Watch Mewtwo Transform into his New Form in Pokémon X and Y on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Is he or isn't he? The mysterious Mewtwo-like Pokémon has been confirmed as a Mewtwo transformation in a new trailer.

Earlier this month The Pokémon Company teased a new creature for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y that bared similar characteristics to generation one legendary, MewTwo. Now the connection has been confirmed as a transformation of the master of all things psychic, but no name has been given for the new form, however.

Is it me or does he actually look weaker in his new form?

You're not alone there, the design of the current Pokemon are looking more & more generic & less relatable to real world animals.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

He looks closer to Mew, which was the intended outcome of the experiment. Mew looks far weaker than Mewtwo, but canonically it's stronger and has god-like powers, I don't think appearances apply to Pokémon at all.

Oh boy here we go, first we have people complaining that "too many new Pokémon are just lazy copies of animals without any thought put into them" and then we have people who think "they look nothing like real animals anymore". The total lack of any consistent criticism is very telling, people just pick things out of thin air and apply them to one Pokémon they don't like.

Any argument can be applied to any gen, maybe, just maybe, the Pokémon have the same kind of variation they've always had and there are plenty of kids out there who grew up with Gen3 or 4 Pokémon who think the Gen1 Pokémon are far worse and less imaginative by comparison? Just a thought (because it's true).

Honestly, I think all Gens have their ups and downs, but they're all ultimately good as far as ideas and designs go.

PS. The original Mewtwo looked nothing like a cat either. It looked like something from DBZ. I'm not complaining since I love Mewtwo, but srsly, it's not exactly a modicum of original imaginative design based on a real animal.

Hear, hear! Surely Pokemon that look more 'generic' would actually look more like regular animals? They could have given Mewtwo a new form years ago but I'm glad they waited until now; it could potentially create a very interesting storyline that fits in with the apparent DNA theme and make plenty of references that harken back to the original series.

I'm not a fan of these alternative forms. it just seems kind of lazy, it would've made more sense if it was another attempt to clone mew hence mewthree. but this alternative form or any kind of relation to mew should have been done generations ago, just further proof that pokemon has no idea what it is doing.

It's being introduced now due to a DNA game mechanic that's most likely being expanded upon in this Gen.

For once, Pokémon knows exactly what it's doing.
