Nintendo Wii Media | Smash Update: Pikmin & Olimar Join the Brawl!

In an exciting update on the Smash Bros. Dojo today, Captain Olimar and his trusty Pikmin join the battle!

Goodness! Captain Olimar joins the fray with five colors of Pikmin in tow! He plucks Pikmin from the ground and they fight as his allies.

Without Pikmin, Olimar can't even do a Smash Attack. And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.

Choosing Pikmin music is a rather difficult thing to do. In trying to find a song that would be remembered by those who played the game...

I thought about areas that everyone would visit when starting and ending play, and thus chose this song.

Its arrangement came together in a smooth and lovely way. It conveys the remarkable Pikmin world. It's nice.

It won't be, it'd out soon in Japan and is too near to release. It'll prolly go Gold soon.

Only wish I could say the same for the EU/AUS games.

I wonder what his final smash will be? I am thinking something that has to do with his ship or one of the enemies from Pikmin. Speaking of that, I wonder if we will have some assist trophies from Pikmin?

I would go with the original Dolphin ship too or maybe at a push, it might be raining Poco's Smilie

It's a strong possibility. It will come down to who I like best out of Olimar, Link and Pit, and even then I reckon there could be characters that I grow to like even though right now I cannot contemplate using them. I imagine that will be the case with many peeps.

I would love Olimar to be a great character, one I could use often, but right now I cannot say one way or the other. It would be a stupid to make such decisions without testing all the characters I love to see what suits me best.

I just hope all the characters I do like are all great in their own distinct way. Capt Olimar sounds very interesting, this symbiotic nature is a interesting quirk to Brawl. To me it sounds like Kill the Pikmin kill the Capt, to which case protecting them is vital. It's cool and funny, I think most Pikmin fans are very protective of their Pikmin, I know I am Smilie .

Best update so far as far as I am concerned, I was confident it would happen and it's great to see it become a reality. Now all I need is Megaman or VJ in there.

Well I can honestly say that enough experience with any SSBM character can make me good with them... I mean I'm better with some than with others, but all it will take is practise.

I'd love to be able to say that no character is better or worse than any other. Perhaps with the more refined Brawl, this could be more true than it was in Melee.

on the site it says that if he loses his pickmin, he cant attack... THAT SUCKS.. (not the character, the not being able to attack at some points)

Well I'm assuming it means some of his special/smash attacks will be entirely Pikmin based. I'm certain that without Pikmin he can still do basic combos and some attacks, and that some attacks will become more powerful the more Pikmin he has.

You'll have to use strategy and watch yourself at the same time... just like in Pikmin!

actually it seems that all his moves (except one) will have to use pikmin. I will try him, but i will mostly likley avoid him, as he seems too vulnerable with the current givin info.

I don't mind as long as it does not take too long for you to sprout new ones.

@ SL, If you are right then this game will be a master stroke. When you have a fighting game with this many characters and you can say that all of them are potentially excellent when mastered that is something very special. It's down solely to fantastic balancing.
