Played it for roughly two hours before I gave up for awhile. I've got 11 stars so far and I've thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. It's a little annoying I pretty much ruined the first set of levels by watching all of the videos flying around. But nonetheless - this is already, without a doubt, the best Nintendo Wii game available. The graphics are incredible, may I add.

Feels like very authentic Mario and the gravity thing seems to work straight away. There's no confusing headaches while you adapt to a new slant on the existing system. The quality of the camera really helps matters too, I'm so relieved Nintendo pulled that off. Any niggles at all would probably ruin the entire experience.

My only disappointments? I've played for two hours, not really making a point of collecting too much. Yet I have 25 lives. Also - I'm already over 1/5 of the way through the game if I don't care about getting all 120 stars (I do, but still). I guess there's a limit as to how long the concept can stay completely satisfying, overall I'm glad they chose to cut it short instead of over running it.

And you can definitely see where their time went instead. The design is flawless. I was worried the game would feel very fragmented and that it might be reflected in how the game is set out. But everything is brilliant! Smilie

The ray surfing was a laugh - but not as hard as people made out. I would have got it on my first try, I past the finished line and then suddenly veered of the track because I pointed my remote away from the screen. Took another try before I managed to finish it legitimately. Smilie

The Sweet Sweet Universe thing - I did on my first try. Bit of a let down really, I was quite looking forward to one of those frustrating yet addictive challenges Sunshine is so famous for. Ah well, I'm sure there'll be more where that came from. Smilie

10/10

^^ 2 more big stars to go ^^

I'm 11 or 12 stars in too - I'm trying not to rush through it. The whole first set of levels were great. This really is one of the greatest games I've played in years thus far.

I tried not rushing, I failed. When you've played and beaten Mario 64 and Sunshine a million times, it really isn't too hard to beat this quickly. I enjoyed it, but I still have 30 some odd stars to go to get 'em all, so I can get a little more out of it.Smilie

^^ i like that u only can get hit 2 times b4 u die make it alot better and more easy to die just slip up 3 time and u back to start lol Smilie and they little shit can easy hit u 3 time in a roll

I've played it for a good 3 hours so far. The problem is my bro loves it too, so it'll take us both double the length to get that far into the game.

We're gonna sort of sleep over in my room & stay up all night playing it. CoStar mode is still surprisingly fun.

So far, I love it. Infact, I still can't believe I own it. It's SO MUCH FUN, in my opinion. I'd have to say the only bad parts are that I started out feeling a little dizzy, & that the stages are a bit more linear than usual, but 10/10 easily. Excellent game.

Only read spoiler if you've finished Junk Galaxy in the Fountain Dome:

My last point. Has anyone noticed how incredibly inconsistend the Mario universe is? First of all, Bowser is MASSIVE in Sunshine, here he seems to have shrunk a bit. Also he speaks Koopa, not english like he did in Sunshine. Sunshine had much more voice acting, but I was happy to hear Mario grunting more than usual, it's better than the "hmm" he did like, 2 times in the whole of Sunshine.

I have 35 stars and i too have been limiting myslef to a max of 10 stars a day, recently its been 5. I think that the games problem isn't that it easy. I like the trial and error of the classic Mario games where you would have to restart the level multiple times on your first play through to get that certain challenge/jump right. But really that is what made Mario so memorable, because everyone remembers so many specific parts of the Mario games because we had played them over and over again so much. But whats happened to gamers and games is that they don't emphasize the idea of trial and error, so tend to only play a level once or twice.

I think its not that the game is to easy its just that we want to experience more! My thirst for Mario will never be quenched and thus the game will never satisfy my need for more fun. But i am pretty sure that once i beat the game i will "think to myself what a wonderful world...err galaxy..." jk. I think i will feel like playing it all over again. (i got that feeling after OOT, and surprisingly with) Metroid Prime 3)

Seems like C3 has slightly changed...slowly but surely

I havent been at C3 for a long time (im a noob been here less than a month) but i am not one to bash others opinions, i just wanted to ask you why. Im glad that you didnt take offence to my presumptions. I still think its a shame that the dizziness factor is still their for you, but im sure you will get used to it, my brother gets dizzy just watching when we play co-op mode, so i guess your not alone.

Started playing it at 5, came off at 10, love it to bits. It's a perfect mix of Mario 64 and the original Mario Bros. really.

I have 28 Stars and have just completed the first level in the Bedroom Galaxy. Little disappointed it's going to be over so soon, but I guess a lot of us found 64 and Sunshine harder because we were so much younger and inexperienced n00bs Smilie.

I did the ray surfing third time, once I got the hang of slowing down at that first bastard helter-skelter chicane bit it was fine. I too nearly made the same mistake as you Sound, just managed to save myself though Smilie.

I enjoy the mini-games dotted around that Sunshine didn't have. The bomb-the-trash game in Battlerock is fun if also insanely frustrating, and the ball rolling and sweet assault courses were a laugh. Hope there's more to come in that sense.

The old Mario humour is still present, the random mention of Apricot jam in the story book made me laugh out loud for some reason. Just typical Mario.

Best game on Wii yet (though no the most prestigious award a game could have...), but so far it's a 10/10 from me.

This is the first platfomer that I have ever played that has fun under water levels.Smilie
I only have 29 stars since I have been going back and forth between so many games, but after I finish this level I will have 30.

For those who missed out on the Oxford Street launch event, here's some videos. Smilie

Enjoy!

I now have 50 stars, 2 greens and have 1 more great star to get. It's such an addictive game and one that I can see myself playing many more times, like Mario 64 before it. Even if it's just beating records on the single star galaxies or doing long jumps on spherical planets and going into orbit Smilie

The way that it has these little references big and small, is great for those who played the earlier games. Even minute things like the yellow blocks from SMB3, the way Mario kicks upturned enemies Mario Bros style, levels that are built similar to Mario 64 ones and classic musical snippets all make you smile a little bit. Not to mention the big, spine tingling ones:

My only gripes are the Sunshine style presentation and that some levels are quite forgettable/identity free really.

If you suffer from motion sickness then there is no doubt it's going to be a negative issue depending on the severity. The interesting thing is during development of the game one of Nintendo's team, Takeo Shimizu ended up testing the game for camera angles that induced motion sickness, because he himself sufferd from it. Miyamoto clearly likes the extravangant angles so the hope was that they could find a nice balance, however there were always going to be a few players with some problem with it given the nature of the game. For me I adore what you can do, how you can manipulate gravity or how you let it manipulate you, I have actively been trying crazy stunts to get those butterflies. When you have the confidence to pull those tricks off the game is even more so fun, you can be very creative in your approach. Long jump off the tower at the start.

Ya i love those awesome stunt moments. There is one place in the kitchen observatory... the Mansion. In the beginning you can do some awesome stuff off of the Toad ship. I just love running around circular objects. I just wished they had included some sort of location like the Castle in Mario 64, because i loved just running around the courtyard.

Galaxy has now topped Ocarina on Game Rankings, and by a good margin too. Galaxy sits at 97.9, while Ocarina is at 97.5. The wait til Christmas is painful..

if i turned up in this i guess i could have scared a few people...

First thing I did this morning when I woke up was go check so see if Galaxy had came in the post.

Or if maybe it had been left sitting out in the cold on my doorstep.

Neither.

I am going to send such an angry email to HMV now, and the best I can do now is prey for Monday. Unless I go buy a copy...

I love it to bits, but what's with the slightly shitty base planet thing? Or the equivalent of the castle in Mario 64. They should've just based it in that....

---Slight spoiler---

...gorgeous village part at the beginning.

And if it does change, don't tell me.
