AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!
I've completed it! The ending is so cruel, I expected a lot more from disc 4Smilie Stunning stuff nontheless. They'd better bloody well release the third!

By the way:
-I didn't learn that awesome move afterall, I saw the scene when I got back to the temple from Kowloon and was given the scroll. Since there were no more fights in the game I never actually learnt it.
-Your tip didn't really help in the end, I just sprinted in a circle untill the time went downSmilie

Oh yeah, the Saturn Shenmue video is fucking STUNNING. The Saturn really could shit all over the PS1 given the oppertunity. it is indeed amazing how much they actually made, it goes almost right up to the end of Shenmue 2!

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Yeah it is. Proof that the Saturn is technically superior to the PSone. Remember, it's an unfinished Saturn game, so it may have looked even better if they finished it!

The ending is so cruel

Yeah it is! Do you know what I meant about certain 'revalations' now? Now you sort of know what the mirrors do. At the end of Kowloon, when Yuanda Zhu demonstrates with the Pheonix mirror, over the candle, it blew my fucking mind. One of the best plot twists ever.

And then going to Guilin! What a beautiful place! It's stunning how well they've captured it for the game. Lovely landscapes, and waterfalls and such. And the firefly bit was SO pretty! I love Shenmue

Wo wo wo, how is that a plot twist?Smilie

'Cos before that point, as far as you were concerned, the mirrors were just highly valuable jewellery. You got slight hints at what they were in Shenmue I, and early on in Shenmue II, but the info was only ever presented as an ancient myth, and therefore to be taken lightly. Until that bit at the end of Kowloon, I just thought they were incredably valuable...

Oh... well I assumed they were what they actually turned out to be, too much Indiana Jones.Smilie

Now you've had a day or two to reflect upon it, Grumbler, what's your opinion on Shenmue II? Do you agree with me, that this is the game where the story really picks up, and the actual game itself is epic in every way (story, scale, etc)? Did you like the subtle changes to the game's mechanics? Etc?

My Dreamcast has began to mis-behave again, i was gonna banish that bitch but i figured i might try that "open heart surgery" that Mason reccomended.( The fixing of the resetting problem) Do any of you recomend it?

http://www.consolevision.com/members/fackue/tut_lidswitch.shtml

Yes, if that's your problem, then the fix is a synch. Do it.

If you can describe that little fix as "open heart surgery", you've seen nothing:cooldude:.

Anyway, Shenmue 2. Really pleased with it, noticeably improved graphics and better designed areas and a more stable engine. The gameplay tweaks provide a much more polished feel than the original which felt very experimental (which it was). I was a bit dissapointed by the story which I feel you over-hyped a bit, but it was still extremely well told and kept me on my toes. I found a couple of parts of the game a little dragged out, namely the yellow-head building and the forest in disc 3. Overall, a new top 5 game for me (can't decide what's been knocked off) which is always good. I just really really really really want The third part and Shenmue Online.Smilie

A statement made by Sir Neil Flynn, the surgeon who performed surgery on a SEGA Dreamcast today between 15:30-17:00.

"She (The Dreamcast) is now currently recovering on my desk, the problem turned out to be much more complicated then first anticipated. However after an hour and a half i finnally had corrected the problem and had given the patient a full treatment. Currently the patient is working and is ready for full time "play-ment", thank you to all of you who have sent roses and get well cards they have been greatly appreciated"

Im suprised with you Grumbler, you usually catch on with my over-exagerations.

It turned out that the lil lid switch wasnt the problem i thought it was. I then when for the power problem, and then figured i might aswell fix my disc spinning so i changed my potentiometer. Either way its finnally working as it should do. I.e with the Lid closed

Smilie
The choice is what to play first. What games do you have?

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

What games do you have?

Well ive only just fixed it, but i am running Dead Or Alive 2 in the background and the video keeps replaying which is really good! YAY.

My other games are : Rayman 2 (dooo doo)
Virtua Striker 2 ver 2000.1
Soul Calibur
Virua Tennis 2
Capcom V-S SNK 2 (Japanese Verison)
WWF Royal Rumble
Jet Set Radio
Outrigger
Metropolis Street Racer
Crazy Taxi 2
Star Wars Pod Racer

I have had : Blue Stiker or Streaker (cant remember)
Shemnue 1 and 2
Crazy Taxi 1
Crazy Taxi 2
Chu Chu Rocket
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 (swapped for Cube Versions)
Phantasy Star Online Episode....cant remember lol
Marvel V-S Capcom 1 and 2
Ive had few more aswell, but i can't recall off memory.

I see, a hard decision then.

Star Wars Pod Racer

Is this version any good? I have the N64 version which is bloody ace.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Yea!!! I'd say the DC's version looks slightly better but otherwise it practically plays the same. Although its been a while since ive played the N64 version so i might be giving it more credit, either way the DC version is good

I was a bit dissapointed by the story which I feel you over-hyped a bit

Sorry, buddy. Different strokes, and all. I guess one of the reasons it's so special to me, as that it could go anywhere from here. supernatural things have just started happenning, in a story which has until now been based in reality. It just love the way they sring it on you, it's a suprise, yet it's done very subley. But sorry if you didn't like it as much Smilie

Indeed, it's very open ended. In fact, after two action packed games, it's almost like we know almost nothing, which is great. there's a hell of a lot of room for Shenmue 3 to fill which can only be a good thing.

But sorry if you didn't like it as much

Don't get me wrong, I still absolutely loved it. It's one of my best games ever.

Good Smilie

Keep in mind that Shenmue is a sixteen chapter story (Yu Suzuki said so). Shenmue I is merely chapter one, whilst Shenmue II is chapters three, four, and five, respectively (chapter two was on the boat to Hong Kong, and released as a comic). Obviously, Shenmue II is much bigger (as you would know from playing it). However, there's still ten chapters to go! We're not even half way through!

Wasn't it originaly meant to be 4 games and they decided to condense the last 3 into Shenmue 2 & 3? I'm probably wrong but I think i read something like that a while ago.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I think that was just some rumour, it was never subsantiated. It might be right, but it's not a fact. Originally (back when it was a Saturn game), it was just supposed to be a single game. It was written as one product. Which is why the endings to both games are a little jarring. It just... stops...

Text at the end of Shenmue II:

The Saga Continues...

It fucking better!! SmilieSmilieSmilieSmilieSmilieSmilie

uh oh.....a random resetting........first of many? Or just a rare blip......

The Saga Continues...

It actualy says the story continues.SmilieSmilie

It just... stops...

Yeah. I feel really odd at the moment, I know I've completed it, but it just doesn't feel like I really have. I was really shocked when it "stopped", I thought something really big was about to happen but the ending was just equivilant to solving a single puzzle in Zelda.

uh oh.....a random resetting........first of many? Or just a rare blip......

Did you accidentaly soft reset it? I did that once (see threadSmilie).

no i was playing Pod Racer and it just resetted. Smilie it hasnt done it since though, however its beggining to have a lil trouble at the start screen. Nothing to worry about for the time being.

If i can find a copy of Shemnue i will probs buy it but i can't be bothered to pay a riduculous amount for it. Gamestation tends to have a decent selection of Dreamcast games...infact the only place that i know sells DC games.

It seems that this has turned into a 3 person topic.....

I paid
