Ok, we have had plenty threads recomending bands- but none that pay attention to other peoples taste. So, tell us/me/whoever what bands you listen to, and the "community" (community being me at the moment) can give suggestions on what you could be listening to, don't worry if you haven't heard a band before.

I'll give who I'm listening to at the moment:
Porcupine Tree
Dream Theater
Symphony X
Godspeed you Black Emporer!
Explosions in the Sky

Please, join in; it could seriously broaden your listening.
EDIT: give feedback on any bands you choose to checkout

Can they be solo singers?

Iron Maiden
Led Zeppelin
David Bowie
Electric Light Orchestra
Rachel Stevens
Girls Aloud
Sugababes
Muse
The Vines
Santana
The Hives

That's about the extent of my current playlist Smilie

solo singers is fine. Smilie

Iron Maiden -> Dream Theater, Symphony X, Liquid Tension Experiment
Led Zeppelin -> Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Hendrix, Joe Satriani
David Bowie -> Jeff Buckley, possibly. Quite a difficult one.
Muse -> Radiohead, Biffy Clyro, The Cooper Temple Clause
The Hives -> Ramones?

(I haven't heard enough of your other music to make a good decision spy Smilie )

The Killers -> from what I've heard, they remind me a lot of Interpol, or Keane.
The Strokes -> Black rebel motorcycle club, Weezer

Damien Rice.
Amy Whinehouse.

try ani di franco

If thats to me the album is added to my list of things to buy if not then its still added to my list of things to buy.

Anyone for rock? well, not HEAVY rock, but... mmhmm

Trapt is the band i'm listening to at the moment
Few of their songs -
-> Made of glass
-> Headstrong
-> Enigma
-> Hollowman

*shrugs*

Also i don't really go for pop music that much, but--

Sugababes -> caught in a moment
JoJo -> Get out

They seem quite cooleh....

I wouldn't worry about it. I try and make a concious effort to listen to at least 3 new bands a week. My musical tastes are getting very obscure and underground.

Geepo and Tr!5t@n should try out: Deftones, Trust company (give the song "hover" a go) and At the drive-In. Hopefully you'll find something in those 3 you like. Smilie

Sugababes -> caught in a moment

Wooh, a Sugababes fan are we? Lovely Smilie

I love that song too, listened to it loads when I bought the album so very long ago Smilie

erm could you give me some bands?

Kid Rock
Meatloaf
Elton John
Rod Stewart
Iron Maiden
Ozzy
Smash Mouth
Jim Steinman

thats what im listning to at the moment

MUSE and Maroon 5

Hello!

If you can find anything that matches with these bands I'll be suprised - and happy.

>> The Mad Capsule Markets
>> Hide
>> Glay
>> Motorhead
>> Pink Floyd
>> Led Zeppelin
>> The Cult
>> The Cure
>> The Pixies

and I've been listening to the Stone Roses recently. How's that for a random taste in music.

I like Heavy Metal but not most of the newer stuff. I keep getting recommended Dream Thatre but I can't get away with it *apologises*.

Iron Maiden, as I posted above Smilie

Rod Stewart -> only one I can really think of is Morrissey
Meatloaf -> Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbeth

collectivly, you might like "Eagles", the animals or Bruce Springstein too.

I always feel like such a musical idiot with music posts because of my 'strange' taste...:

Blink 182
Good Charlotte
Sum 41
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Anyone got their Live In Hyde Park Album yet?)
Nickelback
and a load of random songs, some soft and some heavy.

The only person to have a music taste even sort of like mine is Tr!5t@n...

Jay

The Mad Capsule Markets -> The Cooper Temple Clause, Vex Red
Pink Floyd -> Porcupine Tree. You MUST try them. Stars Die, or "Voyage 34 - phase one" could be a great start.
Led Zeppelin -> think I did them above
The Pixies -> can't think of anything else in my music collection that really is similar to them...

I like your taste, dude. Smilie

RHCP -> A perfect Circle(possibly), Tool, Smashing Pumpkins

sorry, rob F, but i don't listen to your other bands actively.. Smilie

i heard a song i guess from my friend called "kill ur mama rape ur dog" but im not sure who its by...Karn do u know

Hello!

If anyone's looking for alternative Goth Rock that isn't mainstream I recommend checking out Anthema. The are quite a bit older than most groups and show you don't need to thrash or scream down a microphone to make good music.
