ROM Hack Super Metroid Redesign Updated on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A large update has been released for Drewseph's ROM hack of the Super NES classic Super Metroid.

Originally released in 2007, Super Metroid Redesign expanded on the original game in a number of ways, with new power-ups, new areas and new enemies. Unfortunately, it was mighty difficult, with a number of issues.

Drewseph has been hard at work on delivering a massive update for the game in the past nine years, and that fan hack has finally been released under the guise of Super Metroid Redesign: Axeil Edition. The game will require a SNES emulator and a ROM of the original game, whilst the actual patch itself is available at Drewseph's website here.

I did quit the first time around, trying to play it. As I was sorting my roms, and preparing the terrain for turning an old machine I have at home into a Hyperspin emulation machine, I decided I'd include this newer patch, cause I really did find the 2.1 version of the original patch much too hard to my liking. I dig the new shiny title logo and the name of the areas being displayed on arrival this time around Smilie.
