There's a trailer for New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the eShop. It looks much better than I thought.

I wasn't impressed, some of the gameplay concepts look OK-cool, but the coin theme feels so cheap, as do some of the sound and graphics assets.

Luigi's Mansion looked awesome, amazing graphical effect and all over polish. Day one for me this Xmas.

Paper Mario looks good, but that trailer doesn't sell it to me. I feel it might be too slow paced to keep my attention.

Amazing graphics and AI, just as amazing as they were back in the day

Is this real?

If the Wikipedia article about the game is any indication, then yes. Seeing as it's on iOS too, there'd be no reason for it not to be on 3DS. Must be a beefy game in terms of filesize though.

Order Up!!'s file-size is 310mb, making it the largest game so far.

Demo coming to eShop soon:

I think the demo is just ASAP after Nintendo approval, and the game would follow soon after." - Supervillain's CCO/Co-Founder Chris Rausch

KH3D plays very promisingly on the evidence of the demo, in terms of overall quality, it's easily the best I've seen on 3DS so far. I'm very tempted to pick it up along with a new silver XL, I think it will look and control better on the new machin. The only time I had a problem with the demo was during the fast-paced combat, sometimes my vision would slip out of 3D, because of my own physical movement. If the larger 3D screen prevents that from happening, or lessens it, I'm all for it, both the game and the new XL.

Gotta admit, despite my preference for darker electronics I like that white one.

Me too. It would look good alongside a WiiU Gamepad also.

Good pro/con feature here:

Taken from a French Website's hands-on impressions;

- The screens are HUUUGE!
- DS games will get a "third life" on the bigger screen.
- The 3D effect is easier on the eye and nicer to the look.
- The technology behind the 3D might have been improved on the XL model. (To confirm)
- They think there's some kind of "filter" at works here because the pixels appear "rounded."
- "The XL is so much more comfortable to hold than the original 3DS that we have to ask what the hell has Nintendo been doing in R&D with the original model." (Paraphrased)
- The difference might be small, but the buttons felt well placed and of better quality.
- The circle pad appears bigger. (To confirm)
- Surprisingly light for its size.
- 3DS games will gain new life from the XL.
- Speakers and sounds doesn't appear to have improve. (Was in a noisy room, to confirm.)
- The viewing angle on XL is way bigger too
- The XL is an upgrade on the 3DS from almost every single point.

Sounds like Nintendo hit it out of the ballpark on this one. Smilie

Wasabi Hokusai 3DS Cases

http://www.my-wasabi.com/products/wsb0437.html

If they can somehow increase screen size, button and battery quality but still keep the originals small size, then I'd consider a new one. Smilie

I want a DSphat > DSi type upgrade and not a DSi > DSiXL. Smilie

No rush for a proper upgrade but 2014 should be ok Smilie

Those Wasabi cases are really nice, Linky. Can you get them in the UK?

Though if I get an XL, it won't fit.

PlayAsia should get them in within a few weeks I reckon. I hope so, I love Hokusai's great wave and the philosophy behind it.

I want all of these Smilie

Capcom confirmed a Spring 2013 release for Monster Hunter 4 in Japan at a recent event. A new trailer was shown as well, though it's not available to the public yet.

The logo reminds me of a certain legendary series starting with a Z. Smilie

New trailer from the Japanese Capcom event. Those new jump attacks, climbing walls and even the monsters themselves look fucking brilliant.

Even though the textures aren't looking so hot, I love the use of colours compared to previous MH games.

EDIT: I've seen some people on Siliconera suggest it, so I downloaded the video and scaled it down to the 3DS screen size and it looks a lot better.

I looks a little better displayed smaller.

Castlevania: LoS

Nintendo on NSMB2 coin collecting...

“It’s not a ‘gimmick,’ it’s the jackpot. That’s what it is, no doubt; you are collecting coins like crazy in that game. It’s insane how many coins you’re going to collect; the amount of 1UPs you’re going to get are going to help you, yes, but it’s like hitting the jackpot because there’s coins everywhere. And Gold Mario is able to throw gold fireballs, which allow you to gold everything else.

There’s basically every single opportunity to get coins that you could possibly think of, and you want to get them all… there actually is purpose to collecting all those coins, and I’m not going to tell you what it is, but there’s purpose, and you want to collect as many as you can." - Nintendo of Canada's Matt Ryan

When asked if the reward for collecting enough coins was a small bonus like a star next to your player profile, Mr. Ryan responded with the following.

“I don’t think that we would tease if it didn’t actually mean something.”

Can I use all those coins to get my $40 back?

I forsee me replaying a lot of my handheld titles on this. Thinking of how TWEWY will look has me salivating Smilie (never had a DSiXL).

Here's a thought though, do you guys think there'll be certain 3DS games that can tell which type of unit you're using and reference it, like Mario Kart DS did with the alternate greeting on a DS Lite? No substantial differences of course, just small touches like that.
