I'm at Gran Pulse, well, in Yaschas Massif(thought there might be a gang there, I was wrong). It's awesome so far, just levelling up the Crystariums by doing the missions.

When I saw Gran Pulse in the cut scene, I was amazed at how nice the FMV was, it made the place look gorgeous, and Gran Pulse is a nice looking place anyway, not finding the monsters too hard, although I've had to avoid a Behemoth, and I Libra everything, it makes things so much easier. Got a gold trophy as well, so all's well and good

Downloaded FFVII as well, going to try that out when I've finished XIII.

Nice man. I love it when you reach Gran Pulse. Everything feels so expansive and beautiful. It'd be wise to level up around here, and it actually won't take long before you can kill those behemoths. Probably the best level up spot in the game is in the Archylte Steppe too. I'll spoiler it for you, in case you don't wanna know.

I really shouldn't be reading too much into this because I'm exploding with excitement at the prospect, but there are a few rumours surrounding the HD upgrade of FFX on PS3/Vita...

Source from google translation

- Uses Final Fantasy XIII's engine, and adapted to Vita
- characters, aeons and stage elements made from scratch from new engine
- CGI sets/scenes will use a filter from FFXIII engine
- magic and lighting effects achieved with new "Luminous" engine
- small changes for Blitzball
- online options (no details yet)
- out by March 2012

I know it's rumour, but it's nice to speculate and imagine. FFX has been voted the best game ever in Japan, and I believe too that if you're going to remake FFX, don't just do an HD upgrade, go the full length and remake the thing. Do it justice and give it what it deserves. If true, they've got the completely right idea using FFXIII's engine, which I think looks gorgeous.

And please to god, online blitzball. PLEASE.

Regardless, even if it does just end up as a simple HD port, I'll still jump all over it. I love X's battle system, right next to XIII's.

7 minute trailer for XIII-2. Some ending spoilers for those who haven't finished XIII yet.

Watched yesterday. Was gonna post but not sure how many people are bothered lol. But thanks :]

The scene with Lightning appearing before Serah seems odd. Like, the point is Serah's trying to find her sister, then when she does appear, there's no happiness, just surprise. Obv I don't know if she's seen her before that point in the game, or if there's more of a reason, but still seems odd.

I think it's almost confirmed that the only battle party you get is Noel + Serah + a monster. Guest characters pop up to help it seems, like Snow did. But doesn't look like a free switching one like FFXIII, which disappoints me. Really hope there's more playable Lightning than what they've made out too :/

Getting it day 1 obvs, and I know I'm gonna enjoy it, but still some things that irk me.

Anyone else played the Final Fantasy Type-0 demo? Just playing it now and really loving the look of it. Smilie Completely confused since I understand nothing but the graphics and music are amazing. Smilie They should think about porting it to the 3DS. Smilie

About Type-0, I've done the combat training, but now I have no clue what to do next. Smilie

I originally planned to play it but lack of time made me not bother. I was adamant about it in the beginning too, because there's been a lot of high praise for it and it looks gorge.

Instead, I think I'll wait for the full release and maybe use a guide to understand it, or I'll wait for the inevitable Vita/PSN (hopefully it isn't Vita-exclusive; wanna play it on PS3 as a PSP HD update) version in English. Type-0 is too huge of an FF game for them not to bring to the West in some shape or form eventually.

Glad to hear it looks and sounds as I imagined though!

In FFXIII-2 news, Europe will be getting three, yes three, editions. Normal, limited and special. I always said I'd get the limited edition of this game, but a special version too? It better be some good stuff, but I can just see me buying it regardless. I'm not liking the sounds of the certain DLC stuff from different stores too. I've always hated it, and wish they would keep that shit in the US. If they bring it here I'm gonna be fuming.

Type-0 39/40 in Famitsu. Please translate, Square.

FFXIII-2 Europe Collector's Editions Announced

3 editions of the game.

Normal edition - just the game.
Limited edition - game, selected tracks CD, artbook, 6 CG character postcards, HD Lightning artprint.
Limited edition picture:

Crystal edition - all of above, except full 4-CD OST, t-shirt, unique packaging.

Then there's also preorder bonuses depending where you buy from. Looks like GAME has the exclusive pick of the best stuff though.

