Bridge of Eldin is not a tournament level but Meta Knight is the cheapest and easiest character to play with. I never use him and I can still easily beat people with him.
Also I disagree with the position of Pokemon Trainer. I can beat expert Meta Knights with him.
However they did get the top tier right.

mario is the best character in brawl. he may not be the greatest hitter, but he is the most reliable. with good smash attacks and an above average jumping ability, he is definatly one of the best brawl characters.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

Hay guys... The first official tier list for Brawl is up...

Hooray...my two mains are in 'low'. Smilie

Poor Lucas and Pokmon Trainer. Smilie Don't worry guys, I love you.

I was pretty surprised at Lucas TBH. His smashes are lethal, I guess his recovery is a real downer. I expect he\'ll move up a little.

By the way, I discovered Mr G&W in the Melee days, long before these so called \"pros\" so him being 4th high tier will not change my mind.

His recovery is mediocre, he\'s a mid/lightweight, he\'s not a fast attacker, and he has rather short range. Just a few of his weaknesses.

EDIT: To all those who didn\'t know (I\'m assuming most/all of you) Sakurai put up a minor update a couple of weeks back onto the Smash Bros site.

EDIT: Kangaroo Kid, if you'd read the BackRoom discussion summaries on Smash Boards, you'd see that those things are taken into mind completely.

Pokmon Trainer's lowness could be to do with the fact you HAVE to switch between all 3 to play at his best, and your opponent, depending on the character they chose, could very easily use that to their advantage.

As for Jigglypuff, she's had a serious nerf. Her B attacks seem nearly useless now, she's still a demon in the air, but a good air game won't work well on all stages or against all characters.

Oh, of course they took those things into consideration but I think they should look mainly at those hard statistics rather than strategies certain high level Smash players use with characters. It just seems to me they do it the other way around.

As for Jigglypuff she has been nerfed a fair bit, Wall of Pain is nowhere near as effective as in Melee. But she still has excellent recovery abilities, sits in the middle tier for attack, Rest is still extremely dangerous, has some pretty strong smash attacks and her Final Smash can be a right bastard, especially on levels like Battlefield and Final Destiniation, two tournament arenas.

I haven't read the BackRoom boards, mind. Do they say why they've put each character in their respective tiers? I just can't get over R.O.B being in the top tier.

As I expected of my PSI boys top of the low tier group. It seems to me that the low tier has the characters with the highest learning curve. I'm a little surprised that Lucas is over Ness. I tend to gimp Lucas if I'm playing as Ness, but that might be because of experience Smilie

Tier list are nice, but like the pros say it still comes down to who's more experience. Also the lack of good PSI players keeps my opponents surprisedSmilie

I can certainly see why R.O.B. is top tier, since my brother was a good R.O.B. user for a long time. He's awesome TBH, and while he may not deserve a top tier place, he definitely deserves high tier.

Thios thread has discussions on strong and weak points of a character. And also keep in mind the tier list is very early, and is subject to lots of change.

I mean come on, Brawl has only been out for like half a year, and there's already a tier list. For most games a real tier list takes over a year to make, so there will obviously be improvements. Melee's last tier list was made as late as 2006.

Yay my Zelda is at mid. Smilie

Arghhh I haven't played Brawl in months though, absolutely no time.

Zelda should be a bit higher then mid, i would have thought, Seeing as she has good recovery, ridiculously strong moves and is not useable by noobs Smilie

Can brawl anytime now.....if you want an easy win
BOMBERMAN code: 2879 2176 8600, or just find me in a random match I think it might be time for Newspapers to look over their sponsorship contracts...

i think lucas is better than ness. his up smash is deadly.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

But slow.

Smilie you base your opinion off one move. You do know missing that move has heavy consequencesSmilie
For instance a sweet spotted PKT2Smilie

like I said:

true but they both have there ups and downs. i'm just better with lucas even though ness is stronger.

Yeah I guess, I just look at them as recovery/damage dealer(lucas) and KO power(Ness). Believe me you will have alot more KO opportunities with Ness, but it takes way more time and experience to see them.

If you wanna get better with Lucas go play Melee with Ness. All his short comings will be hell training for Lucas usersSmilie

I'm considering maining one of those two, whoever can convince me which is the more powerful character *ONCE MASTERED, however long it takes*, I'll reward with 2 stars.

Well that's going to depend on you play style. If you like to spam use lucas since his specials are faster than Ness'. If your more strategic go Ness His PKT2 mind game is extraordinary not to mention he holds the strongest spike in the game. Thats only there specials though as far as Smashes and attacks they flip flop. You can spam Lucas' stick, but his up and down smash although very strong, if missed be prepared for the consequences because of the heavy lag. As for Ness you can spam his yo-yo resulting in blocks and counter attacks, but even though his bat holds the same reflected properties as Lucas' stick it can leave you open to attacks. It is slightly stronger with a wider tipper though. In midair Lucas is about racking up damage while Ness enforces KO attacks.

The big question is what is your definition of "more Powerful" if it's recovery 1st then Lucas is your kid if your concentrated on KO's then Ness is the way to go. Either way you may want to train with Melee Ness for a good hard foundation of PK Thunder Knowledge. Thats the Ness that got the shit end of the stickSmilie

thats true. i'm not the greatest with lucas but i'll play as him once in a while. anyone can be good with any character, you just got to learn how to use him/her. i'm kinda glad lucas isn't a clone character of ness like they had in melee. (ex Dr. mario to mario, or fox to falco.)

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

Or you could just see who's higher in the tier list. Smilie The tier list isn't the Smash Bros bible on character matchups or anything (yet?) but neither is anyone's opinion.

What's this shit I keep hearing about a AR code for Mewtwo?

Fake.

Someone made a texture hack for Lucario to look a bit like Mewtwo but that's all.

I don't have Melee, so pretty much I gotta work from the ground up on brawl Ness. I think I'll go for him, if no-one else has any reason for me not to.

Ness>Lucas (power) Lucas>Ness (speed)
That's my experience.. Still I use lucas more as his PKthunder bodyslam capture opponents and deals multiple hits.. Also PK Love (up smash) and PK BrainShock (side A running) are really good if you know how to use them.

what about fox vs falco? fox is faster and uses his speed to overwhem oppenents and falco is a great jumper and can deal more damage. i kinda think falco is better but i don\'t know if i\'m right or not.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

Falco is better because he has kinda glitched attacks (i.e. infinite laser) and his high/quick jumping is very handy for shorthopping and aerials.

Falco is better mostly because of his cheap chain throws.
