I only have laggy matches if the people i face have bad connections, it's like my wireless router was built for Nintendo Wi-Fi(well the Wii's one).
My mains are between Lucario and Toon Link now.
Lucario is awesome, I just relised after 5 months. :p
I will challenge you all to game....once i buy it
Ive always wondered if there are people better than me out there... ive only ever found a few people who could ever beat me!
Two questions:
1. Can somebody tell me how you implement customised controls in Classic Mode? It must be do-able, although I\'ve got a sneaking suspicion that they put some pleb in charge of this decision and he made the wrong one.
2. How do you erase a Custom Control Profile from the list?
Edit. Ah, no worries. I worked it out. I didn\'t think they could be that stupid
( Edited 25.07.2008 16:43 by artmonkey )You should be able to choose names in all modes, and your control system is assigned to your name.
Lucario was my main from almost the start.
Getting a lan adapter soon. Will be wanting to brawl online.
Out of interest, who here customises the controls?
I'm using the remote/nunchuck combo because my GC leads don't stretch to the sofa. I've switched the jump button to A, shield to C and attack to Z. I'm still experimenting and I might yet switch A and Z over again. I'm glad to get the shield out of the way though.
I also switched the D-pad to Smash moves and turned on the waggle Smash., although I haven't really used it at all.
I turn off Tap Jump, and sometimes I set the C-Stick to Tilt attacks rather than Smashes. I never use C-Smashes anyway, and Tilts can get hard to use (using Smashes accidentally instead)
I use nunchuck plus Wiimote. Turn offf waggle smash, turn off tap jap, and swap the up and down d-pad as quick smash attacks.
I just use the standard GC controls except I turn off the jump with up ctrl stick. Much easier to use up tilts when that is off.
Can someone please tell me if you can sort the names list? I've had a look around the game options but couldn't see anything and searching on the internet gives me loads of results that aren't applicable.
I find it annoying that myself and brother who play it most have to scroll to the bottom of the list to get to our names, past our friend's names who hardly play it.
I'm getting quite into this game now, completed the subspace, unlocked quite a few characters and events, but obviously still have so much more to unlock. Still can't use the shield very well though.
Exactly, that really gets to me, the way its impossible to delete un-used names from the list. There MUST be a way to do it.
I've recently completed every challenge except for 100-man brawl with all characters. Intense boss mode took a complete month of solid work to do, but i did it, thank god i dont have to do it again
I use the classic contraller, would use the GC but im more used to classic.
Changed the Y button to grab (hate using the tiny Zl, Zr buttons on top, and i use X to jump anyway), turned of tap-jump for easy strong-up moves.
You can't search/re-arrange the names list and I don't know if you can delete names either... It is annoying because my name was made first and I have to scroll RIIIIIGHT down to the bottom. :/
1. Go to names list (the actual one in the menu, not on the character select screen)
2. Transfer that name to your Wiimote (hit start for gamecube, + button for everything else to start transferring)
3. Delete the name on your Wii console
4. Now go back to the transfering and transfer your name from the Wii mote to your console
5. Your name is now first on the list!
Of course, it's kind of annoying doing this all the time, and new names will just push it down the list again, but at least you can get the names you use the most somewhere near the top.
Thanks for the info General Meevious, do you know if this removes the data for that name from the wii? ie play time KOs etc.
I've got someone on my friend list with a blue connection.
really? wow thats a first lol
I am sort of stuck on the Research Center level. Something to do with those annoying platforms, the ones that you can\'t drop through.
Did anyone have the same problem?
I tried shooting at them and nothing happened.
EDIT: Hey, which controller mode do you like to use? I use the Wii remote horizontally in a game controller grip.
( Edited 25.08.2008 14:38 by Firefly )Not sure what you mean in the Research Center, sorry.
I use the Gamecube controller. Now that I've tried them all, the others all seem really bad in comparison. The Classic controller is WAY too small! It just feels odd.
Hay guys... The first official tier list for Brawl is up...
Poor Sonikku. Bet noone expected Yoshi to place where he did. He's not really that bad TBH... Captain Falcon though...
Never liked how they arranged the official tier lists. There should be more emphasis on attack power, weight, KO potential etc. rather than a handful of tournament players observations of strategies.
Completely different to the list I have in my head. Obvious ones are R.O.B should be lower, Pokmon Trainer should be higher and Jigglypuff should DEFINITELY be higher, way higher.
What a crap list.

What he said.
I know they're based on what people use most in tourneys but in terms of which characters are actually best and worse they're got it almost completely wrong.
IMO Snake and R.O.B are the only one's in the top tier that really should be there then toonlink should be aswell.
Jigglypuff should be higher aswell IMO.

There are bad parts of it. Metaknight?! he's the noobiest character in the game!
YES!!! Game and Watch owns all!!!!! I knew he'd be up there.
MetaKnight is the noobiest because he\'s broken. All his aerials are nearly completely lagless, he moves quickly, has a good recovery, and has a fair few good KOing moves too.
The tier list isn\'t made just from tournament data. Some of the best players in the community get together and thoroughly try out every character\'s movesets against other characters for matchups etc. I personally thought the list wasn\'t too bad. We all knew MetaKnight and Snake would end up at the top, and we all knew Yoshi and Link would end up at the bottom. Of course it\'s subject to change and it\'s very likely to change drastically in the next few years as people improve.
I personally don\'t think the tier list should sway anyone to change their minds about which characters they use. You main who YOU play best as, and maybe at your current skill level can not play too well with certain characters (For instance I\'m not very good with Dedede, while I\'ve seen some amazing D3ers) but this may change as you play more.
It seems likely at this point in time though that the best MetaKnight player in the world would rape the best Captain Falcon player in the world. Whether you choose to let them sway you, or if you don\'t follow them at all, it doesn\'t make the tier list any less true.
EDIT: Kangaroo Kid, if you\'d read the BackRoom discussion summaries on Smash Boards, you\'d see that those things are taken into mind completely.
Pokmon Trainer\'s lowness could be to do with the fact you HAVE to switch between all 3 to play at his best, and your opponent, depending on the character they chose, could very easily use that to their advantage.
As for Jigglypuff, she\'s had a serious nerf. Her B attacks seem nearly useless now, she\'s still a demon in the air, but a good air game won\'t work well on all stages or against all characters.
