The bold is where you're wrong. Even those who aren't necessarily big Sonic fans have enjoyed Unleashed, quite a few people I know infact. Not only that, but as a huge Sonic fan myself, even I can tell the difference between a game that's horribly flawed, and a game that's good.

True that the game can be enjoyed by all, but only the pure Sonic fans will say its brilliant or great. It's just... good, or ok.

Sonic Unleashed is by far the least flawed 3D Sonic game ever made. Game breaking glitches aren't present, and other glitches require a lot of trials and error to do properly.

Well Sonic Team did SOMETHING right at least.

Sonic fanboys will tell you they enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006, but even those who hated those games could very possibly like Unleashed a lot.

This is obvious. Unleashed, though good/average, is still FAR better than 06, which is by a long shot the worst sonic game every created, and arguably the abomination of video games.

That and Unleashed simply has to be praised for finally doing something great with the daytime gameplay, even though the nighttime gameplay is very arguably game breaking.

That's its problem. Take out the night time bs and there we go, standard Sonic is back, automatically an 80%+, but Sonic Team will never see that these miserable gimmicks do not work. There was only one gimmick that ever truly worked for 3D Sonic...

One last thing, I never said Unleashed was brilliant, I said it was great, especially for Sonic fans. It's far less broken than the original Sonic Adventure games, which everyone somehow loved. No huge camera problems other than with werehog, and instead of the Emerald hunting/shooting/fishing gameplay slowdown, we have werehog, which does have some perfectly decent platforming sections.

I know you didn't say that, but i think you're giving it a bit too much credit. It did get a little stale after a while, and the night stages were just a miserable turn-off.

Anyone who tries to argue that Adventure is far superior needs to greatly consider these points, or they risk being seen as "blinded by nostalgia"

Chao. Despite being the polar opposite of what Sonic the hedgehog is about, it worked, and it worked well.
I'm not saying the adventure series is better, hell that was probably a little overrated actually. But Chao worked; better than warehog, better than Silver, better than vehicles and swords/guns, better than a 3 man team, and better than any other useless gimmick that i cant remember right now.

PS. I think Twilight Princess is pretty overrated. Great game but only got the reviews it got because it's a Zelda game.

I dont think TP gets the respect it deserves. It is a lovely Zelda title. Wolf Link, though gimmicky and unneeded, played well. The only bad points that stuck out to me were the easiness in some of the dungeons, dog Ganon, and the useless final boss battle which is so easy its unbearable (no seriously, i literally pulled out my gamecube controller and watched G.Dorf attack me, and he didnt hurt me, let alone kill me).

Bowser. You Booz, you lose.

yes. why do u think dlc is a main part of the sales strategy? its cuz they know eventually people aint going to keep paying for a port of the same game but wid different songs.

Well that's your problem with a genre as a whole that a lot of people otherwise love, not SEGA's problem.

That's also the problem. Do you honestly think that if Unleashed was missing 8 compulsory werehog stages, the 3/10 ratings would somehow shoot up to 8 or 9/10? No, the reviewers who scored Unleashed that low because of one element that wasn't even that bad are biased against Sonic and didn't even try to like it. Their reviews hardly mentioned the daytime gameplay and instead just ranted about how bad the werehog was and how it wasn't classic Sonic.

I know you didn't say that, but i think you're giving it a bit too much credit. It did get a little stale after a while, and the night stages were just a miserable turn-off.

People don't give it enough credit. Arguably Sonic Team finally perfected 3D Sonic gameplay, the only problem is that it's awesomeness was saturated with generic low tier platforming.

I need to stop trying to say Unleashed is better than Adventure because I keep forgetting about Chao. Chao Gardens were easily a game in themselves, but it's doubtful they'll ever return.

I dont think TP gets the respect it deserves. It is a lovely Zelda title.

I think what I meant to say is that it's critically overrated, like GTA, and like Unleashed and Banjo are critically underrated, wheras amongst gamers (who are more trustworthy than reviewers IMO) Twilight Princess is seen as "meh" and is arguably underrated.

TP:

Too short
Too easy
Too much like OoT (and every other zelda).

It was good but I think the fans were expecting more.

The wolf wasn\'t a gimmick the controls were though (the sword swing gimme a break, buy the GC version).

Underated? Please..... Smilie There is enough fans out there to defend TP
Overated? Ya.

I\'ll say that SEGA\'s (sonic team) effort is increasing and hopefully will give us something good.

GTA is not overated, this is from a GTA hater.

Good decision about making a hardcore games for the wii but sonic games will never become a hardcore gamesSmilieno never

My point was that GTA games are critically overrated. This seems to run constant through many fans.

An even better example is MGS4, which was met with huge critical acclaim, but even big fans of MGS1-3 weren't feeling it.

I must give Sega some love for being honest. This just further proves the "Resistance of Man Theory." It states that any mature and/or "core" games will sell great on a platform that currently offers no similar product. As seen with the "success" of Resistance of Man on PS3.
