Hori Classic Controller Heads to Wii on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Leading Japanese peripheral maker Hori is at it again with a wireless classic controller for Wii.

Boasting more buttons and switches than one can count with both hands, the controller offers a slick alternative to buying an official controller or using a GameCube pad. The ABXY buttons do look a little odd however. Grey, blue and black colours will be available.

Preorders are available for its November 27th 2008 release date, with a price of around ($30, £20). Thanks to GoNintendo.

Hmm, not sure about the ABXY buttons either. They remind me of this old 3rd party N64 controller I have where the C buttons are the same size as the A and B buttons, and they have this horrible plastic clicking feel and sound to them.

I hope they aren't like that on the controller above. If they are made in the same way they are on the GameCube/SNES controller though, then they should be fine.

That is one butt ugly controller.

Does look comfortable though and the button/analogue stick placment makes more sense.

Would work well with Wii Games that are better played with a classic controller using the analog stick like Mario Kart and SSBB, but for VC Games, it sucks. They shouldn't have made such a small and misplaced D-Pad, which already sucked on the GameCube Pad. In fact it's just some kind of Wavebird rip off, with the GameCube games compatibility taken off.

I'll pass...
