Ace Attorney Investigations 2 Fan Translation - First Footage on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Capcom have no plans to release Ace Attorney Investigations 2 in the West yet, but it hasn't stopped dedicated fans from translating.

The Ace Attorney spin-off staring popular prosecutor Miles Edgeworth is currently the only released title in the series that hasn't received the localisation treatment, despite favourable reviews.

Known in Japan as Gyakuten Kenji 2, the game once again focuses on the thorough Edgeworth, the bumbling Dick Gumshoe and new recruit, teenage theif Kay Faraday.

A group of coders have, despite technical difficulties translating between Japanese and English images and script, started work on a patch. Earlier this week a snippet of footage was released to demonstrate the English language work in action. The first case in the game is said to be on track for release before Christmas.

Sven at Capcom made some comment about how if people buy Ace Attorney 5, Capcom may localise AAI2. How ridiculous does that sound? Buy our new 3DS game and MAYBE we'll bring over an old DS game... Smilie

can't they just release it on the eshop

That's a very intriguing point, and something I've wanted to ask a few publishers. It would be a logical way to get some extra cash and keep gamers happy at the same time!

Yeah considering GBA and 3DS are both downloadable on eShop.. would make sense to digitally distribute some DS titles too. Maybe they'd have resolutions better matched to the 3DS too.

Too true actually - I wonder what proportion of costs the localisation comes into play in the whole retail package though. Still, this would be the ideal candidate to try on the eShop.

I would pay these coders an arm and leg (read: $35) for this game. This is amazing.
