Can I ask about Rayman Legends, does it play like Origins or is it true that player 1 has to take control of Murfy instead of Rayman?

No, you can play singleplayer as Rayman on the Wii U GamePad alone, Nintendo wasn't showing that but the rep said so when I asked. It feels tighter than Origins, they've upped the quality in every area.
Great game, very impressed with it, after beating a coop stage with a friend, I'm sold on it.
Turtlebeach for Wii U. A new model is due for release early next year costing £40-50 (N11 for Wii U)
(About £30)

http://masseffect.bioware.com/about/trilogy/Kick in the nuts for Nintendo gamers eh? Makes me wonder why they didn't just wait and release this on WiiU instead, geez.
(also find it funny that it advertises 3 games as 75+ hours when individual Tales games are advertised as 80+ hours each
)
The timing for this announcement mystifies me too. Why would anyone buy ME3 on the Wii U soon when they are bringing out a trilogy anyway? Sure, there will be people who won't know about it but this looks more like they're just looking for an excuse to say "Oh, ME3 didn't sell on the Wii U. Let's give up on it, guys!". With decisions like this, they're just setting themselves up for (rightfully so) poor sales.
Glad to hear that LS!

I really don't understand their logic behind this decision. Since other platforms have all or in the PS3's case 2 of the 3 games, a trilogy would have been more convenient on the Wii U than on any other platform, yet they only give it ME3.The timing for this announcement mystifies me too. Is this just gonna be their excuse to say 'our games don't sell on WiiU' when they killed those sales themselves?
I hope WiiU gets the Trilogy treatment sometimes next year at least.
Think about it Bioware, Nintendo fans have missed ME1 and 2, how many of em do you think are gonna buy ME3 out of worry of missing something? (it was a weird decision in the first place, it's good to get Bioware support but..)
A strong release like METrilogy on launch would probably get.. a huge amount of Nintendo's playerbase on board the ME train.
Simply bizarre business decision.

I don't think there are Bioware fans who would go for a Wii as their exclusive game system. It's nice for those to have a Mass Effect game so they can have a taste of what is available on more capable machines though. But if you're into the type of games Bioware makes, you either get a good pc or a powerful console.
The release of part 3 to Wii owners cuold be an experiment I suppose. To see if there are Nintendo gamers who would be interested in this type of game. But more likely, it's a deal they made with Nintendo - so Nintendo can show off a big game with incredible graphics on their console as marketing. I don't think Bioware is really interested in supporting a console they have to put more effort in(downgrading/cutting content even), besides everything they do already to get the most out of more alike systems and focus on producing the best games they can.
PC Gamer article calls Wii U a "toy computer"
That must have hurt Nintendo's feelings. I hope Iwata doesn't get depressed now. 'they all mocku me! raaaaargh!'
Dude, who cares.
Clueless BBC reporter, questions equally inept Nintendo marketing head. How she was unable to answer the [dumb] Vita question in a thorough and fitting manner, begs belief.
Wii U will need all the support it can get if Nintendo has people as inept as her working for the company.
It's the BBC being the BBC, and unfortunately we can't do much about that :/.

To be fair to her, she was put on the spot. It's not always easy to come up with the answers quickly, I would have done the same.
I am being perfectly fair, she's "head of marketing", it's her role to sell the Wii U at every opportunity, her job involves being on the spot always. She doesn't need to "come up with answers" to simple questions, she should know them all intimately, along with all the possible questions, and the many criticisms already voiced by the media concerning this product.
If she cannot defend the console when asked a very simple question, she should have no role of this sort within the company - that's being fair, to people with balls below her.
You don't work in PR or marketing, I can see why
Easily the most pathetic Nintendo interview I've seen in all my years. People with no metal should not be in the business of marketing a global product of this sort, it's a simple as that / America gets the likes of Perrin Kaplan, while we get this inept woman. Even Cammie Dunaway could have done a better job!.

She probably wasn't expecting to be argued with! Most press people just listen to the average PR statements she probably wasn't expecting to actually have to counter statements about the Vita.
Still though it's not an excuse like LS said she's the director of marketing?? And if you're the head of marketing for a new console shouldn't you be like.. good at it. It's your job to sell the console and tell people why it's not like other things out there she's being paid to tell people 'it's not like the vita i promise just play it and see look it's magic ok'
Still that said the BBC guy himself could have been much snarkier about it than he was even though he also got his facts mixed up.
All in all yeah she needs some more killer marketing skills cause things will probably only get tougher!
EDIT: Respectfully deleted my next post. Also to keep double posting to a minimum, you should keep double posting to a minimum too if possible LS..
But Marz' don't worry about it ok? I see where you're coming from and I also feel pretty bad for her.. but in the working world you can't just put every error down to 'to err is human'. It's a dog eat dog world.
She probably got a nice juicy paycheck for that anyway.
EDIT2: Nintendo should still hire me for marketing c'mon Nintendo you know you want to.

