I hated that too.

I liked it, it was pretty easy to run out, and although I admit it was a bit too much, it reminded me of the puzzle elements that recent "hold forward to win" Sonic games have severely lacked.
So I hope future Episodes have similar puzzles which are less of a pain to execute. I definitely think puzzles like that are a step in the right direction tho.
Yeah I don't mind puzzles but i felt that one with the 4 torches for the 4 platforms needed a little too much precision and kind of slows the pace down a bit because it's fairly easy to cock it up, everything else in the level with the torches was fine though.
Reminded me on sandopilos zone act 2 (which is one of my favorite levels) with the dimming lights and what not.

I hope for better music, this Ep1 stuff feels like it's 6 or seconds on a loop.
First off the bat - music? Is this really the Senoue I've grown to love? Nutty. Controls need a little cleaning up too, but the visuals are nice - and like the Sandopolis esque level and the Casino level in general. The boss music makes me cry in a bad way. Hmmm, gotta go to work but will post more later!

That said, Labyrinth Zone and Mad Gear Zone have some great tracks almost on the level of the Classic series, so maybe, just maybe, he'll get there.
I think there are a couple of composers who did music for 3D Sonics (aside from Senoue) that could really do a lot of good tho.
Damn, this last chaos emerald is pissing me off big time. I get more pissed off that I have to then run through another level, snagging 50 rings to retry it again.
Not digging the Special Stages really.
Then again I never liked the Sonic 1 Special Stages either. They give me a headache.
EDIT: Yay I beat the last one which was a total douchebag and now I can be Soupa Sawnik.
His jumps are weird but apart from that he's fun to play and and ngl I really missed being able to play as him in 2D Sonics. It's a minor niggle but I think it just adds to the pile of things that makes Sonic 4 a "classic" as opposed to say Sonic Advance.
Full second opinion posting up later mkay.

Out-done? I think the word is DESTROYED. Shame it will be C+D'd in about a day. Not that the guys making it care, I'm sure.
sonic team should take them fans on help them fix sonic 4 befor part 2 come out
but it should be more colourful

Now that's what I expect a Sonic the Hedgehog 4 game to look like.
*Awaits a negative comment towards it, from Superlink*

Two people.
I mean that's impressive shit.
Reusing an engine and replacing the visuals to run on PC sure is harder than making an entirely new game built from ground up for consoles.
I'm not saying it's not impressive, but a game like that also looks more impressive than NSMBW considering it's been built by two people.
Noone has a problem with NSMBW, even though two fans can make something more impressive than it.
Because it's not built ground up to run on consoles.
Seriously guys. Why does everyone love NSMBW, when Sonic 4 does the same thing for the Sonic series (questionable physics aside), and everyone hates it?

Just looking at all the cool little physics changes and graphics effects going on, I'd say these 2 guys have put more work into this demo than Sega did on Sonic 4.

NSMBW plays exactly like the classic Marios and isn't trying to pass itself off as a sequel. That's why nobody minds it. If NSMBW was called Super Mario Bros 4 or Super Mario World 2 then we'd have a problem.

Plus if it were called "New Sonic The Hedgehog", I think the fans would have been even more angry, calling it a rip off and etc.
Any other name simply wouldn't have gotten the attention it needed for sufficient feedback.
Sonic 4 was noway near NSMBW hell i think sonic 4 was a one step to far back
Sonic 4 you just play the level and they no story at all to start just run to the end why? what happen?
anything would had been better then nothing
all the level where just old levels and bosses and anything new was just annoying and didnt work the way it should
Sonic is all about momentum but in sonic 4 you cant get anything and if you dont hold down the way you want to go you lose it faster then a dont what
how can you lose momentum flying in the air as a ball so fast?
they should had call it Sonic 2 HD remix levels

SuperLink said:To be fair it's just as story heavy as Sonic 1.
Cliffhanger? Better than nothing.
Episode 1 was fully intended to be a throwback episode.
they could had just had sonic seeing somthing blow up or a badnik anything maybe badniks take sonic drink?
throwback episode is just bull shit they still could had done new things with the old art stlye and alot of the levels had big spaces of nothings

Sonic Colors GT Review
Yep.
And most other reviewers gave it atleast an 8 or 9.
IGN gave an 8.5, maybe we should make a colours thread.
Mod Edit: Video seems to be having trouble loading and slowing the rest of the page down as a result. See video here:

A few people at the E3 Sonic Boom event are saying Sega were playing Sonic 4 Episode 2 music. Looks like it's certainly not dead.
Episode I's OST has some good tracks in it, after listening to 16bit renditions that converted me, like Mad Gear and some of the Lost Labyrinth stuff.
It's a case of the music is better than the game, like Sonic 3D Blast, where the gameplay was shoddy and "Fuck them flickies", and the music was godly and underserving of that horrible isometric bullshit.
Episode II gives SEGA a chance to fix what they fucked up on in EpI, which for me is physics, level design (which was wank in some places) and the horrid Sonic model.
EDIT: Oh please change boss theme and don't put dick things like that horrible run thing on Mad Gear Act 3 which I despise. Thanks.
