Shows Kain fighting Cecil and Light fighting Garland. Light's using Odin's twin swords, in what looks like her EX Burst. Also looks to be based on her gestalt mode from FFXIII.

Don't know what the two bars underneath the HP gauge mean though. Looks to remain mostly the same then, with some new mechanics.

Wonder if there'll be any sort of link up between the two games if you have a Dissidia save file? Wouldn't bet on it, but might be nice to throw in something extra.

I kind of like Dissidia though it does get very repetitive and sometimes the difficulty spikes too much though I may just be crap at it. Also, all the guys look even more like women than ever before. Tetsuya really needs to keep his fetish for girly guys to himself.

Vaan confirmed for Duodecim. Not a surprise really.

Be interesting to see who else makes the cut now that the central characters from all the main FF games are in.

I think Seifer would make a good addition. Good rivalry with Squall and would work with Ultimecia on the villains side.

I think Yuna might have a big chance too, seeing as she's got her own game, and she'd help to increase the female heroine numbers.

Still needs an FFXIII villain too. Unfortunately, I found Barthandelus a bit weak as the main antagonist, but he's probably most likely to make it.

I can't believe how lucky I was.. considering the only FF game I've played through was FF7 and it happened to be the best of them all

I've beaten XII for the first time today too. Glad I finally got around to playing it. I was really impressed. The battle system seemed so... right. I loved the more real time approach, but what I do love about the FF series as a whole is that we have these different styles. I mean, I love X's battle system too. XII seemed like it took a bigger leap in changing the system up a bit, but it really worked. If XIII had been more like XII, then I know I would have raved about it so much more.

The characters of XII were great, but it was obvious Vaan and Penelo were late additions. They said very little and didn't add much to the story. It's urged me to replay Revenant Wings again though (got far but didn't beat it last time). I know we get a better insight of Vaan in that. But I loved XII a lot as a whole; the characters and the world was great, so I will understand RW much better and enjoy it more now

Want Balthier as FFXII's third rep so fricking badly x_X

I hope every game gets 3 reps anyway. It's kinda unfair if not.

Vaan wasn't exactly a man originally, but now he looks like a 10 year old girl on steroids. Then again, after he turned Bartz into cherie blair on the first game, I'm not suprised anymore.

Yeah I really want to see Luneth from III. I thought it was a bit silly to just use an Onion Knight on the first game when they had actual characters to use.

From VIII, I'd probably pick Zell or Irvine because they're quite neglected.

Balthier is a must though I wouldn't mind Fran if for some reason they chose her (though why would they not choose Balthier??) He needs the same VA too.

I've played part one recently again and its just sick how good this game still is.. even the old graphics are okay for because the atmosphere is really great.. I guess some games never get boring or old.. final fantasy is defiantly one of them in my opinion..

Create your own stories and share them internationally in Dissidia 012.

Not entirely sure how this will work, but I wonder how complex players will be able to go with this. Could potentially create an infinite number of different stories that players can download from others.

Yuna also confirmed, and can use 2 aeons at a time in battle, including Shiva, Ixion and Bahamut. EX Burst uses all three summons to perform The Sending. Looks like she will only be played as a summoner, but likely have her gunner outfit as an alt costume.

Also, apparently, the whole of the Dissidia 1 story will be in the game too. Dissidia 2 supposedly tells of the part of the war before Dissida 1, and explains why the new characters were never there afterwards. It already sounds like a really big game, and this may have to be a day 1 purchase for me. I'm getting really excited and just want to play through with Lightning right now.

Anyone know if the transferring of Dissidia 1 data to Dissidia 2 will be region specific? I'm guessing it will, but need to know if I should have to get the US version as I have the US version of Dissidia 1. Unless of course it's possible to turn your US save data into a UK save data...? Will have to do some research...

But seriously, anyone else getting more and more excited by this game? Square seem to be putting a lot of effort into this one. Makes you wonder what they could achieve with a PS3 version... FFXIII graphics for Dissidia 3, and I'm there.

I'm not too sure about Dissidia 012. I like the first game but it's not really grabbed my attention much. I've completed Cloud's story (chose him due to low difficulty).

Yuna + Aeons could persuade me though when I see footage. Her gunner costume as her second outfit is a must too!

I was a big fan of the first one but don't play it anymore. The lack of a villains story was disappointing, despite the whole tagline for the game: "Which side will you choose?" (to that effect at least). But Dissidia 012 will feature villains stories too.

