Over 70.

Is it an even amount of songs from each FF or do some seem more favored than others? Also I'm guessing FF6 has the highest digree of difficulty for most of it's songs given the great fast paced soundtrack it had...am I right?

Even amount; about 5 songs per FFI-XIII, with some others here and there. Over 50 tracks planned for DLC.

Hard mode seems to be hard for any track, but more so for faster ones. Don't really know which in particular are harder than others, though.

Edit: Has to be said, though, from what I've read now, as far as rhythm games go, this is pretty easy actually.

How are people saying it controls? How acurate are the wavy up & down motions, do you need to emulate the exact area displayed on the upper screen or mearly weave your hand in a similar manner matching the size & length of the motions?

Also any frikkin word on this coming to either of us yet?

Small strokes in the direction it asks is all you need. Most people get it, though I've seen some have trouble for some reason.

Nothing on an overseas release yet.

Craaaap....well mayhaps Square is putting more attention in localising KH3DDDD so we might get it next year.

Speaking of I'm STILL waiting on more info for my Chocobo Racing game dang it!!

Any sign of content from Spinoffs? (like crystal chronicles or tactics or anything)

It'd be strange if they didn't, given how popular they are with the new FF croud. Still I'd like to see Nintendo return to form with a TRUE numerical FF...just like in the good old SNES days.

Spin-off DLC music will happen.

So has anyone here owned or atleast played the original GameBoy Final Fantasies: Legends 1&2 as well as Adventures?

Did my Final Fantasy on GameBoy comment really kill this thread? Good god guys don't you know ANYTHING prior to the ps1?

Surely there are SOME people on this site who've been playing since the 80's or the early 90's before sony entered the gaming industry at least...

...is anyone getting a sudden urge to homebrew their Wii right now? Not perfect, but damn good replicas.

Seriously, everytime you post somthing like this, this is what C3 members are doing. Smilie

Given the vast majority of FFs discussed om this thread have been on ps platforms I find it odd they would, my comment is valid.....as proven by the sudden DROP in activity here right after I posted a rare Final Fantasy on GB. You honestly can't blame me for posting that question...& if you do you need a serious look in the mirror cause you prove the very question I brought up.

DO you know anything pre plastation, & I don't mean rereleased I'm speaking of when it first came out.

It wasn't your comment, or anyone's lack of knowledge of playing prior to the PS1, it was just that threads sometimes just drop on C3, I've seen it happen quite a lot over the years.

Although, I have to admit, I've never played the GB FF (if you're talking about FF Legends (which was renamed from SaGa over here)), and I never started playing final fantasy until FFIII DS a few years ago, and Final Fantasy IV and VI have been the most enjoyable to date for me, but I have yet to play through most of the games.

Ok sorry for my assumption about that then, it all just seemed to point that way with how this thread has gone thus far. Still any news on the FF Chocobo Racing progress or did it get dropped...I'd REALLY rather not hunt down the disc for that. Getting the disc for Ehrgeiz was a ROYAL pain...T_T

I'm not sure about that, there's been no news since 2010 for it, so I'd assume it's been dropped or just put on hiatus for a while.

I havn't played any of the Gameboy final fantasy's, too be honest I was more into 2D platformers and action games back then, I never really took portable gaming seriously till the GBA either.

In total I had like 5 GameBoy games, 2 pokemon titles, Megaman 2, Mario Land and Kirby. Thats over the span of about 7 years Smilie. So yeah I was more interested in PC/Console games throughout 90's.

I can see that, there was more to offer over all than the BG could offer.

Still FF Adventures was a nice top down Zelda clone & both Legends titles let you makr heroes based on different races ranging from humans, orcs, goblins & dragons...& you could change the race of your heroes depending on what type of meat you ate...so make sure you saved BEFORE nomming on a T-Bone cause you could end up loosing good stats with a bad evolution instead of getting a good one.

Been giving FFIX a proper go, and I must say I've sort of fallen in love with it. I've just defeated Black Waltz #3 (though I've a feeling he'll return), crashed through South Sky Gate, and we're in Lindblum. I'm five or so hours in.

I'm not so sure what I love about it. I notice that the in-game graphics (especially the animations) are fantastic, and totally better than the preceding PSone-era FFs. Whereas before everything was kind of wooden, the characters move in a convincing cartoony way now.

The story seems awesome, too. The characters are developed really well. Poor Vivi!

Is this your first time playing it? Am envious, love that game to bits.
Are you playing it through PSN download? Always wondered if the battle loading times were quickened or kept the same. Smilie

FFIX is pure magic. Probably the best PS1 FF tbh. It's just so easy to fall for its magic. Chibi character style and best pre-rendered backdrops made one of the best looking games on PS1 and still holds up today. The story never seems to come to a halt. So many lovable characters and music. It's like you say: I can't always put my finger on exactly what it is about IX, but it's just pure fun from start to finish.

I hate to bring it up all the time, but tis a shame you aren't playing the 60Hz version. Battle start transition felt slow back on the PS1. Battles in general were slower-paced than VII/VIII, but by abusing the Wait ATB option, you could fit in more attacks than your enemy to get the advantage - worked wonders in my latest playthrough.

Anyway, enjoy one of the best FFs to date!

Well, when I first bought it from PSN, never played it more than five minutes (didn't even get to the opera before). So this is the first proper go. As said, yeah it's a PSN PSone Classic. I've never played this game on real PSone hardware, or even from disc on PS2/3/ePSXe, so I can't confirm about the battle load times.

They seem about the same as the other PSone-era FFs, to me. I don't think loading is done any quicker on PS3. I remember how there was a quicker loading option for PSone games on PS2, and how it screwed some games up (FFVII being one). They've left that option out of the PSone emulation on PS3. All you get is a 'smoothing' option. Other than that, the games look/sound/play exactly as they do on PSone hardware.

I didn't notice battle loads being any different from VII and VIII. I guess there could be a difference, but for me it just isn't tangible. The screen swirls into the middle, then you're in battle. Don't know what else to say. Takes a few seconds?

I like how the entire game system for IX has been simplified a bit. I think the experience is better for it. I find VIII a fucking nightmare. On my most recent try of VIII, I spent ages reading one of the in-game guides about junctioning or something, and by the time I'd finished, I forgot what I was supposed to do next. I also forgot what I was doing previously, so I've no way of finding out where to go. Essentially a broken save, and a waste of an hour or two.

It may not be a big deal then. I just remember on the PS1 there would be times where the battle start would swirl, but then hang on the odd occasion as it loaded the battle.

Junctioning in VIII is easier than it looks. Agreed, it looks far too complicated for its own good, fiddly and unnecessary. My first playthroughs in the day I just optimised everything in Junctions. You can just as easily get through the game doing exactly that. It was nice to understand the ins and outs in later playthroughs though, and do things like add Death to ST-Atk to give my attacks Death status. Looking back, everything is easily explained in-game, but as a kid back then, it was a lot to take in.

IX absolutely went to the simple character job style with easy ability learning, and the game was more fun for it. I enjoyed X's freedom of letting you turn each of your characters into specific job types too though (and has my fave battle system).
