The Sims 4: Cottage Living is an expansion to The Sims 4. The Sims is a long-running series of simulation games that began in the year 2000, in which players can create characters and guide them through daily life. This expansion, published by Electronic Arts, was released back in 2021, but how does it still hold up?
The Sims 4: Cottage Living adds some really beautiful details alongside new skills and opportunities for Sims. To start, there are new outfits available that grant that certain farm feel. Additionally, extra furniture and even set rooms can be found squirreled away in the menus. These are very lovingly designed and fit the topic very well, adding a country-flair to the game. The new neighbourhood seems to be inspired by the English countryside, and adds a few new faces to the world.
Of course, one of the main features is the animals. Sims can now raise cows and chickens, allowing players to obtain fresh milk and eggs. There are also llamas, wild rabbits and foxes that can be befriended.
Naturally, this pack wouldn't be complete without a new aspiration: Country Caretaker. Sims with this aspiration want to take care of plants and crops and become friendly with the animals around them. A new skill that can be acquired is cross-stitching, alongside a variety of extra activities for the Sims, such as running errands, crafting with wool, or canning foods.
With all these additional activities and opportunities, playing The Sims 4 can become a little bit daunting. After all, tending to all the crops and animals, without forgetting anything, can be quite hard work. However, this pack makes the base game a whole lot more enjoyable to play, as it offers a little bit more variety, not least through the opportunities to obtain animals.
The Sims 4: Cottage Living adds a variety of new and exciting opportunities to the base game. The new style is themed very well and fits the country aesthetic. The overall number of added features can be overwhelming at times, but this pack comes highly recommended to anyone wishing for a bit more action in the lives of their Sims.
