I've been holding off on getting into Dragon Quest for a long time but now I think I'll be tracking down the DS remakes with both of these coming out next year! Not sure I fancy playing the first three, though...

3 was great, but best to play the Super Famicom remake, fan translated, rather than play the NES Dragon Warrior III. The first two haven't aged well at all, so they're not essential to be played. It was really the third game that established the series for what it is and broke new ground for the JRPG genre in general.

Given the massive delay, it makes you wonder if the Wii U version of DQX still has a chance, especially considering it was kind of confirmed at a French show a long while back.

or maybe the 3DS version of draque X? You know? The one that doesn't actually run on the system but is being streamed to it ?

Possibly...perhaps that be a bit tougher because of the servers involved. Not sure how it works, but perhaps it might be more of a costly venture?
