Uhm... it's actually professional to look at the whole world instead of just your own country.
Anyway, I'll agree this time... Nintendo is late with a lot of stuff. I'm still playing the launch games, but I'll run out really soon. Where are the new games? Where are the game announcements?
Nintendo are holding back! They are awaiting for Sony and Microsoft to play their cards. In all fairness i would say there is more than enough content out there for the average "Nintendo" gamer to be getting on with.
I'd reccomend Rayman when it comes out as that seems like it could be a right laugh.
I think E3 and TGS could be huge for Nintendo providing that we see Sony and Microsoft play their cards. 3D Mario, New Zelda, Starfox, Metroid, Smash Bros update. I think we will see some killer Nintendo IP's for the Wii U.
I am more worried about 3rd party support, but as i mentioned earlier in this thread i would be more than satisfied with the above! 19 of the 24 Wii games i own are developed by Nintendo, the only non-Nintendo games i have are Red Steel 2, The Conduit, Sonic Colours, Tatsunoko VS Capcom and a Guitar Hero game.
Who needs 3rd parties!
They do seemingly miss the boat often, but then Nintendo haven't been waiting for it. I think this is something they got away with in the past, but not this time. Microsoft and Sony appear to be content in perfecting their consoles, rather than being rushed into releasing them like before.
Everything rests on software for Nintendo, because it seems Wii U wont be unique for long - both Sony and Microsoft will have tablet support for their consoles, with the addition of CPU's. Nintendo's hardware isn't doing anything to impress the gamers it had hoped to. Nintendo's machine simply cannot compare with these specs below, so the only way to make ground is software, but I really don't think it will be enough this gen - I cannot see the Wii U selling as many as the Wii did, and Nintendo's game design has become tired and inconsistent.

