Next Legend of Zelda Still Coming to Wii U on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

With the next major Legend of Zelda game missing from E3, fans have wondered whether it's still in development for Wii U.

Nintendo have been quiet when it comes to future plans and games like The Legend of Zelda (working title). Could the game skip Wii U and be passed onto the next Nintendo system?

The answer, for the moment, is that "Zelda is still coming to Wii U," according to series creator Shigeru Miyamoto. "So don't worry about that." Miyamoto went onto tease "really great Zelda footage," and that'll will be shown off at some point - "but not today."

For Nintendo this year in particular, the near term games (2015 and early 2016) are the stars of the E3 show.

Do you think the next Zelda game will be on both NX and Wii U?

I would not judge out the possibility of that happening. It would, indeed, be a sad thing and I think Nintendo should have a Zelda game for the current gen console. But we have to keep in mind that a Zelda game takes a long long time to create. We are not talking about an indie game here or even a recycled AAA gamefranchise like CoD, Assassin's Creed or Pokémon which needs little more than reskinning mixed with new content but not much more as the core is still the same. If that was the case we would likely get something like Majora's Mask, but with Skyward Sword style.

Nothing bad about MM, but almost all material in that game was recycled, even the sign in the graveyard was completely ripped off despite saying something entirely else. And I think fans expect more of this title and it certainly looks like it will be more. It will take time. It is not just a simple redesign of an existing game.

Five years since TLoZ: SS I give it, then I start to get impatient. So next year Chirstmas by latest I want ths game on the shelves. The sooner the better. But for it to be pushed for 2017 to be released on NX as well is no impossibility.

In the meanwhile I will entertain myself with Xenoblade Chronicles X. Which looks to be one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. And that is all I need from Nintendo, or any publisher for the matter, to stay happy for well over a year.

The difference between illusion and reality is vague to the one who suffers from the former and questionable for the one suffering form the later.