For preordering any of the editions with GAME, you get: steelbook case, FFXIII Episode I novella, recruitable boss Omega, costume for Serah and Noel.
Preorder bonus picture:

Sadly, the GAME Crystal edition is £80, whereas it's £60 on other sites. So you're paying £20 more for the steelbook, Omega and costumes. I'm unsure what to do but I'm leaning on caving in with the GAME lot for £80. I mean, just look at that sexy steelbook! It's such a cool thing though that I sort of wouldn't want to open it at all... Obviously will though.

Amazon has a shitty weapon for Noel and Serah or something.

I think the steelbook is also with any edition at game, from the wording on their site.

But the Crystal Edition looks sexy. And if the soundtrack is anyting like 13s, then DO WANT

( Edited 19.10.2011 23:06 by Lrrr )

Yeah, that's right, the steelbook preorder bonus is with any edition. But it's only available at GAME, so I'd have to pay £80 for the Crystal edition, rather than £60 elsewhere which doesn't get the steelbook. Pain in the arse. Truly hate store exclusive bonuses.

Bought the GAME Crystal Edition to get the steelbook and other stuff pre order bonus. £80, but that bonus is exclusive to GAME, so no choice.

The £60 ones with no bonus on Zavvi and The Hut are sold out, so if you're thinking of getting the Crystal Edition, might have to look to GAME. Play and Amazon ones are £80 with crappier/no bonus.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic (I don't mean off topic as such because it is Final Fantasy related, but isn't in regards to what you guys are talking about...) but I've just played Final Fantasy for the first time!

I bought FF3 on the DS back in about May, but I was overcome with Uni exams. Then I lost the cart! Obviously it's been refound. My first impressions are that it's the most stereotypical RPG I've ever played. Spiky hair, turn-based, levelling up, magic, a giant crystal telling me I'm the 'chosen one' or something. It's pretty good though! I like the job system so far too.

Yeah the older ones are kinda samey with the crystal stuff going on. I love how different each game's story and settings are in the later ones.

Welcome to the series (again) anyway! Hope you plan on trying out others in the series, because if you're an RPG fan, this is the series you wanna play.

Wow, Crystal Edition sold out on GAME now. Glad I did it when I did.

Square would change things if they remake FF7:
Link.
In a way, sort of don't mind that. I pretty much expected them to alter things based on the stuff they brought in through prequels/sequels. It would be too unnatural for FF7 to happen the way it does with no mention of the stuff in the prequels whatsoever. The original will always hold special memories for me, so no remake, whatever they do to it, will make me feel the same. But I'm still really interested to experience the game that changed my life in the tech of today.

FF Type-0 English release confirmed.
Link.
Really can't wait for that. Barely know anything about the game either, so should be really cool to experience. Very surprised though; was expecting Vita/PS3 upgrade.

Ezio downloadable costume for Noel for FFXIII-2

Didn't know what to make of that when I saw it. A little bit sick of all the Assassin's Creed stuff atm. Still, better than the scruffy clothes Noel wears normally.

FF update! Just trying to recap on the most recent FF news. Surely there's others here interested?!

I've got back into FFXIII and I'm on chapter 13.

I shall be getting XIII-2 if my funds allow for it.

  • FFXIII-2 sells 525,271 in its first week, topping the JP charts, yet still being one of the worst opening sales figures for an FF game.

  • More Theatrhythm characters, including Seymour, Kefka, Pupu and Jenova Synthesis.

  • FFXV to be announced at E3 2012?

GamesMaster UK is claiming that Square Enix has something special planned for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy next year.

According to a rumor found in latest issue of the magazine Final Fantasy XV will be announced during a special Square Enix E3 2012 press conference. The next installment to the long running franchise is also rumored to be coming to WiiU and PC along with the PS3 and 360.
While this is merely a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, earlier this year Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase did express interest in bringing the series to the WiiU.

If true this would be the first time that a direct installment to the Final Fantasy series has ever graced Windows and a Nintendo platform in over a decade.

Take this with a pinch of salt. FFXI was a mainline FF game and it came out on PC. Same with FFXIV. Unless they're talking about offline games.

Games that made Famitsu's readers cry.

    1. Final Fantasy X
    2. Crisis Core FFVII
    8. FFVII
    10. FF Type-0
    12. FFIX
    16. FFXIII

Not surprised by FFX and Crisis Core. I remember CC hitting me hard. Curious to play Type-0 now too, since it's newly released and right up there.

XIII-2 is only about 5 weeks now too! Come round so fast. Game has sold 643,033 in two weeks.

FFX HD still in early development. Producer wants it to have same quality as original. Hopefully this indicates it's a full remake. Source.
