C3 @ E3

Surprised that there are so many awesome 3DS games that weren't mentioned during the actual conference. Guess they had limited time. The line-up really is looking fantastic though. Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, StarFox, Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart, Nintendogs, Pilot Wings, Kid Icarus... staggering.

That PlayStation Plus is a load of tosh. Having to pay for cross game voice chat to become a feature is bullocks.

Yep while watching the 2 hour sony conference I was cursing, stop talking and show some games!! Portal 2 and Twisted Metal were nice announcments but they didnt announce anything big, kind of like MS's show. Im glad they not bringing the new PSP out yet, theres some big upcoming titles I still need to play before im ready.

The only thing that concerned me about Nintendos E3 is the wii third party support. There isnt much, alot of fitness/dance/minigame crap and thats about it. Epic Mickey and Goldeneye are the only must have I can think of

I'm truly amazed at the amount of backing the 3DS is receiving at or around launch. Glad to see 3rd parties not afraid to put their big franchises on the system.

BTW, is it an insult to the Wii or a compliment to the 3DS that a few people initially thought Kid Icarus was a Wii game...

I had a little get-together for E3, and every time something amazing happened, we would yell and scream in excitement. When Miyamoto popped out, we flipped a shit! Same thing with Kid Icarus. That took up by huge surprise!

Overall, Nintendo blew the others out of the water. Microsoft's was just a bit embarrassment (I actually fell asleep during it), and Sony's was decent. Can't wait for Portal 2, but most of all, I'm cuming buckets over the 3DS!

Yeah a second analogue would be perfect. Why didn't the genius at Nintendo R&D think of this crucial feature though?

So one of my favourite YTPers decided to abridge the Microsoft press conference:

Nintendo were brilliant this year. That short-movie involving Shigeru, Satoru and Reggie is just so humanising and loveable, it makes me almost want to start buying the Official Nintendo Magazine again (but not quite). Plus, the 3DS looks fantastic. I'm completely pumped for it.

PS. Reggie is a pimp.

Summary of Miyamoto's Roundtable
- Battery life is important, he wants the 3DS battery to atleast match that of the DSi.
- Pikmin is still being worked on
- Miyamoto thinks he was misquoted on Pikmin 3 atleast once
- OoT 3DS remake is fully confirmed
- Touch control will make it easier to switch items
- The Water Temple will be made less frustrating in ways
- Orchestrated music for Skyward Sword
- The whip item idea comes from Spirit Tracks
- Miyamoto comments on the art style: I'm a fan of the visuals. It only went through one round to get my approval. - Holy shit.
- He was very unhappy about how the Zelda demonstration went
- Miyamoto told everyone some Skyward Sword spoilers, what a guy.

And I think that's about all the important stuff.

Oh I figured out how to play 3DS as a lefty with 90 percent compromise unfortunately...

Turn it upside down, up is down, left is right. We lefty know about adaptation better then right people. Or when i get one I'll open it up and turn the screens upside down.

Also the two colour thing is weird. That all black model better be available at launch!

If the battery level is like the DSi on the brightest setting then I guess that's not too bad considering the power. Will be like the PSP, charging after a few hours.

Don't forget MGS3, arguably one of the best looking games on PS2. Someone in the IRC chat did a comparison that seemed to show the 3DS screenshots were actually better than the PS2 ones, and MGS3 was a late PS2 game.

If late gen PS2 and PSP games are being beaten by early 3DS games, it's easily more powerful than those two. As for Wii, we'll have to wait and see.

They're clearly remakes, not ports. Looks quite a bit better visually.

Still, I'm not convinced the system is at Wii levels of power at all. strangely the Starfox shots have anti aliasing though.

I won't trust the Metal Gear visuals until I see in-game playable footage. Having a camera zoom around carefully selected scenery may be deceiving.