I don't think she was really into it judging from the hands in the pockets stance. She might be realising marketing is just about the most depressing job out there and maybe we should be surprised she's been in it for this long already.
I bet the average Nintendo fanboy could have done a better job.
Aaanyway, I've seen more confirmation of that NA launch line-up. 23 retail games + 7 e-Shop = 30 games at launch!!! Pretty amazing, even though the killer app might be missing.
Oh, Little Inferno is supposed to be out at launch. I hope it's good, I loved World of Goo.
Is The Wonderful 101 a launch title? From trailers it looks kinda eh but I've heard playtesters say it's really something else! I wasn't interested in it before and now I am.
I guess I should support Platinum too I love those guys so I think I'll get it.
The Wonderful 101 is set for March 2013.
I won't be getting a Wii U until next year I think, I need a job and some monies.

Impressions
***** After playing the latest demo of PlatinumGames first Wii U title, I'm even more eager to get my hands on every single one if The Wonderful 101 (especially that fat dude with the lolipops in his bag lol). This game is so fucking heart warming, but that warming isn't just born from it's awesome character art, which I happen to think conists of an array of characters that could easily grace any quality videogame, oh no, this about an overt abundance of quality which this game has all over, and it's effect on the little kid core, in all of us. This game stokes up that core like no other I've experienced in a very long time.
One of the things that impressed me most is how well this game controls, and how fun those controls are to initiate in battles, it's almost as if Hideki Kamiya is aware of the basic science of the fun that can come via controller inputs. Within mere minutes of playing, I was slinkying and jellying around in battle like a pro! (- your team morphs into a large slinky to evade, and a large wobbly jelly to block enemies, this is done via the L & R shoulder buttons).
As far as the games touch controls, I found myelf not even needing to glance at the touch screen, why?, because the game gave me absolute faith and appreciation of it's controls. Draw a circle - morph into a big fist to bash the crap out of stuff. Draw a line from the bottom up - morphs you into a big sword. Draw an L - morph into large gun to fire. it's all very simple and feels great in combat when combined with the slinky and jelly, mentioned earlier.
All these powers appear to have secondary uses in the game also, they can be used to overcome environmental hazards. For instance, the hand can be used to open up things or turn rotary handles, while the sword can be used a faux ladder to climb up stuff. The controls also rather interestingly share nuances his other game, Okami, this connection is evident when rounding up new recruits, this is done by drawing a line around them with the right analogue stick. Doing so feels very Okami-esque. Precison ins't required when rounding up these peeps, the mechanic appears to be forgiving, drawing a line near to a guy will round them up fast. It's fast and efficient - a good control method.
The gameplay is fucking fun!, I think such language has to be applied when describing this game. I totally felt like a kid playing it, instantly reminded of the times playing on the carpet bashing all my toys togethter in epic battles. This game is essentially the videogame form of that, it taps directly into these experiences most of us will of had in our childhoods. It's for that reason I think It's clever, it's simple, and it'll work it's magic on the masses.
I don't know exact reasoning behind PlatinumGames burgeoning relationship with Nintendo, but after having played this game one thing is certain in my eyes, Hideki Kamiya knows how to make a really fun game, one that will appeal to both kids and adults in droves!. If this game came out in time for Christmas, Nintendo would have a HUGE hit with the Wii U, I can say that with some degree of certainty, because it's the kind of experience all parents want for their kids, and the kind of experience they secretly want for themselves. If I had to sum it all up in one word, a VJ sounding "Yummy!", would sum it up pretty damn well.*****
After my time with the game, I couldn't help but say to the Nintendo rep: "you guys are going to make a killing with this...."

I guess it needs to be played to understand? Becuase with every trailer I think "How can this be any good?"

