PHOENIX WRIGHT ACE ATTORNEY: JUSTICE FOR ALL :: CASE 4 (FAREWELL, MY TURNABOUT) IMPRESSIONS
!Lots of spoilers for Case 4 and some for the rest of the game below!
Yes, it took me forever, but frankly, case 3 had me bored. It was going okay, and had a lot of funny pop-culuture references, but really, it just wasn't engaging. That is until the very end when Edgeworth was shown sitting at the airport talking on the phone to Gumshoe. Oh. My. Gosh.
From that point on I could not put the game down. I voraciously played through case 4 in a few days. It was incredible. It was the best of every case that has been released so far. It was mysterious, it was suspenseful, and most importantly, there wasn't a single dull moment.
And also importantly, every twist was exciting. It wasn't like how Rise from the Ashes was at times where it was a roller coaster of twists that you just wished would stop.
Every single one of them was amazing and exciting, and made you desperately not want it to end.
The absolute best thing though was Maya getting kidnapped. Brilliant move that really created an air of tension around the whole case. At one hand you were trying to find the truth, and yet on the other hand the truth meant Maya would be killed.
If you have still persisted to read this much and haven't played case 4, then absolutely stop right now! Stop I tell you!
On top of that, how it all ended and the final cut scenes were brilliant. The joyful reunion of Maya, Nick, Pearls, and the others, and at the very end the sad confrontation between Von Karma and Edgeworth. It was all incredible.
And saddening, Von Karma breaking down into tears was a surprise.
And my anticipation for Trials and Tribulations has never been higher.
The rest of the game was...tbh worse than the first. Aside from the brilliant final case, there wasn't a single twist that surprised me in the entire game. Everything was well done as usual, but the stories just weren't as gripping.
Therefore I was quite ready to crown the original as the better of the two. However Farewell, My Turnabout changed all of that. It is that amazing. Justice for All is the better of the two simply because of that final case!.
Seriously, there wasn't a single boring moment, and the delicate balance of keeping your client leaning toward innocence for Maya's sake, and yet not entirely free from suspicion in court was incredible.
!End of Spoilers!
Mason you were entirely right, that case was awesome, and definitely warrants a purchase of the entire game on its own. Definitely going to go down in my book as one of the most incredible things in my video game experiences.
So yeah, let's bring this topic back. *sticky*
