PS3/Vita General Topic

I think it's in everyone's best interests if we bring down the rhetoric a bit. If debate can't happen without resorting to petty insults, the people responsible will end up in some trouble.

Fair enough, but it's still a rumour. Forbes has also been wrong in the past. As I've said a few times now, nobody really knows - we'll see in time. It wouldn't surprise me if they dropped the Cell architecture, but it also wouldn't surprise me if they moved forward with a more advanced version. As you say yourself, devs are getting used to the architecture.

It's not that we don't like hearing it. We know this. It's been common-knowledge to anyone genuinely interested in videogames since 2006. I can't believe you think this is news to us.

Nope. Developers go where the money is, first and foremost. When looking for deals etc, developers will always go with the highest-bidder. Seems MS wanted Epic onside more than Sony did. You have to remember, Sony have a battery of fairly loyal Japanese developers, at the time of the 360's launch, MS had only done one console.

They set about buttering up certain devs so that they could have their own pool of contracted talent they could depend on. In fact, Epic were basically involved in the production of the 360 in a weird way. The original Gears of War is the reason why the 360 has 512MB of RAM, and not 256. Epic showed MS how good the game could look if they doubled the RAM, and MS went with it.

Without Epic, the 360 would quite literally not be what it is. MS were going to run with 256MB of RAM. All these platform comparisons would have very different outcomes had that been the case. It very nearly was, too.

My what WONDERFUL FAITH you have in me Martin , but seriously you all know where I stand on gameplay over graphics so don't be suprised if I see you guys showing more focus on the shallowest element of a game. But yeah posting a bottle of Vicodin would've been priceless haha!!

Slight rumour going around that Skies of Arcadia and a certain game called Shenmue will be on PSN/XBLA very soon. I know I'd buy the everloving hell out of both.

I'd snap Shenmue up straight away.

One, because it's just convenient having it on PS3 (its always set up) and two, because it's one of the best games of all-time.

This better turn out to be true! I don't think I can take any more Shenmue heartbrake.

Damn, if that's true then that would be the perfect opportunity for me to play those two games I hear everyone going on about.

Think of it this way...Shenmue was one of the Original Uncharted style games. By that I mean what Uncharted does for AAA Action films Shenmue did for Kung Fu films. I really liked the branching moves you were given during Q.T.E. fights!! And HOLY COW THE COLLECTABLE OCD STUFF!!!!!!

Who else won Super Sonic from Tomato Convenience Store? And the SEGA Saturn games? It actually feels real now.. Shenmue HD is coming. I hope they take this opportunity to finish the saga once and for all.

I never got one of those BUT I did win a statue of Ryo in his Forklift car from SEGA All Star Racing contest that SEGA did on Facebook.

Even though I'm sure I could get a couple hundred for it I'm NEVER selling that piece of Shenmue art!!

Lol I intend to, even though I'm not a Pharaoh I plan on being buried like one with certain key items I love enough to take with me to eternity!

For a series well-known for staying in Japan, it's brilliant news the PS3 is getting Graces f and Xillia here. Whether Xillia will make 2012 or not, I don't know, but hopefully it'll come for Christmas and we can get these awesome DLC cozzies. The game has a shit ton of DLC outfits, but hopefully they'll be nice and put a lot of them in the game for free (yeah, right).

Xillia has a bunch of cool little things that just seem to really benefit the player. A quick save slot like many portable RPGs have, press R3 on world map to instantly go to previously visited areas, events list to keep track of main and sub events (handy if you stop playing for a month or two). Sounds like the perfect RPG for me right now.

Thanks a lot Az, now I'm even more hyped for it than I already was. Those little cool things actually sound a lot like what Xenoblade offers as well. In it, you can save anywhere, teleport to previously visited areas instantly and you have a main quest/sidequest list to keep track of everything, all things that I'd really like to see a lot more often in JRPGs. Hopefully a trend that will continue in the future.

LittleBigPlanet Karting trailer
This looks bloody good. Not the sort of thing I'd pick up unless it turns out good in the end and comes down cheap, but it looks like Mario Kart could learn a lot from this. Customising karts will be in, and most likely custom tracks, too - this is something that needs to be in the next MK. Hopefully after LBPK comes out, Nintendo can have a look at it.

I use Photobucket myself, but only because I have an account I have used for years. Imageshack lets you upload without an account.

Silent Hill HD is out in America, and it's really not pretty

The left image is 'HD', the right is the PS2 original.

The fog added atmosphere and hid the technical limitations the developers came across.
