well it not happing you can keep wishing but no news yet Smilie so dont get all your hopes up Smilie you can keep wish and wishing it may happen but ff13 and FFv 13 are not the same game and it could easy stop only on ps3

so dont get your hope up unless they say somthing let talk about the game and not what you hope will happen

I hate that type of partys i hate that more and more RPG are going down that way

I don't think VersusXIII will come to 360 nor do I particularly care whether it does not, but it would be nice for FF fans who don't have a PS3.

As for those types of parties, what's bad about them? I personally wish there were more 4 person parties where everyone was more directly controllable, because nowadays it's like you only control one character and you have some loose rules controlling sometimes bad AI party members.

But the KH style party members is ok, their AI is pretty good.

Picking moves over them picking they own anyday

if you fighting as a party then you need to plan your movie when the others in the party are AI I dont feel like part of the party I could just heal them and they will win for me

or like ff12 do nothing and still win

I have been thinking about getting this game for a while, I have played FF1,2,3,4,4DS,6,7,8,9, kind of stopped after that.
So i'm pretty much stuck in the past with regard to how Final Fantasies actually play.

I was put off by a lot of reviews and decided to wait until the price dropped.

Think I would enjoy it?

Probably. It's a solid game, but it's lacking in that "god tier RPG" feeling FF once had. It just now feels like a generic JRPG.

By the way, your lack of FFV disturbs me.

I was playing the GBA games, and after 1,2,4 i was getting a bit sick of the way they looked, seen ff6 and you could tell straight away it looked little different. Didn't have that rpg maker feel to it. Then the DS remakes where announced and they were pretty awsome i was thinking "cool ff5 is next!" .
Never happened though but I know if i buy the gba one sqaure will announce the 3ds version 5 minutes later just to piss me off :p

Heh, I'm kind of in this frame of mind.

I own FF5 and 6 on PS1 and could play them through emulator on GBA or SNES, but it seems kind of inevitable that 3DS remakes will happen for the both of them, so I think I'd prefer to wait until then to play them. I've only played a few hours of each.

Still need to beat FF4DS too...

As it says in my status, I finally completed FF13. Smilie

Thoughts on the ending:

Found the game to be very good. My main problem with it was how for the first 10 chapters, the game was very linear.

Despite hating some of Tesuya's recent work, I thought each character in XIII were very well designed. Instead of going for a generic Advent Children look like in Versus, XIII has a beautiful world with unique and wonderful designs. Still, I really want to see more of Versus. Agito needs to be shown more too.

Bring on FF13-2 I say. I loved X-2 as it gave us a chance to see a FF world after it had been saved. It'd be nice to see how the the citizens of Cocoon handle freedom and a new home. With FF13 being all serious and a constant struggle for the characters, I want a story more relaxed.

I don't think we'll be getting a FF15 for a long time so a sequel to XIII would be a nice way to fill the gaps. Smilie

I honestly can't see an FFXIII-2 happening as well as two FFXIII spinoffs.

That's just nuts D: maybe if it achieves FFVII levels of popularity we'll see a terrible shooting game/RPG sequel in 10 years but I doubt that'll happen.

S-E are working on loads of FF games, they could be working on remakes as we speak, and they just announced a new original 2D FF called "Final Fantasy Legends" for phone and maybe eventually Wiiware.

During the March launch, I think the producer mentioned that he wanted to do a direct sequel and that it depended on how 13 performed. Then again, I think he also said he didn't know if there'd be FFXV or not either. Smilie

FFX-2 was able to be made because it used a lot of assets from X so a sequel to 13 wouldn't be that much of a stretch I don't think. Smilie

Anyways, give me a remake of FF5 on 3DS and I'll be happy. Smilie

I think XIII-2 will happen. They've mentioned things like seeing as the world and areas are already designed from the first game, they could focus a lot more on the story in a sequel. There was something about XIII which felt like a lot more could be explored or told afterwards, and it never felt wrong to question whether there'd be a sequel. I do think it will happen in time.

