Maybe they wanted a break from Batman? I know there are many devs who can work on solely one franchise for many years, but perhaps they didn't really want to do another Batman game.

I think they were rumoured to be working on a teenage mutant ninja turtles game. Not sure if there was any truth to that.

Has anyone had the same problem I've had with Need for Speed.

There was an update recently which seems to have filled the game with glitches and made the frame rate worse. I don't know what the update was for, but it doesn't seem to have done anything positive.

The game is still great, but I'm slightly annoyed.

Our member of the week

I was experiencing frame rate problems before the update, as well as frequent crashes when returning to the home menu... The frame rate problems occurred mostly when repeatedly putting the gameplay on the gamepad, then on the TV, and then the gamepad again... These are still as much present now... but the crashes are gone.

EDIT : We should play online sometime Smilie. I might not be as far into the game as you are, or as skilled, but it should be fun.

I had only a couple of crashes happen & the frame rate seemed pretty steady. After the most recent update the crashes (of the game, not the cars, although there have been plenty of those too) have increased glitches have increased (a floating driver without a car, turning a corner to find nothing ahead, more evident pop up, traffic appearing out of nowhere or disappearing & some textures going blurry) & races have suffered dips in frame rate that I never experienced before.

I don't know if I would say I'm skilled. I've found the to generally be easy (apart from a couple of races) though. I hope your seeing my Mii everywhere! Haha. I'd love to race you.

I've completed 97% of the main game & 100% of the added expansion. Been addicted to it. Addicted to the speed. You could say I have a need for speed!

Can't you just remove the patch if the game worked fine before it?

First thought was 'Why?';

Second thought was 'Okay, that's bloody impressive.'

Nintendo's stocks have risen by 11%, which is apparently the highest rise since 2008.
I don't think anyone can interpret this as bad news, Nintendo has done something that's made stockholders very happy.

Let's hope it continues!

Isn't that more of a currency exchange thing though? Dunno how stocks work. Smilie

His FF comments made me lol

Tales series on Wii U

"Our main target audience for the Tales franchise is still ultimately Japan, so when we make a game we want to target our main fanbase,""So we like the idea of the Wii U — we think it's a great system — and if it becomes more and more successful in the future that's a console we would like to tap eventually, but for the time being we don't have any plans and we are focused on maintaining our fanbase on PlayStation 3."

"It's still in our minds, we would really love to do a 3DS port. I'm not giving up on it yet, I would say there's still a chance." - Team lead TJ Lutz

Important note on Kirby's Adventure VC:

This is the European version of the game, which was optimised originally by the developer to offer gameplay and music speed similar to the US version. Demos and animations may run at PAL speed. The aspect ratio has been corrected for this release.

Very interesting in a variety of ways, I really appreciate how Nintendo is continuing attempts to give Europe the optimised 60Hz versions of games in these instances.
However, "Demos and animations may run at PAL speed". Is this negligible? I'm not as knowledgeable on  regional differences as I could be, but yes it's nice that Nintendo are making a regionwide effort to bring PAL versions "up to speed" (badumtss)

Actually the original version of the game WAS optimized for us Europeans already, so it took them no effort in the case of this specific VC version. And I can understand why we're given the 50Hz version this time, considering Kirby is one of those rare cases where a NES game was localised to various languages for Europe (at least I know a French version exists, since it's the one I purchased on Wii VC years ago).

Seeing this, I guess next month Super Metroid will be the 5OHz version too, so we can get the version that contains German and French texts (although these are useless really...). But again, we won't notice that much of a difference compared to the 60Hz version so it might not be as big of an issue as was with Ballon Fight.

Oh huh, really? When I played the Wii VC version I didn't notice much problem with it, so I guess there isn't much difference between them. In this case, is there a problem with it being 50Hz at all considering the aspect ratio was also fixed? :?

SM was poorly done, shoving German text at the bottom of the screen by default. Would rather the 60Hz version.

I don't know if Kirby is one of these examples, but some games were 'optimised' but were sometimes just cases of skipping frames to make them run quicker and such. I don't know exactly which ones were and weren't. Some say SMB3 runs quicker than if it was a straight 50Hz version, for example. But given that description Nintendo put out, perhaps Kirby was one of those that was optimised but actually, many parts of the game do in fact run in 50Hz, so it's not the true 60Hz game. It's a bit complicated, and I don't know for certain, but that description they put out makes me think it's something like this.

For what it's worth, I didn't notice any significant errors while playing it on Wii, I was actually constantly surprised at it being a NES game the whole time, Kirby is too advanced man.

Also I too hope they release the proper 60Hz version of SM, at least in UK.
The awkward subtitles made me think I'd accidentally gotten a non-English version of the game Smilie

Maybe for the most part Kirby was optimised very well, but only certain bits and bobs were left unoptimised (like animations, as they say). Nintendo maybe threw that disclaimer in there 'just in case' some people spotted the differences between the NTSC version, perhaps. So long as it really isn't a 50Hz game, then that's fine. They're definitely trying to get the 60Hz and optimised ones out there. But I guess if they have a choice between 60Hz English Only and Optimised Multi Language, they go for the latter to please more European non-English speakers.

No Castle of Illusion HD for Wii U...

^Very weird considering it was registered for classification for both WiiU and Vita, neither of which have the announcement.

Either it's coming at a later date, or those versions have been dropped. Maybe SEGA Studios Australia being closed has something to do with it.

Still says for Wii U and Vita on the IGN page...but i guess that is not much to go by.

Doesn't bother me too much anyway, who doesn't own one of the other formats anyway...

I think they mean the little skits between each world, and perhaps the intro sequence which may be slower. Of course in order to meet the same speed with only 50 images per seconds, they HAVE to drop 10 frames per second(duh!) but that doesn't mean you'll notice the game being more choppy. If the characters don't have more than 10 frames of animations per seconds anyway, you won't notice the difference because all 10 will still be visible during that second of time span, but each animation frame will be refreshed 5 times per second instead of 6, if that makes sense.

These things don't matter too much in terms of display, since the game on wii U is in fact rendered at 60Hz by the emulator (as in the console still sending 60 frames per second to the TV screen). But of course when it comes to scrolling, a Superman who can make out every individual frame out of 50 might notice the difference. But to the common mortal (as in myself), I can't see the difference.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate update is now live. Get downloading guys!

The Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us doesn't support the unlocking of content via the game's iOS variation, as seen with other versions. Also reported are performance issues and a lack of common online features.
