Pikmin New Play Control Box Art on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The boxart for the "New Play Control" Wii port of the GameCube hit, Pikmin, has surfaced.

The game is a direct port of the original outing on Nintendo's purple box, but this time round incorporating full use of the Wii remote and nunchuck for those who were unable to play the game, or can't grab hold of a copy.

Do you think "New Play Control" is a suitable name for the GameCube to Wii ports? Should the box arts be more inspiring, or are they fine as they are?

me thinks the cover is wrong on the "More on Pikmin" section. Unless Harry is a distant relative of Olimar

Nintendo has shipped ~100,000 copies of Pikmin on Wii to retail in Japan this week and sold roughly 25,000 on the first day alone! That's already a better starting performance than DK: Jungle Beat. Nintendo's onto a winner with this range, methinks!

Was just about to say this myself! Pitfall's boxart for Pikmin? Hmm, mistake?

As for New Play Control Pikmin's box, it does it's job I guess.

Updated the box - there are some corrupt files from years ago when C3 had lots of server trouble.

I think this is definitely a good warm-up for Pikmin 3...helps to build up the audience on Wii since in Japan it's become VERY apparent that a lot of the 'core' gamers ditched Nintendo ages ago because of the GC dying off much earlier than in the rest of the world. It's high time Nintendo dragged some of them back.

What ever happened to the days where there actually was a box art. "Box arts" today look more like a magizine cover; there's a picture, but then there's a bunch of words telling you what will be inside.

Well they're making sure consumers know that it's a Game Cube game with Wii controls. If they didn't make that clear, some people that aren't familiar with the franchise might think it's a new game made for the Wii.

I'm pretty sure we'll be getting reversible covers as well, but then again I'm not sure if it's official.