With XV, I've also read that they are still deciding on whether to take the game down the traditional Final Fantasy route, or go with the more futuristic approach of say VII or XIII.

( Edited 29.07.2010 17:39 by Azuardo )

I'd like to see somthing more like FF7 or even 6 where it's not in the too distant future or past.
I kind of liked that grimy dirty looking industrial looking settings compared to the ultra shiny neon glow future.

Yeah FFVI and VII had a decent mix of futuristic and medieval.

However if the series stays in the future too long I begin to worry about the franchise losing its way. Even the class names were completely changed in FFXIII. It's like FFXIII was:

"Final Fantasy that's only Final Fantasy by name"

They've mentioned things like seeing as the world and areas are already designed from the first game, they could focus a lot more on the story in a sequel.

If you ask me they focused too much on the world and story, and not enough time on the gameplay. First half anyone?

Seriously the "lack of towns because they're too hard to make in HD" kinda suggests to me that they were focusing on all he wrong things.

It'd be nice if XV returned to a classic feel, perhaps with a new gameplay style. Playing FFIX I was reminded of why I even loved FF in the first place. FFIX is like a defining game for the series imo, games like that are the starting point, so it would be nice to see it return there once in a while.

Classes, large characters casts, medieval setting, item/weapon shops, inns, strange races. Yeah.

Actually now that I thought about while I would like to eventually see a grimy dirty FF7/6 style I think i'd like to see a new Final Fantasy go really retro in style before that, like Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3 or 4 style medieval not even like 9 which had inklings of the industrial revolution starting with mist power or steam.

Would be nice to see that on a home console.

Classes, large characters casts, medieval setting, item/weapon shops, inns, strange races. Yeah.

Don't forget world maps!

Suppose I should be telling that to Squarenix .

My dream FF game is actually a classic turn based game set in the Crystal Chronicles world.

You have no idea how badly I want that.

that would be FF9 with FFCC races, FF9 and FFCC are really close

Yeah, same character designer 'n' all. The FFCC races are my favourite in the FF series.

He can't direct games though, look what happened to Crystal Bearers!
ANYWAY YES, DREAM GAME. If FFXV was a classic FF game set in the FFCC world and it was 3DS exclusive or something I'd like, marry Squeenix on the spot.

well SE be making a alot of RPG for DS cant wait to see what they have plan for 3DS FF5 and FF6 and im sure we not seen the end of FFCC

FF9 was going to be a spin off in away i wish it was maybe we have more like it

Jump_button said:

Maybe but I'm glad it was a mainseries game, it reminds people of FF's roots.

Plus we've got FF Gaiden and FF Legends which are both pseudo-classic FF games but they're a bit different to what we're used to.

But yeah I'm superstoked to see what they have planned for the 3DS. I'm actually worried about FFCC because Crystal Bearers kinda failed didn't it? I thought the future on the series hinged on the success of that (unfortunately kinda crappy) game.

Yeah would be nice seeing the Crystal Chronicles world fleshed out in a standerd Final Fantasy.
I'm not sure there is much life left in it though with Square doing it's best to ruin the Crystal Chronicle franchise lately.Smilie

Idk I think the DS efforts were really solid considering the platform.

But the Wii game.... I'll be really upset if that single mistake was the downfall of the whole series. I really love it. D:

There seems to be always somthing wrong with the console efforts, the fact it didn't get off to a particularly good start being hampered with GBA's and GBA cables.

Then the weird DS port on the Wii, for no real reason at all.

Then just a plain stinky game. It's like they want it to fail! Smilie

The wiiware ones have been consistent at least but there not exactly what people really want from the franchise.

That was really the only thing I could fault with the first game. However part of me thinks Nintendo forced them into it so they could advertise the gimmick.

My solution, pretend the Wii version doesn't exist and play the awesome DS version with friends. Smilie but yeah what the fuck.

Neither was Crystal Bearers >.< it didn't even have multiplayer.

There are many FF titles available over PSN, including VII and IX, which are two of the best games in the franchise.

FFXIII is alright, but you could definitely do better. It doesn't represent the series very well.
