Death Note - 8/10
I really enjoyed this film, the second better note let me down. Thanks for the heads up Saunderscowie, I appreciate it. I might even check out the manga, even though I'm not into manga Smilie Special effects were muck though, the drawings of the God of Death look way cooler.

Just watched Death Note too, 8/10. Far better than I was expecting. A few changes from the manga, but nothing major. And thought the special effects were pretty good. I was pretty impressed with the way they handled Ryuk, even if the animation wasn't perfect. Better than just slapping some face paint and a funny costume on a guy. Smilie Can't wait for next week's. Gonna have to buy them on DVD too. Smilie

12 Monkeys

Yeah the ending left me in too much anticipation, kind of like Kill Bill Vol. 1. It did however seem fairly pointless that L puts on so much make up and rarely leaves the hotel.

And that 12 Monkeys film, I saw the title and, presuming it was some Shaw Brothers style Martial Arts film, I clicked "More Info". Boy, was I wrong?

Hahahah, true. Smilie It's to replicate his pale, dark eyed reclusive look in the manga I guess. I thought they did a pretty good job. Smilie

I've just got that today to watch.

I saw Yes Man on Friday night and I thought it was brilliant. I've read the book, and wasn't very impressed how loosely it was followed - but as a stand-alone film it's just a great laugh. Jim Carrey very close to his best in my opinion! 8/10

Yeh I loved it too. I think what made it good was that it wasn't all about Jim Carey's ego. Hence made it more funny. It was pretty laugh out load through most of it though.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

- Sure it doesn't do anything new, but it was a fun movie. 7/10

Slightly off topic, but I found that hilarious. He killed Santa accidentally!

Well, he would have got the pony, as he wrote down extra details Smilie

Death Note

it was pretty good, it seems they tried to fit too much into the film though. And it didn't stick that closely to the manga.

Still good though

8/10

Fung Fu Hustle

Glad I finally got to watch it after the problems I had with my DVD disk. Really great movie. I'm going to check out other Stephen Chow films.

WATCHMEN
Definate 9/10
They stuck really closely to the the main story of the comic, but because of that they missed a little bit out but not particularly integral. The visiuals where amazing and the fighting was epic. I think the reason why I enjoyed it so much is because I have read it and I was able to fill in any small gaps/blanks that they did.
I say that, because someone asked me why was the film called \'WATCHMEN\' Smilie

All in all, it\'s definately worth seeing and worth going to see. They focus much more on the story than fighting thank god, unlike what the trailor suggests. The visual work is pure genious too. The music is so god damn cheesy in places its lughable Smilie

Good to hear! I thought it was so funny. I suggest checking out Shaolin Soccer. I have Kung Fu Fighter but I got it in Sydney's Chinatown and it has Engrish subs that are so bad I cannot even understand what they're saying, the proper version might be good.

The Wrestler.

Solid if predictable film - check. 6.5/10
NES and CoD4 content - check. 10/10
Marisa Tomei gyrating in tiny pants and melting the screen with her Top 3-level hotness - check. 350,000 million squillion/10

Less posty, more gamey.

Death Note 2 - 7/10
A great film, in my opinion. It didn't have the moments of ingenuity the first possessed and thus I didn't find it as enjoyable a watch as the first. It did, however, serve its purpose of concluding the story. I didn't see the ending coming, well that exact ending anyway. I got the feeling I was missing out on something that the manga may have had. Well if I can find these for less than the extortionate price of €30 each, I'll have to pick them up.

Oh and Misa served as some very welcomed eye candy. She gets a 10/10!

Is the film about L any use?

Also just watched Death Note 2: The Last Name. Agree with Angus, 7/10. It cut out a lot of the cleverness of the manga to hurry it along a bit, which was a bit of a shame, but it was still awesome. The last half of the film was completely different to the manga, but generally pretty damn good. Did a good job of wrapping up the story, and made it new and interesting to watch even though I know the manga inside out.

I was just a bit confused by Rem\'s masculine voice, considering Rem is female. Though I think she had a fairly masculine voice in the anime too, so meh. Smilie

Definitely gonna buy them both on DVD, Play.com has them for £15 each.

And Angus, get the manga (or anime). There is A LOT that the films miss out. Smilie

Well I had it ready to record but my Dad set something else to record so Death Note got cancelled..

So I need to buy it now.

Watched all four Rambo films yesterday.

First one was alright, if a little unclear plot-wise, second was probably the best one, third was okay, and the forth was bollocks in comparison to the others.

7,8,7,5, in that order. Smilie

Just something I was pondering over, could be completely wrong though: Is Light's name a pun? They pronounced it Raito, right? And Doesn't Raito mean false god? I haven't done any research so its probably wrong, just a thought though.

It is pronounced Raito, yeah, but I have no clue if Raito means anything....ask Simon I guess. Smilie
