It is n't entirely fair to blame Nintendo for all this, in the UK they hve to work within certain rules, they've offered to replace your consoles which they don't legally have to. When you buy goods you buy them from the seller not the manufacturer, it is the sellers duty to make sure there is adequate stock to cover any faulty products, not Nintendos' the same way it the sellers responsibility to fulfil pre-orders and not Nintendo's. Its the people who sold you the consoles who are at fault, not Nintendo and its them that should compensate you not Nintendo.

I see your point but I spent some time talking with Gamestation's customer service manager and, I assure you, they are all too aware of their obligations under the sale of goods act 1979. If a product sold to you is faulty, the retailer (gamestation, toys r us or anyone else) is legally obliged to repair/ replace or refund the item. The first two are problematic in that they cannot do this before Christmas, although they would certainly replace them if they had any to replace them with. Refund is also an option.

What Nintendo have offered is a 'fast track' replacement service that bypasses the retailer and therefore avoids the supply/ pre-order issues. Unfortunately we use this service at our own expense. Last year, Microsoft had a free courier service for faulty X360s. This is my only real criticism of Nintendo's handling.

Im not pissed off with Nintendo or my retailer- I'm just pissed off full stop!! Like I said, we're just bloody unlucky.

lucasisking, unfortunately it's nintendo of europe's policy to not refund people for things like postage or broken wiis on opening, so you really are in the same boat as me, have you watched my video yet?

and I don't know if i can find the recipt now, it was over a week ago and I'm a student for crying out loud!!!

Oh man! Always keep the receipt- rule numero uno!!

I watched your video- the last bit is all too familiar, only difference being mine did work for about 20 minutes. In some ways that made it even worse- so cruel to take it away like that!!

I live fairly close to the Nintendo Service centre so I'm going to see if I can turn up and get a replacement. Will let you know.

I pray we never see that f***ing error message ever again!!!!!

preach brother preach

Update us on the misery!

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Nothing to update. I called up and they said that because the units they were told they were getting a few weeks ago didn't show up, i'm not going to get it by this week as they promised, it's going to be after christmas.

It must be a major fault thought, because they're not repairing any of the Wii's that have been sent to them, they're ONLY replacing them, hence why mine isn't back yet.

i'm trying not to get worked up over it cause there's really nothing i can do about it.

Lucas, i still have the recipt from toys r us but i don't remember where the tiny slip of paper i got from the post office woman because the machine ran out of paper 2 thirds of the way through went.

not like it matters now anyway.

I thought about going to Nintendo and taking it in in person (saves time & postage) but its an expensive trip and they say they can't replace it on the spot (something to do with transfering the computers 'id' code). The guy at Nintendo didn't even mention 'repairing' the console- it is clearly a major problem that can't be solved with a bit of tinkering.

I spoke to Gamestation again and they have agreed to phone me when they get replacement stocks in. Bearing in mind it is now the 22nd December- I'm pretty sure that I won't be playing Zelda on xmas day.

The real pisser is that I pre-ordered my console. I might as well not have bothered!!!!!!

Still no-ones fault. I just remind myself that worse things can happen to people than this. It will be something to look forward to in the new year instead.

Even so, Bollocks!!

Good luck with yours Psynergy, keep us posted.

lol... The United States is great. Nintedo would probably reimburse me for the postage and shipping but if they wouldn't, then oh well i suppose I can afford a couple of dollars for a cheap ass call and for the shipping for the replacement. Although I would prefer living in the UK or in another country because of better looking woman and maybe a better piece of ass, rather than running around this place looking at women who sit around eating burger king all day... lol oh well. good luck with the Wii problem.

My local Gamestation had stock yesterday, it went straight out on pre-orders but yours may still have some lucasisking

Good news people. Gamestation did indeed come through and replaced my console before Christmas. I got the phone call on the 22nd- about 30 minutes after my last post!!

Good luck to Psynergy and anyone else with problems, and hats off to the guys at Gamestation once again- quite an acheivement getting stock in before the big day! Smilie

ok it's now the 2nd of january and I still haven't gotten it back. I've not had an e-mail saying anything, no letter, no contact at all.

I refuse to call the hotline and waste all my money again.

this is almost disgusting that lucasisking can get his from gamestation before i have mine sent back to me from NINTENDO!

i'm at a loss at what to do.

Have you still got the broken Wii?

No, Nintendo has it and won't give it back

Damn, you really should of gone with Oni's tip and found yourself a GC game to try in it...

I had a similar problem, when I put the disc in it would appear fine. I would then click start and as the instructions came up (usually) the console would begin to make an odd 'craning' sound.

Stuffed a couple of GC games in there, fixed it right up.

it wouldn't even get to the instructions. it would just say 'can't read disk'.

i don't see how GC games would of helped

You'd be surprised at the things that do help. Do you still have the receipt for the console?

Mate, enough is enough. If I were you I would demand that Toys R Us sort it out with Nintendo on your behalf. Let them waste their phone bill- after all they were the ones who advised you to use Nintendo in the fisrt place.

I feel bad for you cos I managed to resolve my situation- but to be honest I was never comfortable sending my machine off to Nintendo.

Slydevil- I had the same problem as Psynergy and I DID try some gamecube games- they didn't work either.

Psynergy- give em hell!
Smilie

Yes i still have the receipt for the console.

i tried calling again and the wait was an hour for tech support. I'm going to go down there tomorrow and sort it out with them because the tech support is just shocking.

How did you get on?

Spoke to them and also spoke to trading standards. As I've sent it Nintendo, there's nothing Toys R' Us can do about it and it's not their problem, although they didn't say that.

Accourding to trading standards, my next course of action is to write them a letter, with a copy of my reciept AGAIN, giving them a time frame to send it back, as stated in their guarantee, although I still haven't looked what the time frame on nintendos wii guarantee is.

It's just so shocking it's unreal, I've e-mailed them and called them and now i have to write, just to get a console that i bought almost 2 months ago.

if anyone has inside information that they'd like to help me with, please feel free

I'd do as trading standards suggest and see where it gets you.

You live up North don't you? Only if that doesn't work I was going to suggest that you go down in person to the Nintendo customer service centre (like I was going to) and don't leave till they give you your replacement. Its nearly mid-January so I can't believe there are no replacement machines available by now.

Their office is open Monday to Friday and the guy I spoke to suggested getting there no later than 3pm.

What exactly is Nintendo's problem- are they saying that they haven't recieved your console? Whenever you speak to someone there make sure you get their name and write it down. It will help when you do your letter.

Good luck buddy.

Sue them. And I'm not even joking. They're just piss taking now.

anyone know what the guarantee on a Wii is? i can't find it on any manual in the box...

and as i'm a student I can't afford to sue them.

There should be a separate bit of paper with warranty/guarantee info on it, like with all stuff like this.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.
