I'm not buying Wii U until I can play VC games on the GamePad.
They've said that they're looking at making the future Wii U VC service playable on the GamePad, but whether that means they would re-release Wii VC games and you'd need to pay for them again, I don't know. Hopefully there is a way so that users who already bought, say Mario 3 on the Wii VC, can just download it off the Wii U VC in the future, playable on the GamePad. It's a right old state of affairs, though. Not making the Wii and 3DS VCs a unified account system was a mistake. If they do it again for Wii U it would be terrible. Hopefully they can sort some alternative out.
Can anyone suggest how I might go about routing 5.1 surround to my amp, when the amp has no HDMI input?
No issues for the TV, it has HDMI, however it doesn't output 5.1 from sources, only from it's own TV tuner. I think I may be stuck? I have seen some HDMI audio extractors for £50 or so, but I wonder if they'd introduce any delay to the image resulting in increased 'lag'?
It's started already...
So did you read that the 8GB model will only have 3GB of space left for downloads? Now I'm really glad I went for the black version.
Not that it matters too much... I have a 2TB USB HDD.
For anyone interested in previously never released background information about the origins of the Wii, this article is a really good read. Honestly, I'd recommend reading it to anyone interested in the gaming industry!
Just to be sure: the Wii LAN USB adapter is compatible with Wii U, right??? I'd hate to go WLAN on the Wii U, as I will be streaming a lot of Youtube etc. with it.
So I see I can pick up a Wii adapter for €10, but I need to be sure it can (should) be used with Wii U. Thanks!
Mass Effect 3 Wii U Technical Issues
1UP:
"Without question, it has a few issues. This version of ME3 seems a lot less visually stable than, say, the Xbox 360 version — the frame rate is choppier, the animation seems rougher. The audio suffers, too; while the music and sound effects have come over fine, all the dialogue has a hollow, echoing quality to it."
There's also this..
Dragon Swords Momiji <3
I read that about ME3 last night... Well the little interest I had in getting this game for the Wii U, whenever it is that I will be able to afford the system, has vanished instantly. Way to go EA!
Mighty Switch Force HD looks great. I just wish it was a new game instead of a HD port as I'm not interested in buying the same game again.
The Regginator Checks Out Wii U Queue
Apparently Nintendo are removing Mii Universe comments for 'violence' even with things as tame as "kicked in the head"?
http://www.destructoid.com/how-moderated-is-miiverse-it-s-a-damn-police-state--238871.phtml
If you say something as tame as "haha punch" it'll probably get moderated, simply ridiculous.
Well, what was the other option? Waiting an hour before your comment is posted, while thousands of paid Koreans are moderating everything?
I wonder if it will filter 'original' language use, like k!ck his a$$.
To be fair, most of what Jim Sterling says does need deleting.
Good to see really, I'd rather see the moderation more harsh than too lenient. An unmarked spoiler popping up for a game I'm playing would piss me off to no end.

Yup, but what if someone forgets to use it? Hense, moderator.
Isn't there an option to just hide all in-game Miiverse comments? Or ban people's comments?
How does it work anyway, do only posts of friends show up? Or everyone's? If it's just friends, I wouldn't mind if there was no moderation at all. (Or just when you report stuff.) Facebook doesn't have moderation all the time, but I just make sure I don't have friends who say offensive stuff.
Not sure on the specifics. but I'm quite certain that Miiverse comments between friends are instant and don't get checked, it's only those that are selected to appear worldwide that have a delay to be looked at.
Well, I don't see a problem then. I trust my friends and their comments... and if they disappoint me, I'll just block their messages (assuming that's possible).
I was watching some guy stream Zombi U a little while ago, it was so funny. He must've died about 4 times, in such a short amount of time. He says he's really enjoying the game though and that he's extremely happy with his purchase. He also streamed some Miiverse, eShop and a few other things.
I can't wait to get my hands on a Wii U. This next week and a bit, waiting for the EU release is gonna be so so painful.

Yeah same feelings here. I wish I had the Wii U right here right now. I'm just looking at videos, reading reviews and counting the days.
I haven't even touched a U yet! I'm entering stores every few days to see if they have a demo model yet, but no luck so far.
Oh I have to deal with the terrible Youtube functionality on my Smart TV... The U's browser will be so much better!
Today I tried the Trine 2 demo to see if I'd enjoy the game. It was better than I expected, so I might buy that sooner or later.

Soooo... people managing to get into restricted areas of Miiverse. An interesting shot of some 'games' that someone's taken:
Was reading the thread on Neogaf a few minutes ago. This is scary ! How they left such functionality lying within the retail versions of Wii is totally insane. Or perhaps they realized that after manufacturing the units, and recommended that people update their system right away so that it'd fix this (and perhaps the dude didn't update his?), hoping no one would stumble upon that??
No matter how you look at it, this is nuts.
