Automated loops most likely. Smilie Let's just be thankful he didn't need a booster to get round it like in...

Sonic 4 was a massive insult and whilst this looks a million times better in both graphics, music and physics, it still doesn't quite seem to be on par with the classic physics.

I hope the 3DS version turns out well and is different enough from the console versions to warrant purchasing both. Smilie

Yeah, I know it sounds awful picky, but it doesn't seem 100%. This is probably the closest we will get unless they just used Sonic Mega Drive's engine. But I'm content. Here's hoping that with the success of Generations, it will spawn more Sonic games like it.

I never thought about the possibility of the 3DS version being different, but it makes sense if they want people to try and purchase both (and for 3DS-Cafe connectivity).

Also, this needs to be added:

And, amidst searching for that sprite, I found this:

Wouldn't a Sonic game looking like that be fucking awesome?

^ Need to put a space between that smilie and your link Smilie

Apparently doesn't confirm it's Generations, but definitely a new Sonic coming to 3DS. Most likely gonna be a Generations of some sort though.

Bad times for SEGA if they were really trying to keep it secret until an official announcement at E3. Smilie

So it is coming out on the 3DS now? That's good news.

The 3DS version will be Classic 2D and Rush 2D for the modern sections. Think of it as a handheld representation of modern Sonic. Smilie

I've seen the scans and the game doesn't look too good graphically. Hopefully it'll look much better in motion/clearer pics. Smilie

The 3DS version has exclusive levels also, one of them is Casino Night Zone.

I was hoping the 3DS version would be closer to the console versions, to be honest. I'm not a great fan of the Sonic Rush games. They're alright, but not as good as classic Sonic side scrollers. To hear Sonic Generations will be more like the 'Rush' games makes my heart sink a little.

I'm still a little aprehensive anyway after being thoroughly dissapointed with Sonic 4.

um ok will this game be worth getting haven't really played a sonic game snice the game gear days or the genesis days and that was the 1990"s for all you young people game gear was the first colored hand held game system from sega Genesis . and still have till this day now thoose were the days

A lot of us are older than you think! And first colour handheld? Atari Lynx, my friend Smilie

Anyway, E3 can't come soon enough now because I'm not impressed by the 3DS screens so far. Needs gameplay footage to do it justice. After seeing Dead or Alive and SSF4, the 3DS is capable of much more.

But I'll definitely be getting the console version. Best-looking Sonic game since the Mega Drive days.

It was known as the Sega GameGear. I used to have one myself. Smilie

I don't know what happened to it though, it just disappeared one day.. >.<

Vooks:

The 3DS version is being directed by Tetsu Katano, he directed Sonic and the Black Knight that was on the Wii a couple of years back. The 3DS version will be a complete 2D side scroller in both modern and classic modes of the game. The game will play a lot like Sonic Colours and Sonic Rush.

There’s only one level shared between all the console versions and that’s Green Hill Zone, the rest of the levels on the Nintendo 3DS will have are completely exclusive including Casino Night zone. The Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations will only have the characters essential to the story, that means none of Sonic’s ’friends’. The Modern Sonic mode of the game will use the 3D display more than the classic sonic as he’ll move between the foreground and the background levels.

The other features of the Nintendo 3DS will be getting used to with StreetPass used to unlocked additional challenges, Play Coins can also unlock these modes. The 3DS versions also has a two player race mode but only for local multiplayer. Oh and a Wii version? According to Sega they want the console versions to be in HD, no hard feelings right?

Expect to see more of all versions of Sonic Generations early next month at E3.

Although physics is not bad! The lack of shame is the Wii (or even three-dimensional animation) support, though, this is strange. I thought they would at least consider the three-dimensional animation and a portable PSP version. Savings "Wii2"? I wish!

Can definitely imagine a Wii2/Cafe/N6 version of it - will probably be announced at E3.

Don't forget the Nomad.

It will be a shame if Modern Sonic is Rush style 2D on the 3DS. I was looking forward to Adventure style 3D on the 3DS, as i'm sure it would be capable.

Disappointed, be that the case.

SINCE 06

Final Sonic Generations (PS3/360 version) stages revealed?

A demo of Generations is coming too.

I really like how they are bringing various levels from various games.

Sky Sanctuary? :C where's my Ice Cap Zone :C

Glad they put Chemical Plant in there though.

SINCE 06

I didn't expect it to be one stage per game. I thought they would just be taking a number of stages from a number of games. There's no ice or fire stage in that list.

But they are saying the 3DS version will have different levels, so you may get your Ice Cap Zone in that one.

That is IF the above level revealing is true. After all the Wii U rumour crap we got before E3, you can't really trust everything you hear until it comes straight from the horse's mouth.

Dat Music.

UNNNGGG

I was reading a lot that Sega don't plan to use Classic Sonic again after this. I reckon they will though, once they start seeing all that profit coming through. They'd be mad not to.

If the 3DS version really does have different stages, I'll probably end up getting both that and the XBox game too. My poor wallet. Smilie

I think the best thing SEGA can do is use the classic design and gameplay to represent the handheld games, and the newer one to stay on consoles. That way, both fans old and new can choose the gameplay they prefer, and the awesome original design can stick around. Plus, 2D is perfect for handheld machines. Smilie

Had to post this here.

Sonic 1 and 2 Soundtrack Compilation coming to Japan

With Sonic’s 20th anniversary right around the corner, Sega is just pumping out the goodness. It was recently announced that they will release a soundtrack containing all the music from the original Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 some time this summer. Apart from the ingame music, the compilation will also come with a reprint of the original Sonic 1 demotape of the games’ composer Masato Nakamura (of DREAMS COME TRUE), as well as a recording of Sonic 2′s demotape and several other bonus tracks. So far the compilation has only been announced for Japan, but let’s hope Sega doesn’t forget about their western fans.

Hopefully this won't just be limited to Japan.

From what I see - it looks promising though I hope it will be at least as good as Sonic Colours - I loved that game to bits SmilieSmilieSmilie

Shame there's nothing similar to SA 1 and 2 on the dreamcast - sort of level
