Waverace and Fzero.

Kingdom, no need to hate on the competition though, there are still some fairly good games on rival machines. Last generation saw greats like Uncharted, Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gears of War and more. I am sure that this generation will be the same too. The benefit of being a Nintendo fan is that you will be treated to gaming gold with games like Smash, Zelda, Mario while those too focussed on their Xbox1's and PS4 will never get to see the light of day with the Wii U.

Consider yourself lucky Smilie

I have a 250 Stars code for Club Nintendo Europe if anyone wants to trade. I have a spare for Ocarina of Time 3DS. Anyone be ever so nice to trade me a code for this one?

Thanks

Our member of the week

I already registered Ocarina of Time although I do have a code to trade (just don't know what game it is for, but the Nintendo site tells me I already registered that game and can't register a second time the same game with a different code *scratches head*

I get given codes from friends who find no use for them, so I lose track of what I already registered XD.
