Shantae Confirmed for New 3DS eShop Adventure

The penutltimate edition of Nintendo Power magazine has confirmed a new entry in WayForward's popular Shantae series.

The forthcoming game is heading to the 3DS, but will be exclusive to the eShop. Known as Shantae and The Pirate's Curse, the game will follow on from Risky's Revenge and will see the once-genie Shantae having to team up with Risky this time round. Why? To stop Risky's devious minions, which now have Shantae's magic, from reviving the diabolical Pirate Master.

Regain a now human Shantae by beating 30 evil tinkerbats, using classic platforming an array of tools including a gun, swords and grappling hook. All these bits will be upgradable throughout the journey too.

The report suggests a lengthy campaign that blends both existing fan-favourite locations and characters with new pirate areas to wander around - including hidden paths and a greater emphasis on exploration and back-tracking.

Shantae and The Pirate's Curse is due out in 2013, exclusively on the 3DS eShop.