Because of that, I'm really worried it won't sell at all or that it'll be completely passed over by the gaming community in general.
Aliens: Colonial Marines - Impressions (PC)
I've had some significant hands-on time with the PC versions MP, here are my overall impressions of the experience, which follow on from my time with the 360 versions MP a couple of months back.
Sega were only showing TDM, sadly nothing of the new Escape mode which the company announced in late August. It would have been awesome to have played that mode given it's natural feeling premise, but sadly it wasn't to be, Instead, I think numerous games of TDM gave me ample insight into how the game plays overall, how the character types perform. Anyway, onto nitty gritty.
It should be no surprise to anyone that the PC version looks significantly better than anything we've seen of the 360 version so far, the games custom deferred lighting engine, the one Gearbox has kept mentioning all throughout the games development, shines overtly on PC. After playing this PC version, I can finally see why Gearbox were so excited about it, but only now, never beforehand. The Sega rep told me the PC build being shown was running at just below the maximum settings, and that the final product on PC should look even better. I asked if any of the console versions looked as good as this one does running at the current setting, in his opinion, he replied by saying: "maybe one", before saying he could say absolutely no more. After some pushing, I eventually got him to admit a build of the game showcasing numerous controller uses was at Sega's offices currently, but he said the company would not be ready to talk about the Wii U version until after the console launches.
The games controls on PC are very simple and effective, pretty much what most PC gamers will expect for both humans and xenos. A press of (Q) as a human pulls up your Motion Tracker, the famous device we've all seen in the films. The Sega rep advised me to treat the device as I would one of my weapons, but one I'm required to use routinely, without fail. It was very good advice, there's absolutely no room to let your guard down in this game, when you get killed it's often because of your own stupidity, that little bit of cockiness that draws you away from your group. If you attempt to be the ultimate baddass, you'll get face fucked fast xeno style. It's not a wise to go gung-ho unless you've got some sort of clear tactical advantage, be it a weapon or an aspect of the enviroment to utilise. On the flip-side, there's also over-caution that gets you killed, one example of this is when I pulled out my Motion Tracker while one of my team mates already had his out - a good waste of a gun, two players prone instead of one, Xeno players seize on fleeting opportunities like this, because they have to.
I noticed how Xenos players watch your every move attentively while keeping their distance, just staying at the fringes of what you can see. Make no mistake, you're constantly being stalked as a human, and Xenos are constantly making assessements about your awareness of their location. I played as a Xeno twice and it felt like a completely different game, but certainly not bad one, I was entralled by our group tactics. The tactics in this game are genuinely intriguing, the intensity and atmosphere they create is one of the best aspects of Aliens: Colonial Marines.
As far as weaponry is concerned, the weapons in the game look and feel great, and they sound fucking incredible, exactly like they do in the films (I just remembered I was told good things about the Sentry guns and a certain controller). There's a really good level of authenticity all over this game from what I can see.
This game is coming along very nicely, considering it has a February 2013 release date.
Prize Get: Bandana & T-shirt for beating Sega's reps.

Sega are hiring playtesters currently, details can be found on their site.

Fair do's. I asked him if Nintendo approached PG to do Bayo 2, but told me to ask Inaba. As if I'm getting an answer from him XD
Also, Kamiya tweets a LOT.
I know, but he's a guilty pleasure...
"I'm gonna buy a Wii U just to play Bayonetta 2. I like Nintendo first party content, but I love Bayonetta"
Can we not double post so much please? Sankyu. It's not too bad if the thread is dead but otherwise please edit your previous post instead.
You should be used to this by now LS
..Also casually follows Kamiya's Twitter. (I also follow Kojima who is extremely entertaining fyi)
I'm glad it sounds like Kamiya has genuine interest in the WiiU and the Platinum games being produced for it, as opposed to sounding like he's being forced into the position due to money or w/e.
Customizable Menu Screen for Wii U
Ubisoft yesterday released a PR statement for Just Dance 4, as part of their statement they appear to have revealed something which Nintendo has yet to...• A new title screen on Wii U (10 units) / A new X360 theme on Xbox360 (10 units) / A new wallpaper on PS3 (10 units)• The Mash-up version of "Good feeling" (20 units)• The Mash-up version of "Beauty and a beat" (30 units)• The alternate version of "Call me maybe" (40 units)The fact it's bunched up with a 360 theme and PS wallpaper, suggests "title screen" is Wii U's equivalent, rather than simply a new in-game title screen.. Anyway, it's amazing to think we still know next to nothing about how Wii U will look at the front-end. If this is true, I expect to see title screens for all Nintendo's favourite franchises. Hopefully some of them will be available on the Wii U eShop at launch. I'm done with the sterile white, I think it was never befitting for a colourful company like Nintendo.source:http://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/178671/Lights_off_party_on_JUST_DANCE_4_now_available_in_THEUK.php
