During its fourth quarter 2012 results today, Activision Blizzard announced a brand new Skylanders game that will arrive in Fall 2013. Skylanders Swap Force features 16 interchangeable two-part figurines, allowing players to combine their toys to create all manner of unique creations, with 256 combinations, and delivering a variety of possibilities in the games.
The new light-up Portal of Power is required to play Skylanders Swap Force, and comes bundled in the package which also contains the game itself, two Swap Force figurines, a regular Skylander and stickers and a poster. 16 normal Skylanders will be joining the gang, plus 16 more new versions of previous fan-favourites that come with new Wow Pow upgrades. Eight new LightCore characters will be released before the end of the year.
Vicarious Visions is handling the Wii U, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version, which is running on a completely new HD engine, whilst Beenox, known for its recent Spider-Man games, will be taking on the Wii edition. n-Space will be developing the Nintendo 3DS version, which was also responsible for the handheld's iteration of Skylanders: Giants. The developers of the previous console games in the series, Toys for Bob, is still involved with Skylanders Swap Force, but is working on other things.
