This is where the wait for the English releases starts to become very painful.I ruined pretty much all of Diamond and Pearl before their releases so I'm gonna try real hard not to look at every little detail released.
@PK:
You're not allowed to say the water one looks like Seel, you may as well say it looks like a real seal, since there's barely any imaginative difference between the two, other than the horn, which Otter doesn't have anyway.
I think the grass snake's evo is going to look far different to Grovyle and Sceptile, being a snake and all.
Also, holy shit guys, did you realise that Clefairy is a total rip off of Jigglypuff!?

Did I forget to mention that the water starter also has almost the same basic shape of Piplup AND a white face?
And Grass Snake? Since when do snakes have pointy noses and arms and legs?

Still, the Grass starter continues to be exclusively reptilian, Water starter continues to be entirely based off of what you'd find at a relatively large body of water, and fire starter continues to be a random animal they pull out of a hat with a flaming color scheme. Now there are exceptions, what with the Chikorita family possibly not being saurian, the Charmander family being dragon/desert lizard related, and the Piplup family based off of an animal that lives on giant slabs of ice. Yet still, I must say, way to be conservative once again, Game Freak.
I'm hoping for their sakes that this is fake.
And who called the Grass-Fire-Water lineup?

Two amphibians, one reptile, one bird and one mammal. What would you think is a good idea for a water starter then?
Plus who cares if the grass types are mostly reptiles? There's a decent amount of variety between them, more than with fire imo, and the evos of GrassSnake are bound to look awesome.
And who called the Grass-Fire-Water lineup?
Yeah, maybe I am being a bit too pessimistic. I just thought it would be awesome if they deviated a little more from their usual pattern. I'll wait until the final evos are showcased to give final judgement.
And IMHO, Gen IV's starters seemed a tad more novel.
And I meant that I knew they would be Grass, Fire, Water in that order. And THAT'S pretty sad, really.
And I bet that the final pig evo will stand upright.

EDIT: Yeah the Otter's really grown on me due to the fanart. They make it look so cute

Unless you think turtles are amphibians, methinks you miscounted your animal kingdoms there.
Other than that, stars for you my good sir. PK, stop whining dude! The game is gonna be amazing, don't try to pick out such tiny things to moan about.

Maybe I'm just getting tired of this game. Maybe the "mysteries of what the next game will bring" have become too predictable. Maybe I don't get uber-excited whenever they make tiny changes to the gameplay. Maybe the characters and creatures and all are starting to sound too simple or similar. Maybe I'm just getting tired of this game.
Then again, I don't know if they're going to "revolutionize" the game with this next version.
Why cant they make starter that can learn fly?

Then again, I won't be too disappoint if they make the "grass snake" like Quetzalcoatl.

Charizard can fly though D:
C'mon PK, try to look at the potential hugeness and new features they can bring in. I mean after HG/SS I can sorta see why people think they may be losing interest, but that's only because GenII has aged so badly that it feels a little broken at times compared to Platinum.

Alright, if I find one big piece of awesome that completely blows me off my feet in this game, I'll apologize.
Teenage shujinko and 3D buildings and like-able starters(I admit it, they're too close to the formula, but they work quite nicely) and demon Lucario are nice, but they don't smack me so hard my clothes go flying off as I hurtle through the air.

Yeah, why can't Charizard fly?howd i miss that? but that aside... none of piplup's evolutions can fly, as with torchic (blaziken can learn brave bird, and empoleon drill peck), and its so hard to find an ok flying type that fits your team's (mine at least) strengths and weaknesses.
Penguins can't fly and Blaziken doesn't have wings. Not all birds can fly.
Serebii has scans, here are some of the best pics from them:
Nice to finally see some more battle screens.
Why does the health bar go white green white?
Love how busy the city is. Want to see big cities like that brought to life by having as many npcs wandering around as possible and not just have them walking in circles. Have some wander off screen and some enter etc.
I think that Tsutaja, the grass starter, will loose its legs as it evolves, sort of like how evolution theoretically got rid of real snakes legs.
Also, Doduo and Dodrio can learn fly, yet neither have wings at all.

Eh. Chalk it up to one of those scenarios where you feel you're changing, but something isn't changing along with you--at least not at a fast enough pace. This is frankly, the first time I've been looking to dodge a starter based on looks [Battle-wise, these things might not actually be that bad] So far, the only thing these versions have over the older ones are new Pokemon and another continent [Is this planet the size of Jupiter?]. Still remains to be seen if the battle cries are more advanced and Pokemon will actually move in battle. I'm also looking to see if they improve the pokemon animations and take it back to the Crystal days. This shouldn't be another Emerald.

As for the changes, from screenshots we can see that this is the first time the overworld has had entirely different looks, possibly the biggest overworld changes in the series so far.
And battles, we'll have to wait to see the mechanics. From the screens you can see that the text box is gone and that the sprites move around (as in change position, not animate), also the backsprites are full body.

All Pokémon games so far take place in Japan, or a world heavily based on it.

That said there are rumours this one might actually be set in another country, I wonder what this would mean for the National Dex?

I really hope for this too. They can use a bigger cartridge or something, but the animations are still really basic.

I don't really get this part ?_?
Meaning as well as that region having its own regional dex as always, it would have its own National Dex due to being in a different country, and the only way to include Pokémon from the original country (Japan) would be with an International Dex.
can you show me this?
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/e/e7/CoroCoro_BW1.jpg
In this screenshot, Zoroark is closer to the middle of the screen, and his sprite looks like it's been enlarged, you can see his full backsprite. On the other hand, Zorua's sprite looks like it's been made smaller.
Now look at the screens I posted just a few posts back, the Pokémon are in slightly different positions, the sprites have been stretched or squished in different ways, etc etc, and their backsprites are partly obscured.
Basically I think the sprites are going to move around in the battle. It might even have some kind of "camera"
