Zelda Wii to be Showcased Next Month? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A recent rumour suggests that Nintendo are readying footage for their anticipated Wii entry into the Legend of Zelda Franchise.

According to Infendo, an insider claims that the trailer, that will shed light on the teaser image of a Swordless Link from last E3, will be showcased at Nintendo's Business Media Summit early next month.

Whilst it would be easy to take this rumour with a grain of salt, it is worth bearing in mind that the October conferences of the past two years have shown major announcements, including Sonic's presence in Smash Brothers, Sin and Punishment 2, and the introduction of the third in the DS line.

I'd say the chance of Nintendo's October conference is pretty high as usual, and they'll probably make a fair few great announcements there.

Last year's was better than E3!

As they have all been, although this years Expo wasn't too bad. Personally, I'm just hoping to see more of Golden Sun DS next month. Smilie

Yeah I keep having horrific visions of it (Golden Sun) being another "Project HAMMER" type affair where they just drop it after hype has built for other games Smilie

Funnily enough, it\'s been suggested lately that Project Hammer is still going. Hold up, I\'ll have a snoop around...

Edit; Ah, here we go; Wii Crush anyone?

In soviet Russia, Wii move YOU!

TGS! coming up

Finally!!! I can't believe how long this took. Previous Zelda games were shown way sooner...

Id rather they not show it at all till 6 months before release.

I have a feeling that it'll have the same type of graphics that Twilight Princess had. As long as the premise and gameplay is good, that's all that matters.

Also, if they are showing the trailer, I'm guessing that the game will be set for release in Q4 2010.

Finally, Ive been waiting for Nintendo to show something of the new Zelda. 3 nearly 4 years in the works, does Nintendo have a huge surprise for us in store? Smilie

Will it still have a tiny game world with generic dungeons and bosses and compasses and maps and small keys? Will Ganon be back? Will Princess Zelda be kidnapped once more? Yawn.

O_o
Tiny? Twlight Princess was frigging HUGE.
Probably one of the biggest most detailed game worlds of all time. Top 5 easily.

You better not be comparing it to RPGs though, where they have massive game worlds which are tile based, or 99% empty of unique content. You might as well compare it to Elite, or Spore.

Zelda, like Metroid, has every part individually modeled. Every item and dungeon unique code too.
It never strays into the world of \"same again with tougher enemy\'s but now your stats are higher\"

Argue about improves to the plot, sure.
I\'m also hugely in favour of dumping the dungoen structure.

But in terms of what you do, Zeldas still the most diverse gameplay on the planet.
(You Ride, You Fly, You Swim,You Grind, You Bite, You even frelling snowboard. One moment your moving bouncing statues about, the next your upside down hockshotting something, or biteing the heard out of ghosts, or fishing, or rolling marbles about or.....)

Zelda is huge.
Both in gameplay and world.
It just needs a remix.
Making the gameworld bigger would only mean less content per area.

I wouldn't mind if it looked like an improved twilight princess, graphics and stuff but I really hope they add some new gameplay elements not where you get turned into a wolf >.>

I think Nintendo would do wise to take a page from Bethesda's book and create multiple (and i DO mean multiple) mini dungeons that, once completed, yield something great but not too game-changing (a piece of heart perhaps, a new ability, an upgrade to a weapon already in your arsenal, dare I say- an upgrade or "add-on" to the standard green tunic).

In order to truly make Zelda boss battles feel epic, however, Nintendo should seriously do away with the obvious glowing-ball-that's-also-a-weak spot on every boss. They need to go hardmode on this one, and make boss's tougher (i.e. no glowing weak spot, more hit points, less obvious pattern-or maybe a not-so easy pattern).

They really need to have boss battles that actually challenge the player, to give them that satisfaction that comes after an epic victory. Just my two cents Smilie

I don't post much, but I will appreciate any feedback on the posts I do make. Feel free to PM

Zelda needs a change. It feels too templated. Copy and paste from Ocarina. A game shouldnt stray too far from what made them great but when you feel de javu or I did this before It needs changing.

I agree with tru link. Boss battles are a bore and you never feel anything when you kill them. When you kill a boss in devil may cry you know you did something amazing. Zelda isnt devil may cry and it shouldnt be but it seems some elements of zelda other devs have advanced on.

A different aspect of the story? perhaps a war? different races? More intricate story telling? Grand orchestral music to fit the grand game?

I think people are just whining \'cause it\'s fun to whine. It\'s a console Zelda. It\'s gonna be amazing. TP\'s only flaw in my opinion was how useless some items were outside of the dungeon you obtain them. Even if the story and structure is the same in each game, that doesn\'t make all the games the same, or even repetitive, \'cause all the detail layered on top of that basic structure makes each game feel unique.

Anyway, Zelda games DON\'T always have the same structure and story. Hell, lots of them don\'t even have Ganon in. (Majora\'s Mask, Minish Cap, Four Swords, Phantom Hourglass, Link\'s Awakening).

Gameplay: agree. World: disagree.

How long did it take to travel around Hyrule? Maybe 10 minutes? Hyrule field was made to look bigger than it was, by splitting it up.

Let's name a few non-generic game worlds that are way bigger:
World of Warcraft (ok, I won't include other MMOGs because you'll probably think it's not fair)
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind (I could include all the expansions and sequels but I won't)
Shadow of the Colossus (I heard the environments are pretty much empty, but at least it feels huge)
FFX (seems to be pretty big)

There are also some shooters which feel pretty big (Crysis, Farcry 2...).

The point is... Zelda games really aren't as huge as you think they are. I personally would love to ride through big deserts, or find my way through big forests.
But they're just not there. In Gerudo destert you had to follow a certain path. In the forests there is always 1 path. Oh and most areas consist of multiple rooms. That sucks.

I can't wait to see what they came up with. I'm afraid I'll be disappointed though... Usually the same old thing, which is starting to get very boring now.

I'd just like the game world to feel less sparse, it still feels like the N64 title in that there's little to do and considering it's supposed to be a vibrant multicultural world that just feels odd.

Also please please mix up the gameplay. I am sick to the back teeth of the Zelda system. Best Zelda game ever is Majoras Mask and that was as far away from the usuals as possible.

Speaking of which, I'm going to start replaying MM this weekend. Smilie Looking forward to it! I'm also a bit intimidated by the forest temple and the part that leads to it. Not sure why.

The only things I really want to see in the new Zelda is a seamless world (and i mean with absolutely no loading times) and the quest system from Majora's Mask.
Why do you, people, seem to think that they should change Zelda's structure of the gameplay? I think Super Mario Galaxy proved that you can do a fresh and original game using a template (which perfectly works) from the mid 90s.
