Screens and gif of NSMBMii(assuming that's the title)

I heard before of either Super Mario Bros 4 or New Super Mario World.. looks kinda like Mario World to me and I'm certainly hoping for something like that!!
BABY YOSHI!?!?

Ugh, "flying squirrel." Still has more of a Mario Bros theme than Mario World to me. If it's a culmination of both, it could be the best in the NSMB series, though. They did register a supermario4 domain, but Mario World is SMB4. The fourth NSMB maybe?
I really love the look of the backgrounds and towering objects. The different levels of depth looks wonderful, as you can see the clouds moving on a different layer.
It deserves a copy/paste from GAF.
Oh yeah, on the part where people give hints on the Super Mario game, there's a gold bar pointing out that level was completed in under 100 seconds. Achievement system anyone?
Clearer picture in link on other post above.

..As much as I'd love an achievement system that's not prood enough.
It was amazing.
I'm really pleased with what Nintendo showed and I'm looking forward to hearing about it in more depth. I'm a bit concerned about grandpa calling me.
I have to say, NSMB actually looks good too! Well, the backgrounds at least. I love the huge stone structure in the background, it looks incredible. The hand-painted style looks really nice too!
Tuesday is worrying me. I'm scared I'm going to die of excitement, if that's even possible? When Pikmin 3 comes on, I think I'll cry and my head will explode.

Flying squirrel makes me think Raccoon Mario. So sick of of it now. If it's something like the cape I'll be much happier.
Yeah Marzy, it looks brilliant having a lot more to see in the background. Something about the giant pillar is amazing. Imagine having volcanoes, waterfalls and such stuff going on, too. Everything looks good, but I just don't know about Mario. I know it's hard to tell in the pic, but I just can't help but see him as a scruffy DS/Wii model. It's more apparent when he's small.
Like I mentioned in our franchises article, if they can bring in some good stuff from Mario World, I'll have a lot more interest. A less linear world map with paths and hidden exits and taking Yoshi to the next level are main ones for me. Jump in, jump out online play with friends/randoms (let us set the options) would be pretty good.

I hope the new controller can be used as a Wii remote+classic controller pro for regular Wii games personally, that'd be awesome.
Also, Non-Specific Action Figure kinda looks like captain rainbow, same kind of face.
All these functions can be accessed from the home menu from the look of things, while your gameplay is suspended. This, IMHO, seems to confirm the rumours that the OS might be quite beefy compared to everything we've seen so far on any home console.
But I'm still not sure how independent the Gamepad can be from the Wii U. Iwata DID say that it could do certain things independently from the console, but the way the phrases were said didn't make it clear.
EDIT: Oh yeah and... Miiverse coming to 3DS too ???? Can't wait !! This is sort of what I talked about in the last podcast, taking your Mii accross both systems, making your online identity accross both one and the same.

There was nothing but good stuff from that little press conference in my opinion. Maybe a bit cheesy, sure. Most are. But a lot of solid little tid-bits there. And the real stuff hasn't even started yet!
Overall, I really don't think there was anything here that should disappoint anyone. No megaton announcements, but that was to be expected. Those are rightly saved for the big show. Instead, we get little teasers that seem to affirm that Nintendo is taking the Wii U in the right direction.
Excited to see:
- Strong social network integration
I don't have much use for this personally, but it shows that Nintendo is being a bit forward thinking for once. If they truly pull off this level of integration with social networks, video communication, and mobile apps, etc; it really gives me hope that Nintendo is going to pull off a solid online system.
- Controller redesign and Pro pad
Making the controller better for longer gaming sessions and giving us a Pro pad clearly inspired by the 360 is at least Nintendo trying to show they care about the core audience. They rarely bothered with the Wii.
I also like that they showed the system in black. We all know that the color of a system is meaningless - but black is definitely associated more with the core audience than the plain white iBox style. Again, I think it shows that Nintendo is trying to make this system more acceptable to the core audience.
The only thing that concerns me is that making the system wider might make it harder to actually reach the touch screen during games.
- TV remote app
I like this because I think it indicates Nintendo is thinking about more than just the system itself. It'd be nice if they allowed it to controller multiple devices too -- TV, stereo, cable box, etc. I just wish the system came with a Blu-ray player. Controlling movies with the tablet would be good.
Iwata was watching the uStream as well and reading the comments:
I should have made more comments.

My reaction on Tuesday...
That guy was freakin awesome. Guess I'll have to tidy my living room up make some space when we all start video chatting! (Hopefully there can be more than 2 at a time on one video feed)
Just caught a replay of the Direct, and have to say I'm liking the Social aspects a lot. The Gamepad-as-TV-remote thing sounds like a natural extension of the Wii remote itself, though I'm guessing it'll depend on the TV makers allowing for the pad to interact directly with their products (can't see Sony TVs doing this).
I'm definitely glad to see Nintendo trying some new art styles with that clip of NSMBU, Mario looks the same but they seem to be keeping the timeless aspects of the design whilst changing what can be changed, like the backgrounds.
Laughed at first when I saw the Wii U Classic Pad, the design inspirations are clear as day, but can't deny that Nintendo are actively listening to the vast majority that consider the 360 layout as the best of this generation, and actually improving on it with their good D-Pad and (I'm assuming it'll be good) button-and-right-stick swapping. The fact that it was shown in black and that cheesy trailer predominantly featured black hardware gives me fresh hope that there will be more than one colour at launch.
Couple of things I noticed. Iwata give sufficient time to illustrate the final design of the GamePad, but not of the console housing itself, which means that might still change. And the fact he said the main E3 conference would almost completely feature Wii U games makes me wonder how they will showcase the next wave of 3DS titles; something they definitely need to put a strong showing on for as I doubt Sony will let the Vita's support go unnoticed in their conference.

Those abstract hills are from Super Mario World, this game can only be New SMW WiiU in my eyes.
I much prefer the original games SD pixel art, this HD art looks almost generic, exactly like NSB2 does. I don't like the look of SMW WiiU at all, from what I see, I think it looks cheap and quickly put together. That map screen looks like a mobile social game. I don't think SMW WiiU is going to go down well with older fans.
Nintendo seem to be churning this "new" stuff out with no innovation, social attachments and achievements aren't innovation. The "new" brand seems geared towards younger players more than everyone. I wasn't a fan of the DS game and it's very simplistic level design.
Ubisoft are pushing the genre in 2D, not Nintendo. Level design on par with 2D sections seen in Galaxy, have yet to be seen.

Hell... Even Mission Impossible on Game Boy Color had the functionality of turning your Game Boy Color in a universal TV remote XD.
Childish NSFW
I really hope this new game nothing to do with Super Mario World... The HUD looks exactly the same a New Super Mario Bros Mii thankfully.
I think Nintendo invest too much in the notion of nostalgia (or at least it would appear that way to me) - this is their very first HD console, and they decide to hype a 2D platformer which to me just looks exactly the same as the New Super Mario Bros Wii and the DS game. I just can't see anyone playing that at E3 and thinking "yes, this is a new era for Nintendo." To me that game says: same old bull, in high definition.
Something hand-drawn or a Yoshi's Island style could have looked incredible. I just think as it looks now, it's hard to be genuinely excited about it.
I think that's probably why they chose to show NSMW first, it doesn't really boast ROAR WIIU POWER because that's the kind of thing they want to save for the expo.
The games come on Tuesday.

Indeed, but in general I just don't see why anyone is that interested in it. Thus far I don't see much justification for it being on a console rather than a handheld. It feels like one of those games that is there just fill franchise space.
But when the real games come I hope for:
