Yeah FFVI and VII had a decent mix of futuristic and medieval.
However if the series stays in the future too long I begin to worry about the franchise losing its way. Even the class names were completely changed in FFXIII. It's like FFXIII was:
"Final Fantasy that's only Final Fantasy by name"
They've mentioned things like seeing as the world and areas are already designed from the first game, they could focus a lot more on the story in a sequel.
If you ask me they focused too much on the world and story, and not enough time on the gameplay. First half anyone?
Seriously the "lack of towns because they're too hard to make in HD" kinda suggests to me that they were focusing on all he wrong things.
It'd be nice if XV returned to a classic feel, perhaps with a new gameplay style. Playing FFIX I was reminded of why I even loved FF in the first place. FFIX is like a defining game for the series imo, games like that are the starting point, so it would be nice to see it return there once in a while.
Classes, large characters casts, medieval setting, item/weapon shops, inns, strange races. Yeah.
