A little bit of trivia I thought might interest Smash Bros Players here, there is/was apparently a College course on the subject of Learning to play and master the fundamentals of Super Smash Bros Melee. No, I'm not kidding.Smilie

Super Smash Brothers Melee Theory and Practice 0-1 Credit
Brian Mazur, Mike Blejer and Quentin Jones EXCO-845

This course will teach students the basic, intermediate and advanced combat techniques in the video game Super Smash Brothers Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube. This course will also provide in depth lectures and discussions involving many controversial issues concerning video games in our society today such as censorship, stereotyped characters, addiction, and gaming as an evolving art form. Gamecubes, televisions and controllers will be provided by the instructors. Gamers and non-gamers are welcome and encouraged to take this course. Classes will meet for two and a half hours each week-one and a half hours during regularly scheduled discussion and class time, and one hour outside regular class time as a practicum to practice and refine skills.

Site is here, the course description is near the bottom of the page.

Now, how many top Multiplayer titles can claim to be the subject of a College course? I doubt even Halo got that far. Smilie

My friend would absolutely LOVE that course.

pink power! lol! i really like the idea that you can now take a picture whenever you want. In melee, you would have to go play a special melee to do that. its so more convinent.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

LOL! nice pic.

Attack of the homosexual brawl characters Smilie well, not Luigi at least.

BOMBERMAN code: 2879 2176 8600, or just find me in a random match I think it might be time for Newspapers to look over their sponsorship contracts...

For the same reason why Nintendo put a pic of kittens in the Pokemon 2 stage....To please a small niche of gamers that bought their product.

Mike Jackson you fail at making a succesful spam!
lol Pink C. Falcon....

i hate spammers. thats all my sister does with zelda's dins fire

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

I hate to say it but I'm bored of Brawl already. It's a shame, as I played Melee for about 3 years. Even Sonic can't make me interested in it again Smilie

Bring on Gears 2.

Speaking of Din's Fire, hackers have used Ocarina and Homebrew Channel to add Melee's airdodge into Brawl, basically meaning you can wavedash. There's also a code that removed tripping.

I dunno how to use Ocarina though, and I don't think those codes exist for PAL Wiis.

Oh yeah, and the reason I said "speaking of Din's Fire" is because Melee's airdodge basically makes Zelda impossible to approach due to Din's Fire spamming.

true, is there a way to make dodgeing dins fire much easier with mario. cause ive been taking a beating from it and marios cape can' protect me forever.

http://www.usbgecko.com/codes THERE ARE PAL CODES! also, when you download Ocarina or the latest GeckoOS it comes with a PC based program to insert the codes into your SD card. Smilie I only use it to get rid of tripping offline (using codes online can corrupt your save file!)

Din's fire is a good move to use against "slow" characters and "light" characters. I still like Lucas the best though (MOTHER3 all the way!!!)

But there aren't any wavedashing or tripping codes Smilie

You didn't play Melee for 3 years as much as you played Brawl in the first few months. Wait a month or so and you'll start enjoying Brawl again.

Until last week I hadn't played Brawl once since end of August.

I also started playing Melee again a bit more frequently.

SuperLink, you can request a code in the WiiRD forum, if you don't request no one is going to make it.

Well the code was only discovered last week so they're probably working on it.

May check it out though, thanks.

one more thing, in the WiiRD forums, check the PAL section in there... Alot of times they have codes there that are not in the USBgecko site.

I still play Brawl and I've had it since March. As long as you got a good competition, the game never get's old. MLG have picked up Brawl now aswell so I guess that's more reason to play it.

Yeah, but I've never been to a Smash tourney and I'm starting to doubt I ever will. Smilie

I\'ve never been to a propper tournament either. By propper I mean actually going there and the rules are stock and no items. The rules for the official Nintendo tournament I won were 4 minutes items on :p and the X-league tournament was done over the net (I won £100 quid). So I have yet to go to a propper tournament and meet some experts.
Although one of the guys in the X-league tourney was a European Melee Champion. My bro beat him and the guy said that he\'s never going to play brawl again.Smilie

edit: the Pound sign doesn\'t work on C3 £

( Edited 21.10.2008 21:19 by L )

i like tourneys with stock and no items better cause then it shows who is the better player and items tend to turn the tide around in battles.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

I think tourneys are better with timed 5-min or 3-min battles and no items. That way it will truley show who is better. L... the pound sign hates us all on this site.

Generally the common consensus for fair tournaments are 8 minute 5 stocked matches with no items on stages like Battlefield and Final Destination.
