Nintendo's definition of open world in the new Legend of Zelda game may well be different to what gamers may expect.
Series producer Eiji Aonuma was interviewed by EDGE Magazine this month, and the hot topic of an "open world" approach for the new Wii U installment was discussed. The studio and Aonuma have kept quiet on the project since its debut at E3 in June, with only a handful of details shared since.
Aonuma teased that "since we're talking about open worlds, let's state upfront that we don't plan to have an open world in the same way other companies have been doing in recent years."
What is certain, however, is that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will take on a less linear approach to its predecessors.