I also think Jecht is on the Cosmos side this time around too.

I was worried the sequel would just be more of the same, but with new characters, so I wasn't anticipating it too much. But these recent pieces of new info have started to get me really excited.

I'm eager to see what can be done with these fanfics that can be created by players. Hopefully there will be some really good ones to play through. But again, we know nothing of how it works, so it might be pretty basic. Hope not though. But that's where a PS3 bluray would definitely come in handy. This sort of game would be a godsend on the PS3 and make even more possibilities.

It's been hinted at a couple of times by Square, so it doesn't surprise me. I've always suspected FFXIII-2 would happen eventually. Don't know why. The cut content had nothing to do with the 360 version. The game would have been exactly the same had there been no port. Square said that pretty much all cut content had been cut before the decision to go multi-plat.

Is that so? Guess people assumed it was because of the 360 discs holding a lot less, and probably right to think so.

Well, either way, I hope they do manage to make a game just as big as the original. Something less-linear with more interaction with people and minigames etc.

A lot of Sony fanboys cried about the Xbox ruining FF13. The 360 used 3 dual-layered discs so space wasn't an issue (though the cutscenes did still need to be compressed sadly). A lot of the cut content were unfinished sections that couldn't have even been offered as DLC as they wouldn't have made any sense in the way the game is played. Shame they went with the linear approach.

Final Fantasy XII was HUGE so FFXIII-2 certainly could achieve a big non-linear world. They wanted to have more control over the story and set pieces in FF13 an early interview explained as an answer to the linear aspect of the game.

I personally would love another x-2 approach with a fun upbeat soundtrack and story. It was really nice playing through a world that had been saved and so, allowed the characters to relax a lot more.

Yeah, to be honest, I don't care what sort of approach they take with the sequel - I'm just happy to be able to play in that same world again with those same characters. A bit of a change in the battle system to include controlling all 3 party members would be nice, however.

I was reading Lightning's wiki page, and saw something about an FF13 epilogue: FFXIII Episode 1, which says:

"In Final Fantasy XIII: Episode I, an epilogue chapter set after Final Fantasy XIII, Lightning leaves to find a way to save Fang and Vanille from their fate. Eventually, she finds herself in a dark void of sorts but decides to keep moving forward."

So I wonder if the sequel is anything to do with that. Would sound about right anyway.

That reminds me I still need to beat X-2 as well. I gave up because I was trying to get 100% but got stuck at the sphere grid tournament. Bloody thing was well hard on the final match.

Two summoners would be interesting, though I'd bet on Vivi with a variation of Shantotto's moveset might be more likely (even more so if another Black Mage from the earlier games doesn't get introduced).

Oh, just wanted to share an interesting fact with you guys, and this'll be highly relevant to everyone that has played FFs 1-9. In IX, the 9 Knights of Pluto have characteristics based on each staring character of the FF game relating to their soldier number. For instance,
Steiner himself is I, and he resembles Warrior of Light quite closely; each has to battle the evil Garland to defend Princess Sarah.

Yeah during my current playthrough of IX on the PSP, I've been looking out for all the little references. It's amazing to see how much effort was put into it.

Apparently, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due for Xbox 360 and PS3 this year though that'll likely be Japan only.

New trailer available this week they say. NEW TRAILER HERE WATCH BEFORE IT GETS TAKEN DOWN. Lightning is the main character and in the trailer, was shown fighting a purple haired man (the logo guy?) whilst wearing this armour:

The game will have "an evolved battle system."

ALSO, Final Fantasy Agito XIII is now called Final Fantasy Type-0. They changed it as they don't feel it fits in with the FFXIII theme anymore. It'll also come on 2 UMDs. NEW AGITO TRAILER HERE. WATCH QUICKLY. Out summer 2011 in Japan.

FFVersusXIII is still a PS3 exclusive but no release date has been offered yet. NEW VERSUS TRAILER WITH ACTUAL GAMEPLAY HERE, WATCH QUICKLY. Looks amazing!!

Finally, in Japan, if you buy the Dissidia 2 demo (yes buy for about $3-4) Dissidia Duodecim Prologus, you'll unlock Aerith as an assist character in the main game. Aerith isn't playable and doesn't appear in the demo. The prologue is on PSN store only.
