It's looking quite good so far, even if it's only nearly as good as the original trilogy it'll still be a monumental return to form.
Yeah it's interesting that they're breaking it up into three editions. I understand the benefit of episodic instalments and all that jazz - but it does draw in more comparison with the original trilogy.
As I recall, Sonic Team don't do expectation well.

The only ones working on Sonic 4 who worked on Sonic 3 are Senoue and Iizuka. Senoue on music (ofc) and Iizuka was one of the game designers of S3.
Anyway I hope Dimps can pull this off without it being too similar to Advance or Rush. It definitely looks more like Advance than Rush right now, thank god.

I want it so you gain momentum and go faster from that.
Dimps eh? Interesting. Was it handed it to them because Sega have lost all faith in Sonic Team?
Well it should be interesting at least. Hopefully the fact it isn't the same developers doesn't mean they're going to obsess a little too much over making it like the original trilogy and end up just replicating it. Don't get me wrong, something along those lines would be awesome, but after two decades there's got to be a few things that need to change.
Alternatively, if they made a hand-drawn 2D Sonic, they could make it as shit as Rush and Adventure combined and I'd still buy it.

Change = Homing Attack and greater speed mixed in to classic platforming gameplay, I just hope they can pull it off without making it a mash A and hold right to win fest.

But yeah I agree with your point anyway. I'd kill for a hand-drawn game.
Having said that:
Mmmmmm.... Sega Blue Sky.
Right. Almost the WHOLE soundtrack for Episode 1 has been ripped and leaked onto the net, and this is pretty much everything minus 1up and Stage Clear jingles etc.
I listened to a couple, not bad but not amazing. Unfortunately they've been removed too. For now.
But here's something else mega-cool!
Leaked footage of the first stage, I'm assuming from the finished game.
Things I noticed:
- Spinning off a jump puts Sonic in a "whee" animation, does this mean you can't spin into the air?
- He never uses the spindash. In Sonic 2 and 3 I use it all the time. Are we gonna have a useless spindash again?
- Sonic 3 1Up jingle!
- Sonic 3-present Stage Clear jingle!
Was personally hoping for Sonic 1-2's Stage Clear Jingle, since I love it, but it's still supercool.
Nice find
Looks good and I quite like the animations used for him.
This is... something totally unrelated to Sonic 4: http://www..com/?d=4OPF0CE3
PS. I didn't upload it

Ooooh! I quite like the Labyarinth level (presumably 3rd act?) and err.. the last Act's good. 2nd's a bit urgh and the boss music is pretty crap
Plus this is AWESOME:

That sounds awesome, at least I don't have to wory about the game's music now.
The new video of Spash Hill looks great. But I am a bit worried about the spin dash. But I think that is a Beta video. I am looking more and more forward to this game. I have only listened to one of the leaked pieces of music.
OK Lost Labyrinth looks awesome. I had lots of doubts after watching Splash Hill, but the spin doesn't look too useless anymore, and I could see him using it well to gain momentum down some hills. Also the stage gimmicks look great.
Not sure what to think about the game's music in general. I think they've worried too much about being retro that the quality is actually worse than that of Sonic 3's. There are plenty more unique things they could do with the music. I just think it's a bit of a shame the music isn't really up to scratch with past Sonic games.
Maybe future episodes will have better music?
EDIT: After hearing the boss music again it's not bad.
I bet you guys didn't know this:
Thanks for the Sonic 4 music, Guest
Liking the Zone 3 Act 2 music.
The game looks better but the way Sonic seems to walk up slopes as if they are level ground is a bit awkward-looking. It looks lovely and seems to retain a lot of classic Sonic gameplay style.
I'm liking the overall art design, but dislike the huge point scores that pop up upon killing an enemy - they look crude. Sonic seems larger than ever before, and the screen more focused in on him, I'm guessing that's because they want to show off his subtle animations better.
Azuardo said:Someone else had to point this out to me, but he only does that when he gets the speedshoe power up, so no worries! ^^

Just watched a bunch of leaked videos and I'm not liking how fast Sonic is. It's like Sonic has constantly got the speed power up. I really hope they tone it done a bit.
I also hope you can turn off the reticle that pops up on every single object. The homing looks like it'll make the game much easier so I'll probably just ignore it unless necessary
Music and graphics look good though. (Not liking the boss music though.)
Jesus, why would they lift anything from Sonic 3D, of all the sonic games why that!
Lost Labyrinth Act 2 leaked video looked absolutely horrendous. My hype is down, tbh.

What were they thinking? They'd better fix this or get rid of it.