Yeah, I bet that'll all be nice and affordable.
And I personally bet that developing games that take full advantage of all these trinkets will be super affordable for the average developer too , resulting in super high profits for them.
I expect it will cost around £400 - 450. with the PS4 costing about the same. The two companies will be flaunting the very best graphics capability, while also pointing to Wii U for comparison. It will not look good for Nintendo once that starts happening, these long rumoured high-spec games have been in development for more than two years now, they're being readied to launch with these consoles. This time there will be no waiting for premium quality software, in turn allowing Nintendo to make ground. After seeing these games, paying an extra £100 will be no big deal at all, knowing it secures the best graphics and gamer friendly features, without any fuss down the line. Buying a Wii U on the other-hand, raises on-going concerns many would rather do without.Games may go up by $5 in NA, and possibly 10e for the very biggest games in Europe, but for the most part, I expect software to cost pretty much the same. Most consumers are unwilling to pay more for software. Companies will look to increase revenue by other means.Look at how well the past gen went for Nintendo, very few if any broke development projects into three teams. Two on spec par is manageable, as three would be, but having one under-par is more costly and labour intensive than many seem to think. In the last gen it wasn't even worth it with Nintendo's audience numbers. I expect a slew of mobile games, I can see smaller developers using Wii U as a springboard for larger projects. And while the Wii U won't be short on tailored and casual software from the bulk of fully fledged console developers, I can see the big companies shunning it over time, with their biggest titles. The biggest games will be much better accommodated for on Durango and Orbis, reducing spec and fragmenting development is costly. Creating high-spec games for an audience in want of the very best, is not. With every gen the expectations rise, Nintendo don't even acknowledge this.
£400- 450 will mean they're stone dead on arrival. £350 is the max they can charge if they want to be more successful than an ngage.
Yeah there's exciting and then there's affordable, two very different demographics and I don't think that powerful expensive machines are going to start strong right away. Especially in an industry that is quickly becoming oversaturated again, new iPods and phones and handheld models and consoles every year? Not affordable.
Of course Sony and MS probably expect this, they're going to be releasing them expecting the ball to start rolling slowly and then pick up the pace once Nintendo's game slows down. A valid tactic anyway.
Either way this is the WiiU thread, relevant digressions are ok but if ya'll wanna start PS4 or NextBox rumour threads then that'd be welcomed too.
Nintendo is definitely punishing the early adopters, the fact that the retail price on Wii U's have dropped significantly since release. Something i am very angry about...i didn't expect a price drop until the release of the other consoles.
I think Nintendo will really try to undercut these consoles by time of release, i could see a Wii U premium costing around £210 which would really be a significantly lower price than the PS4/360.
Personally, if i would recommend those who don't have a Wii U to hold off, there really isn't any reason to own one, with hindsight i wish i had purchased a 3DS instead and waited for the Wii U.
Price drops for Wii U? Where?
Here in Holland it pretty much dropped on launch day. Most stores were trying to sell the Premium for €350 or €360... until some stores sold them for €326. Most stores followed on day one.
I'm very happy with my Wii U. I play a lot of Nano Assault Neo. I've almost 'beat' Mario but there's a lot of extra stuff to do. Nintendo Land is then waiting for me to play some more singleplayer. Oh, I haven't had enough time for Trine 2!! Lovely game, totally worth the price.
Once I finish all that, Rayman Legends will be out.
Anyway, I'm really curious how SONY/MS will do this generation. I like good graphics, but a few years ago I realized that PC will have better graphics within a few years after the console releases. So I'll be upgrading my PC in a few years and enjoy all the best looking games, while I get my Nintendo fix from the U!
Zavvi here in the UK started selling the premium packs for £225! The going retail rate here in the UK at launch was around £289-£309 so thats a considerable drop!
I agree though, i think there is enough for owners to occupy themselves with but now the initial hype is over i would recommend those who havent got one to hold back. Maybe wait for features like TVii and the pre-installed patches (hopefully giving more space on the HDD) but there really needs to be a AAA title released
WIND WAKER HD! <3
Monolithsofts RPG!
VC games with miiverse + gamepad play for 99p!
Load times sped up in an update!
I've got nothing left to complain about lol
It's not even only The Wind Waker HD...those screens they showed put any 1080p Dolphin screens to shame. It's one of my favourite Zelda games, so I'm really glad it gets a chance to be discovered by a lot more people in a really nicely updated way that I can't possibly resist buying either.
What really blew my mind is Monolith Soft's new JRPG. My excitement is off the charts!!!! It looks like it's taking inspiration from Xenoblade and just goes completely crazy with it on a new, much more powerful system. Can't. fucking. wait!!
Oh man, I thought they'd pull a Skyward Sword and at least reveal an image haha. But really, this is exactly what Nintendo needed. This E3 is gonna be incredible, hope they have one or two more games up their sleeves!

Well I'd expect something from the project zero team and retro studios. Plus i think they'll show an FMV of Smash Bros.
Anyone else noticed how Iwata kept saying he had one more game to announce and just kept going anyway?

Holy crapola ladies and gents, this Nintendo Direct was even better than last year's E3, and this is probably only a fraction of what will be shown at E3! Suddenly my hopes for the WiiU are soaring, with obscure but wonderful looking titles coming within the first year of the system's release, the WiiU already seems like a Wii beater to me, in first party games that is.

And Wind Waker! A full on remake rather than an upscaled port is more than anyone asked for! And holy shit Monolith's game looks even more gorgeous than most of the PS3 or 360's best offerings x-x

SuperLink said:And Wind Waker! A full on remake rather than an upscaled port is more than anyone asked for!Ehm, I asked for it. I always figured "Why simply port/upscale such a pretty game? It needs at least uprendering. And while they're at it, they should fix some annoying parts."
I hope they get rid of the slow way to change the wind direction. And hopefully they'll improve the Triforce fetch quest, or finally finish those dungeons they had to remove from the final game.
This is why I love Nintendo. Whilst Capcom, Kojima, Konami, etc. roll out those HD collections, or even HD versions of previous games (Okami, RE4, MGS Peacewalker, etc.) Nintendo actually does a brilliant job in re-releasing games.
Ocarina of Time 3D was a brilliant remake and Wind Waker HD looks like even more of an upgrade, since it's a COMPLETE revamp. I'll definitely be picking it up when it releases.
I'm hoping for Wind Waker Master Quest.

I haven't tested the 50Hz thing yet and I don't know all the differences, but from what I've heard, it's pretty disappointing!
