What Zelda concert?
Well, if you should know
http://www.cubed3.com/news/17879/1/zelda-symphony-heading-to-london-in-may.html
My copy of Hyrule Historia is on the way from Amazon. Looking forward to it.
Awesome art (possible Skyward Sword Spoilers)
My copy of Hyrule Historia should've arrived yesterday it didn't.
Darn Sundays! I want my post!
Also wow that art is amazing x-x it must have taken forever.
Aaargh now I'm really unsure. A fwe days ago Amazon mailed me to tell my CC didn't work. Which is correct, because I have just received a new one. So I entered the new details... but so far I haven't heard from them again.
I guess I should just be patient and wait for it to arrive.
I only just literally received a dispatch email, estimated for delivery on Feb 1st, this Friday. So I wouldn't worry. I'm sure we'll all be getting them this week or early next.
My Amazon order said:
The items listed below will actually be dispatched sooner than we had originally expected based on the new release date:Akira Himekawa, et al "The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia"
Previous estimated arrival date: February 01 2013 - February 01 2013
New estimated arrival date: January 29 2013 - January 29 2013
Mine is due for the 31st! No fair...how come y'all getting it sooner than me!
I preordered ages ago!!!
I also pre-ordered ages ago (the normal edition), they sent me an email saying "your item has been dispatched sooner than expected!" and said it'd be with me on the 26th (yesterday) since I had Amazon Prime at the time.
Hoping I at least get it tomorrow.
Why does everyone have one of these except for me GRRRR, paint me extremely jealous.
Sweet! Mine finally arrived!
Yay, gz! You're in the UK, right? I hope mine won't take too long, but I'll be patient.
In other Zelda news: today I beat TLoZ (NES/GBA) for the second time! I really learned to love that game.
I started Adventure of Link right away, but it's so different and difficult.
I find the first Zelda more difficult, I never have any idea where to go or what to do
And yep I'm in the UK! I know a couple other people have theirs too.
You should make your own map for TLoZ, that's so much fun! Also for the last 2 dungeons or so, because it's easy to get lost there.
I have played TLoZ but I found it to be way more difficult than The Adventure of Link and so I've only just finished it.
Is it shameful to call myself a Zelda fan when I've never even come near to completing Zelda I or II I wonder if they'd ever remake them.
I don't know I think it is unlikely though because they made them such a long time a go, well you never know they just might look they are making a remake for WW so why not the others.
I don't really see the point in remaking them. They're so old, Nintendo would have to completely change them. The only thing that would be left is the story (or rather place in the timeline) and perhaps some general locations/themes.
I started AoL..... and man it's hard. I keep dying on the boss of the 2nd temple, urgh!!
I haven't read all this thread but I just wanted to say all the zelda are fabulous but in answer to the op's question: "which is my favourite".
I think majora is a sickeningly good game. I do not think there has been a game since that is as good as majora.
That includes things like portal 2 and monster hunter which I think are amazing and I could go on all day giving examples of brilliant games and what it is about their design which makes them so.
What is it about majora? Well the moon for a start. Waiting three days and watching the people (who you have come to know like no other game) packing their bags in vain. Knowing that no exodus will save them.
But I usually point to two things. The revolutionary, daring tension inducing and potentially punishing save system which no-one has had the balls (not even nintendo) to repeat or build on (you could say dark souls but actually I think it's save system is deceptively forgiving.) And which would be the foundation of my game if I ever got the chance to make it.
And the diary. The fucking diary! Amazing.
If you were to ask me which moment in videogames stands out above all others as the most best most poignant moment. The moment that can stand alongside the experiences the great books and films have given me in emotional intensity.
I might first say facing off against ash in pokemon silver with my level 50 team vs his level 70 team. The three dots (or ellipsis) the pause, the music: da da da da da da da daaaaa da da da da da da you know the one. And then beating him with that same team 20 lvls his junior. That's right mutherfucker should have evolved your pikachu shouldn't you!
Or I might say simply arriving at dragon roost island and listening to the music and watching the ash and embers swirling about me, but then I am a massive fanboy and I might have been getting ahead of myself.
But really why am I a massive fanboy? Well ocarina, super mario world, pokemon red, links awakening...but really..
It's because once I sat in anju's hotel room and read that love letter after trying many different strategies and failing many times in many ways to get kafei and anju back together. I read the letter and I sat and I watched the moon crash into termina. It was haunting, poignant and beautiful, an experience unlike any I had experienced from any book or film.
I knew that I would get anju and kafei back together before the world ended or I would die trying.
And I would die trying and so would they die because I knew that in order to get them back together I must forgo any attempt to save termina. That if I was to see them back together it would be at the cost of everyone in terminas life and that they would only be together for a moment before the world ends or I reversed time to undo everything that had happened.
There has not been a more beautiful moment in my gaming career than those desperate realisations in that hotel room with the moon ominously grinning at me overhead as the world got weird and dark and the music got strange.
What an astonishing masterpiece. And the redead bit. The little girl whose dad is a redead. I mean, videogames are all about this is mine. I take this I smash your pot, I kill him, How dare he provide adequate resistance to my sword he dies and then the guilt. For I had meddled. The player, just by exp[loring and collecting had stumbled on something they shouldn't (and it was quite a clever little puzzle tht had got me here in this basement not this shape goes in this slot I had actually had to observe for once to look at body language to treat the game as real not just bash my way through, for once a game had forced me to think and take it seriously and treat it as real)
And look what I had done, you think as a gamer it's all yours for the plunder and so had I, I had connived my way in like a viking and was here to plunder and what had I done? I had meddled in this poor girls secrets, I had decieved her like the big bad wolf and barged my way in and I had murdered her father in cold blood and I could hear her coming down the stairs she would find me here by the corpse of her dead father.
what an afwul violation of her trust of her fragile desperate existence in this undead desert what an awful sin I had committed.
I cannot describe how bad I felt for this little girl. How guilty I felt for my wanton rupee lust and callous indifference for the consequences of my curiosity and desire for plunder. For a second I felt like I had murdered a real human being, the fear that came over me the desperate desire to cover up my sin to find a way to hide it. My heart dropped when I realised what I had done but it skipped a beat when I realised I would be found. It skipped a fucking beat. The shame.
Now show me a game which can do these things, which can elicit these emotions.
What an incredible masterpiece. What an incredibly beautiful game. A game that good can only come from trying to match ocarina, a seemingly impossible task and majora cemented it and it has not changed.
In nintendo we trust! (sorry for length)
Haha, thanks for the post.
In other Zelda news: my Hyrule Historia has shipped! It's cheaper than I hoped, I'm paying €22.74. It should be here within a week.
Yeah Majora's mask is the stuff, it includes lots of things which I really liked, though I still think that WW and OoT are amazing though there are some things from MM I wish they had included in the sequels.
My Hyrule Historia arrived! Woop woop! Its well worth the £16 i paid for it! For those who haven't purchased it yet then get on over to Amazon or wherever and get it!
Also @WiiUawesome...that was a mighty post... i agree with you MM comments!
I thank you greatly my good sir, it is a real shame that some stuff has not been included from MM into lets say SS or OoT but maybe just maybe who knows they might include some of that in the new zelda mentioned by Eiji Aonuma in that nintendo direct broadcast. Who knows..
Got HH! Sooner than expected. This thing is HUGE! Its much better than I had hoped for.
Well I guess I should get it some time round, I still can't believe that Nintendo are making a WW remake for WiiU it is so amazingly epic.
