A solo developer recently took on a challenge to create a Flash game in 48 hours. The result? A condensed Super Mario Bros.
Getting the classic Mario look and physics just right is a tricky feat on any development platform, especially in Flash and under a strict project time. That didn't stop Sweedish chap Johan Peitz from crafting a comprehensive version of the Nintendo platformer into single screens - a snapshot of all the different environments of the game as standalone puzzles.
A Super Mario Summary is my entry to the 23rd Ludum Dare 48 hour game development challenge. I tried to recreate every level in the original Super Mario Brothers game, but on a single screen each. The result is a puzzle platformer where you need to combine reflexes, timing, and clever thinking to succeed.
