Alph of Pikmin 3 Fame Joins the Arena in Super Smash Bros.

In today's Super Smash Bros. pic of the day, Sakurai has revealed that Alph, one of the explorers from Pikmin 3, is a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

He has mainly the same skill set as Olimar, according to Sakurai, although he cannot use Rock Pikmin. Further proving that Olimar and Alph are different characters, he also notes the pair's separate titles on the character select screen. "See? It says Alph," the director remarks. However, rather than a single selectable character, it could be that he is simply a costume variation of Olimar, whose name changes if the Alph alt is chosen.
