That's really cool, but the problem with placing objects on the pad is that sooner or later, you'll have 20 separate objects. Sorta like the new spyro game. Not my type of thing really. I'd rather collect things in games, not outside of them.

Hear hear! The tablet looks sweet though.

I'd say it's the opposite for a lot of people actually, especially children. I mean now they can buy toys to play with that actually have an effect on their games, I would have fucking loved that when I was a kid.
Though I do wonder if their is a limit to using this kinds of power ups, would break the game if their wasn't some kind of limit.

Also was that music at the end from back to the future?

Here's a bit of a conversation between two people that supposedly have inside knowledge of Wii U dev kits. They're discussing the talk of earlier today pertaining to Wii U dev kits going wireless in June.

Person 1: Really weird, it's conflicting with what i've heard. I'm pretty sure the dev kits, maybe at least from revision 3 (and more surely for revision 4), have the option to switch between wired and wireless mode. Now, maybe the DRC weren't wireless until a few months, but even then, it should be the case now. I could be wrong though, perhaps the dev kits themselves are ready for wireless communication with the DRC, but the DRC prototypes in possession of third-parties aren't.

Person 2: Yeah, seems strange. Maybe their sources are smaller/ less important studios and really won't get the newer pads for a while. The latest pad (product id DK-DEV-V5) is wireless. Also looks like Nintendo uses Ni-Fi for the controller now (2.4 or 5GHz), so range shouldn't be limited to a single room - possibly not even just a single floor.

“Nintendo… has to release hardware that’s of the expectations of the gamer today. “… I don’t think we would be bringing the game to a system that would be inferior to current gen. (HD) systems.” - Craig Harris, SEGA (Ex-IGN Nintendo)

Yeah, I've been reading that thread on the GAF for a while now, and IdeaMan seems to have a lot of Old data, and if you read his posts he has no idea what he's talking about half the time and his info's out of date, and Wsippel isn't even worth looking at, he's just guessing random things and stating them as fact.

Craig Harris is a reliable source in this case.

I was thinking about somthing like that the other day, like basically a small memory card for carrying your profile around.
But if it could street pass aswell...that would be cool, espcially if it was compatible with 3DS streetpassers aswell.

Our member of the week

The icing on the cake would be if you could keep your own friend code accross both the 3DS and WiiU, like keep the exact same friends list, both synced, meaning that people streetpassed with the gamercard could be added to your friends list and be played online with not only on WiiU, but also on 3DS.

And then also vice versa, if their were to make it possible for people you streetpass with your 3DS could be added to your own friends list on your handheld, and be added instantaneously to your gamercard as well (though it would need to be updated through the WiiU console itself to be resnyced.

That would be awesome Smilie.

I think that is what Nintendo are currently working on their Nintendo Network, one friend code for all systems. The NFC feature sounds really cool would be great to see what Nintendo do with that.

Onto a different matter, it just cross my mind now and been thinking about, will Nintendo start doing HD collections just like other developers have? They certainly have the library of games to do that, but is it something that Nintendo will do.

I would definitely like to see a Legend of Zelda HD Collection, with Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

im all for HD collections but not at retail and not so early into the consoles life cycle. maybe when the wiiu is on its last legs kinda like how the wii is now.

Nah, they just need to do Wind Waker HD. Ocarina and likely Majora are/will be on 3DS, TP is on Wii. WW would be the only one not playable on current systems, and the only one really necessary. Would be amazing in HD.

Would much rather a brand new HD Celda for U instead, though.

What Az said, a new cel-shaded Zelda for Wii U.

A retail disc with HD Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword - I'd buy that at full price. Anything else and they can get bent. There has been far too much recycling of old products, high definition is probably one of the few valid reasons I can think of for remakes to be worth it. But as a thank you to fans who have bought the same games repeatedly over the decades, I hope they ensure some real package value.

Or perhaps.. HD Wind Waker included with the console at launch?

I'd much rather a Zelda with a new style than another Celda, unless they can make it look really different to WW and still lovely.

I'm seriously so fed up of Toon Link giev me new settings and characters and new designs for Zelda and Link plz.
Plus maybe they'll offer GC titles for virtual download and they can release WWHD that way for a lower price there are enough ports selling at fullprice nowadays.

Toon Link has been abused to hell and back. Started in one of the best Zelda entries to date with WW, then the average DS games never did the cel-shaded style any justice at all. Toon Link should be on consoles, not handhelds.

Next to new Celda, though, I want an Alice-inspired Zelda. Gothic steampunk style would fit Zelda so well. Nintendo have proven they have the balls to step into new territory, as seen with Wind Waker, not giving a shit what people think. Let's see it happen again!

Look at these screens and tell me you don't want a Zelda like this. Twilight Princess bears a bit of resemblance with the twilight realms, but there is so much more to Alice that would work perfectly for Zelda. A lot of pics, so shall spoiler them, but do take a look if you haven't played Alice before! Such a gorgeous game.

YES PLEASE.
I've been wanting a steampunk Zelda for years now help.

Mock up I have made.

Spot on. I remember thinking about the sea chart on the tablet a while back. It's absolutely perfect. Remember the Tingle Tuner? That could all be built in to the U tablet, and you could easily make notes on the map for locations of things, just like you write on the maps in the DS Zeldas. If they do make WWHD, I hope they incorporate these things into it. It's ideal.

WWHD with the features you guys have mentioned would be pretty damn amazing. It would work so well, it needs to happen! Smilie I don't care if it's a digital or physical release... just do it.

Im sure they can get the map to work in realtime with the game, instead of pausing, then checking the map, then exiting, now all you have to do is peep at the U tablet. The tingle GBA inclusion will still be able function as normal, I managed to hookup my GBA to the gamecube im sure this will function too. WWHD has to happen!!! Smilie

Also..... did they forget that even if Nintendo lost 500 - 600 mil, sony lost 6 bil.... that's 12 times - 10 times more.

Remember, you always have to take the 'Nintendo factor' into account. As we all know, any even slightly negative news about Nintendo are automatically 100 times worse than they actually are. Smilie

How's this for bad news?

Good read on EuroGamer: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-in-theory-nintendo-next-gen-challenge

Basically they expect the Wii U to use a comparable CPU/GPU as the current gen consoles, but it will probably have much more RAM and run more efficiently.

Sounds reasonable to me.
